Nation Wars returns to Brood War, this time with a prizepool of $480! Nation Wars will start on September 13th and will run through to November 15th. If you want to see all of the best players from your nation perform, 1v1... 2v2... We've got it here!

Nation Wars
All Sets are best of 3 - 3x 1v1, 1x 2v2, ace - 1v1
+ Show Spoiler [sets] +
Set 1 - 1v1
Set 2 - 1v1
Set 3 - 1v1
Set 4 - 2v2
Ace - 1v1

The 1v1, 2v2 and ace are considered separate, thus they can feature repeat players. However, a single player cannot play in more than 2 sets.

Example:

(Okay)

1v1 - Vanatir, Bakuryu, Cryoc

Ace: Bakuryu

2v2: Vanatir + FA]Reflection

(bad - Vanatir is in violation)

1v1 - Vanatir, Bakuryu, Cryoc

Ace: Vanatir

2v2: Vanatir + FA]Reflection

The first map each week will be pre-determined, however, each team participating in the Nation War will have the opportunity to veto one of the seven selections.
+ Show Spoiler [Veto process] +

7 maps are presented per week, the participating teams must each select 1 map to veto, that map will be removed from the pool for this week, it will not be the first map of any set and cannot be selected by any player for that Nation War. Teams cannot veto a map that isn't listed in the starting maps for that week however, teams may opt to not veto a map.

Veto requests must be submitted 48 hours or more before the Nation War

Once both veto request are in OR 48 hours before the event, the maps will be shuffled by tournament administrators and assigned to their respective sets. The optimal 2v2 map will be prioritized to the 2v2 match before the shuffle begins.

Example:
Starting Maps:
(2) Neo Overwatch
(2) Destination
(3) Aztec
(3) Longinus
(4) Fighting Spirit
(4) La Mancha
(4) Othello

Poland vetoes (2) Neo Overwatch
USA vetoes (4) La Mancha

CW Starting maps:

<< Destination >>
<< Longinus >>
<< Othello >>
<< Fighting Spirit >>
<< Aztec >>

, the losing player will then pick a map from the Nation Wars map pool for the next set.

- Only team leaders may communicate with organizers about official league matters

3) All games must be played on Fish Server using Mini or mca Launcher.

An interpreter is required to be present at all times.

China must field a minimum of 3 backup players for each match.

China must field a "primary" "secondary" "terciary" for each set of a match in the event a substitution is required.

If all players in the backup slots for China have been cycled due to lag, the opposing team will be required to replace their player, however, they could use a player that has already played in the match.

If a replacement player for the opposing team is still unable to play the terciary player for China, the cycle will begin again through "primary", "secondary", "walk over".

A walk over may be avoided in a NON-ELIMINATION match if both teams agree to try with another player.

If both teams attempt with another player, the walk over cannot be claimed again until all of the back ups have been cycled.

- IP conflicts will be handled on a case-to-case basis, teams should always have 1 reserve player ready in case of conflict.
- Players who are likely to have a conflict must have a backup in case of an issue. The backup could constitute a swap with a player from another set, but it must be indicated before the lineups are released.
- PP matches must be scheduled a minimum of 24 hours before hand with league organizers
- Players must have /dnd active at all times while in Official Nation Wars games.

6) Rules concerning stand-ins
- Stand-ins cannot be from either China or Korea.

8) Abuse
- Any player found abusing in any way will be attributed with a permanent ban from the Nation Wars, in addition, the clan war which was abused in will be counted as a loss for the abusing player's team.
- Organizers reserve the right to attribute losses to previous nation wars depending on the severity of the abuse
- Players with former cases hacking and abuse must contact the organizers of the tournament before being admitted to play in this league. Organizers reserve the right to refuse these players.

9) If you have any questions about the rules, you must contact the organization, not knowing the rules or misinterpreting them is not an excuse.

The organization would also like to reach out to the community to make it possible for viewers to enjoy the games in their native language. We encourage other casters to join in on the broadcasting. The complete information thread will come out soon, however, I would like to address some of these in the meantime.

There must be at least 10 players per team (5 required for a NW)

3x 1v1
1x 2v2
1x 1v1

All sets best of 3

Maps (minus the first map for each set) will be selected by the players, the map pool is fairly large, it includes a lot of foreigner made maps, it includes new SOSPA maps and many KeSPA maps as well. -> Map pool to come with the full thread.

1. Who are you?
2. Which nation other than Poland and Russia could possibly field an active roster of 10 players with enough skill to really compete in such a league? Will you merge countries?

No offense, but the last event with comparably little information left behind really bad memories.

esports-betting.pro doesn't actually do betting themselves, they are primarily a fan/review site for esports betting sites. This is primarily a fan project for them at the moment. They love esports and they want to explore what Brood War is all about. So, for this event, they haven't approached any of their partners and there won't be any betting sites offering these matches.

I do apologize for any memories this might surface... We thought this was the most intuitive approach to release as much information that has been proof-read as possible. We hope that you can take comfort in knowing that the full thread will be released in the coming days...

This is a shared account between all of the admins of the league.

Unfortunately, we feel that the second discussion point can be said about any event. We felt that at this juncture, a Nation Wars event made sense and would yield more competition than many alternatives. We would like however, to limit the discussion on this as it isn't particularly inspiring and doesn't contribute to anything positive.

The second point is crucial - how are you supposed to organize a team without knowing who you can recruit? That's not a "negative contribution", it's something organizers need to know.

We aren't encouraging merged countries at this point, but it is a possibility. We also have a stand-in policy ready, so nations should primarily focus on their own activity and then once we have an idea of how active a nation is, we will review the options available for their situation.
