The open Tournaments for War of the States has finally come to a close... after 3 grueling weeks, over 60 participants from the USA coming together to duke it out, we have complied a list of the top 16 performers... The final tournament will be divided into two different days ... Saturday January 6th, and Sunday January 7th. The starting time for both days will be 21 CET (3pm EST, 12pm PST). The place, as all previous tournaments... op Xeris[LighT] .
MAPS and RULES - All WGT ladder rules apply, as well as general rules regarding manner and behavior. Don't turn this tournament into a flamefest! - There will be a starting map for each round, and then the loser will choose from among the map pool (map pool was selected by the gamers). - The map pool will consist of: 1. Tau Cross (WB round 3 starting map) 2. Arcadia (LB round 5 starting map) 3. Longinus (LB Final starting map) 4. Rush Hour 3 (LB round 3 starting map) 5. Blitz (Grand Final starting map) 6. Peaks of Baekdu (WB round 4 starting map) 7. Gaia (WB / LB round 2 starting map) 8. Luna (WB round 1 starting map) 9. Paranoid Androide (LB round 4 starting map) 10. Important - All replays MUST be saved and uploaded to the draw, if you don't have a replay, you have to re-play the match. - Puntuality is good, players should arrive 30 minutes prior to start, and be ready to start exactly at 21 CET. No-shows will be replaced by backups after 15 minutes. - ALL games are bo3 (even loser bracket) ... except for the Grand Final, which will be Bo5, with the winner bracket winner starting with a 1-0 lead. - If any players have questions or concerns, please contact me.

this is nony on friend's account. i wont be playing since i have access to nothing better than a laptop, and while that worked for the qualifier, i wont bother at the final. xeris ignored my request for a change of date. i'd also like to say that for those of you predicting me any lower than first, i know you do so knowing that im out of practice. i reaffirm what's lurking in everyone's mind: yes, i would win with ease if i was in practice. hf

Ya I'm sure Xeris just completely blew you off. Changing the date for 20 other players for you would be so easy.

and how many players had a problem with a different date? you didn't even ask or try. you ignored my request because you have a vendetta against me, because you're an irresponsible and bad tournament host, and because you're a jackass. hf

he did blow me off. he thought "i want it on this date and nobody else has a problem with it but nony, so i'll just say fuck nony". im sure he knew that there exists a date where none of the 16 players have a problem but since he got 15/16 and the 1 happened to be me, he didnt bother.
nony even if he did just say in his mind "fuck this kid im not gonna change date for him" u deserve it. u were a complete fucking jackass in the qualifying tournament, u slowed everything down and generally were just being a pain in the ass for everyone. ur pretty much the only person that has a problem with him, and ur also the only person that ive ever seen him get mad it. maybe if u hadnt been such a jackass in the first tourny he would try to help u but because u acted the way u did, who gives a shit. besides u said urself that u werent going to win, so shut the fuck up.

Lol how self centered are you ? If 1 out of 16 people doesn't like the date I picked, what kind of person would reschedule a tournament around the requests of one person? If WCG USA is September 10th and you tell them you don't like that day, do you expect WCG organizers to be like "oh Nony doesn't like the day, let's go ahead and change it." Get over yourself.
Nony do you seriously think because you have a known "name" that you should somehow get preferential treatment? You're no more special than any other player and you're seriously a selfish little asshole if your attitude is STILL

Also, calling Xeris a bad tournament host is fucking moronic considering he arranged everything, he has had something like 140 players play. Meanwhile you're over here calling HIM irresponsible when YOU can't make the set date and try to have the entire tournament moved for your convenience. Given the way you interact with other people I'd also hazard to guess you were anything but polite in making said request.
Conclusion: It's hard to take someone with a first grader attitude and a preschool intellect seriously. Grow the fuck up.
Idra, nobody takes you seriously. And just because he draws a parallel between a major and a minor tournament doesn't mean it is somehow incorrect; the point he is making is that other people should not be inconvenienced for a spoiled, rude, and whiney player (reminds me of you as well, come to think of it).

its much easier to change the time of a minor online tournament than a major offline one, chances are if he had changed it to saturday and announced it early enough (or whatever) no one woulda had a problem with it. and if nobody takes me seriously why do you feel the need to reply to every post i make?
Idra ... the tournament IS Saturday, January 6th .... all matches except the loser bracket final and grand finals will be played. Those last two matches are saved for sunday.
Since the tournament is mostly saturday, there is a lot of flexibility for Sunday's games, I'm sure there won't be a problem with wgtcl\bwcl conflicts. I have WGTCL at 21 CET as well, so I'm obviously aware of that problem, so there shouldn't be any issues.
Ya, it's easier to change the time of an online tournament as opposed to WCG, but then again, I had already picked a date, people had agreed to it, probably marked it on their calendars or something to make sure to be there, it would be more of a hassle to reschedule an entire tournament based on ONE persons' preference than it would be to just move on with it and have one person dissatisfied.
And Nony, you can say what you want about my organizational skills... out of the 100 or so people who played in this tournament, you were one of two people who complained, and your complaints mainly centered around me not catering to YOUR interests, as opposed to those of everyone else in the tournament.

hence the (whatever), the point was just that it probably coulda been moved with some prior warning without too much hastle.
I tried 1 exp ultralisks and 3 gate zeal/dt/goon and lost both games to idra >_<
All 3 games vs skew were gg's and close. The game I won was 35 minutes intense game. The games he won were massive pressure on me until i collapsed. Amazing job running these things Xeris, you have been doing great.

lol Nony. Hap and Epic, who replaced people who didn't come were 1st and 2nd backups. I chose the backups out of the 6 people who showed up to every tournament. The order of backups was determined by their placings in each tournament. Hap and Epic had the highest placing, each of them was like top 8 in all the tournaments, so they were 1st and 2nd backups.

I never said you picked him because he's on your team, just said that you replaced me with someone on your team. Anyway, you fucked me in the ass just for your own convenience so you'll forever have my wrath.

vanilla is mexican/american. Can I hear more about this hacking thing? Are we positive? I thought NOBODY was retarded enough to hack in this day and age.
watching the reps is about as close as you can get to 100% without him clicking a unit he 'cant' see. he perfectly mirrored/countered the motion of units he didnt have vision of (when lings moved to attack he pulled back to defend, then when they backed off he moved out again, and he did that like 3 times in a row at exact same time) he had his ovie off to the side where it didnt have vision of a path then responded with lings as if he did have vision of the mmf moving across the path. countered builds perfectly (vs proxy 2 gate he 12 pool then hatch on ramp) he makes absolutely no attempt to hide it, it was pretty funny actually. i think he mightve been kicked from uT) from it too, someone said the uT admins were looking over it.

I thought there was a ton of hacking in the online WCG prelims in recent years. Just one instance among many, of course.

i've seen posts of him seems mature, why would he get banned? (the posts i remember don't look AT ALL like the stickman's posts)
Because he publically gave away his password to his initial account because he is an emo fuck and "posting wasn't good for me"..
Because after that, he believes he can come back here and still post because he thinks he has a name in BW.
Because he is flaming a guy who is working very hard to keep a US BW scene from disappearing altogether?
There are many reason Nony gets banned. I respect him for his contributions to BW< but I don't respect his actions of late, because they are cowardly and pathetic.
Xeris, keep up the good work, this tournament is what the US scene needs. Nice to see some new faces shine.
i see, i didn't know him @ all except i read that he was v good and had many followers even tho i never saw him winning anything serious, and a post he made @ strategy forum which was ok and intelligent.
Xeris very nice work, and good luck with LighT in Div 1 iG vs LighT will be very nice : ).
Me want them reps! and i knew Skew would win nice job !

I don't think he was being "emo" he just didn't feel like posting anymore so he did something spontaneous to try to get banned. He wasn't trying to attract attention to himself. He is actually a very normal and intelligent guy, emo is the last word I would use to describe or his actions.

Yep, I think so too. Too bad he didnt use his intelligence to, you know, just stop posting.

There are lots of high post-count quality posters who ask to be temp-banned or permanently banned. You can simply ask an admin.
Vanilla was very funny about it. When I told him he was banned for maphack he honestly tried to deny it... but the games were SO ridiculously obvious it wasn't even funny. It was like he was trying to get caught.
Anyways, thanks for the support guys :D I'm going to try to host even more tournaments in the future.
For people asking about the Canadian ones ... Right now, I'm pretty busy because my gf is in town for 1 more week before she goes back to college, so I'll be spending most of my time with her... but after that I'm free, so it'll most likely be NEXT week.
On January 07 2007 22:58 Xeris wrote: By the way Skew and Idra .. can you guys please play real games ? -_-
I wont force you but it sort of defeats the purpose of this tournament to have the finals played in such a way.
Might as get some good games out for the community to see, and just to get some ggs for yourselves.
Anyways, if you guys really want the finals to be random ass rvr games, that's fine... but I'd really prefer if you played real games. Thanks.
how funny, he beat me in the winners braket of the 3rd week tournament and i didn't have pp on either. i thought he was playing way better than normal but i just assumed he got better.

you are always welcome to leave your GF to me for a week, if it helps you to host better tournaments. just kidding. great job for hosting a great tournament!
sounds like a good tournament idra u've come a long way in the last year or 2 my friend and alex u fucking suck quit taking fucking breaks n u'll actually be a top player but no u gotta get pretty good then take a break u emo bastard! <3 heh
against Lzgamer, if the replays are even in the pack, but on topic, skew was relatively unknown to me also until just recently, but everyone says hes good so i must believe them ;D
On January 10 2007 16:45 zulu_nation8 wrote: so which replays are good examples of vanilla hacking
1) vs lzgamer on gaia, he does an absolute bullshit build that would not work vs anything other than proxy gates, and his ovie path changes as soon as the proxy pylon is made. he never actually scouted lz's base, either, but knew where to go with lings. 2) vs lzgamer on luna, he sends 7th or 8th scv straight to lz's base to stop expo. then later his marines follow the movement of the hidden lings back and forth 4 or 5 times (this was the most concrete proof in my opinion) 3) vs skew on luna, his lings attack skew's nat as soon as the marines leave to head toward vanilla's exp. at first glance it may appear that vanilla's ovie saw the marines, but if you watch the replay with vanilla's vision only you can see that the ovie did not see them. 4) vs some toss on luna game 1, the protoss goes 2 gates at his nat, vanilla goes ramp hatch without scouting the gates. 5) vs some toss on luna game 2, the protoss goes fast exp, and vanilla makes a hatch at his exp without scouting the toss fe.
Christ Vanilla is so bad at hacking. I played him in a couple 2:2s the other day and even I thought he was hacking, but had no concrete proof and didn't care enough to watch the replay (since my team won 2-0)
