Background:
With the first Crimson Starleague Invitational being a relative success, the second installment of Crimson Starleague will also act as an Invitational, and also partly due to unfortunate event that occurred during the first Starleague.
The league is welcome, but not limited to, mainly max D- to C+ players, and B- players are welcome to play if they signed up with an offrace.
Format:
The format will go through a Round-of-32 Group Stage, with 4 players divided among each group, played via MSL format (First two initial games, Winner's and Loser's match, final match). From the 16-players to advance, there will be another Group Stage, but this time, going through a Round Robin format, with two players advancing from each group. Beginning at the Round-of-8, it will become a single-elimination, playoff bracket.

RULES- Winners must send replays to crimsonstarleague@live.com
- Players are allowed to reschedule, but not past the deadline it is required to be played on. If postponements are absolutely necessary, then please PM me.
- Players are not allowed to race-pick and are not allowed to change races during the tournament. Players that do not play with their original race must let me know BEFORE the league starts.
- If players do not make contact with their opponents, PM me and I will make the decision regarding walkovers or rescheduling.
- All games must be played with Anti-Hack and ChaosLauncher with LAN Latency.
- If a player disconnects within 2 minutes of the start of a game, then the game must be replayed. If a player disconnects past the 2 minute mark, please contact me and show me the replay. I will make the decision regarding a regame, or whether a verdict will be made.

Longinus IS in the map pool...
The map poll is there so that maps can be replaced, not whether one is more standard than the other.
For 4 player maps, Colosseum is the map up in the air to be replaced, and apparently, Circuit Breaker is the ideal choice. For 3 player maps, Triathlon is the map up in the air to be replaced, and Neo Medusa is the ideal choice. For 2 player maps, Monty Hall SE is the map up in the air to be replaced, and Polaris Rhapsody is the ideal choice.
I might be changing Fighting Spirit out with another map like La Mancha but I haven't decided completely yet, especially since everyone HAS to play on FS and there's probably going to be some angry folks if there isn't FS...

Well, I voted for Icarus to replace Colloseum. You probably don't want to redo the poll at this point, but since you're considering getting rid FS I think Luna + Toadstone + Icarus would be a pretty nice variety for 4 player map pool.
I think the main concern with maps like Monty Hall and Triathalon is that it's next to impossible to get a meaningful practice game on these maps that don't/rarely see any map of the week action. So people vote for a map that they already know/know they can get practice games on. On the other hand "funky" maps can be a great excuse for a loss so players may want to factor that into their voting as well. Like, "hey i didn't know this map at all hope you lose next round" or "wtf Astral Balance is a better map than this piece of shi.t"
Speaking of funky maps have you considered using the classic blizzard 2 player map "Crystallis." I think it would be a fine addition to this league.

When the choice is FS vs Luna I would much rather have Luna in, because Toadstone is similar enough to FS we don't need 2 very similar maps in the map pool. Not to mention Luna has seen about zero action in foreign leagues. Also, quoting map stats from pro games is not relevant here, this is a C+ max league remember.

Luna's positional imbalance is fucking ridiculous. Defending vs. Mutalisks as P at the 1 o'clock base + nat is way harder than any other base. 5 o'clock has an almost decent nat while others are retarded. Luna is a stupid map compared to modern ones.

I think the reasoning for players nowadays not wanting maps like Nostalgia and Luna is because the builds nowadays don't match with those maps at all. Nostalgia's natural doesn't even have a gas, which would force Zerg players to either get an expansion far away, or go 9pool speedling. It's not an ideal map for Terran mech play. The giant chokes aren't ideal for Forge fast expand. I'm not saying these are the reasoning for not using these maps, I'm saying these are the reasoning for players not wanting them. I, personally, could play on any map and have a fun time... Except Heartbreak Ridge. Fuck Heartbreak Ridge.

Maybe use one of the maps used in SBWI? I find that players generally feel more comfortable on maps if they can watch games of high level players aka top foreigners + korean tournaments playing on the map...

What's wrong with Circuit Breaker, Ground Zero, Icarus or even something like Empire of the Sun?
There are a ton of decent four player maps that aren't played very often. They're all pretty different from Fighting Spirit. You can have variety without having to put silly maps in. Arkanoid would give variety.

I wanna avoid using the same maps from last season, save for Fighting Spirit, because of course, it's a staple in every league. So with that, I want to avoid using Empire of the Sun and Ground Zero. And according to the poll, we have to assume that Circuit Breaker will be replacing Colosseum. If someone can find a BWMN map that's 4-player that would appreciate an exposure in a league, hit me up. (I'm not going to use just the maps that SWBI uses, because that would just make it a reject SWBI league).
With that, I want 8 maps in the pool, 3 4-player maps, 2 3-player maps, and 3 2-player maps, so that I can get a fair amount of rotation among the maps and so that finalists can get map vetoes in.

In replacing Toad Stone, because of it's likeness and similarity to Fighting Spirit, I've been thinking about removing it with one of either Freakling's maps or CrystalDrag's maps, unless the players really don't mind Toad Stone.

Aha, TelecoM recommended Arcadia to me, but I would rather just put Judgement Day (which in my opinion, is virtually the same) in the map pool later on. As for Memory Cell, I've never even heard of that map before, but one day, I might put (2) Paradoxx next season, LOL...

If we're going to for 2 player maps that are a bit off-beat, why not go a little less extreme and therefore more popular and go with something like Loki 2? My favorite Kespa map. It's like Blue Storm + God's Garden + a more dramatic Alternative >^o^<

Rush Hour III is imho one of the best maps, which do not provide a big fighting field and generally tight maps.
It plays out really different than normal maps, but it does not get too freaky (like Outsider sometimes), so this might also be a nice 3 player map to think about.

As a viewer I think it's fun to include at least - and not more than - one non-standard map.
Think of some funky strategies we might see that aren't competitively viable on standard maps like FS.
If you limit it to just one non-standard map it shouldn't be too hard on the players.
You'll never be able to satisfy each and everyone equally anyway. Not the participants, nor the viewers.

Good point, but with your list, and judging by the polls, we'll have one of your determined non-standard map in Neo Chain Reaction. I sort of want to avoid incredibly imbalanced maps such as Tears of the Moon, which I believe was incredibly Zerg favored and Central Plains. Maps like Katrina or Rush Hour 3, where it's favoring one race, but not 100% entirely, are okay.
As for Toad Stone, I'm somewhat torn between whether to keep it or just replacing it with Roadkill/ChemLab. As others have said, Toad Stone is very similar to FS with just a few other differences, whereas Roadkill and ChemLab are completely different and offer a new taste.

Based on the poll being 10-1-1 in favor of Toadstone it looks like players/viewers would much rather see Toadstone and FS than no Toadstone. You can compensate for map similarity with your map rotation, using only one of them each week in the early rounds of the tournament when you only need 3 or 5 maps.

Castle on the other hand might make an upset and kick one of the favorites out, especially since he gets two chances to do so.

There's the A's and B's of the Ro32 group stages. A's are the ones that went 2-0 in the group, and B's are the one's that went 2-1. There's going to be 2 A's and 2 B's per group, and I'll just be distributing the names across 4 groups. If there's a case of an A and B from the same Ro32 group in the Ro16, I'll try and switch up the names, unless players don't mind that situation.
From then on, the Ro16 groups will be played Round Robin format, where every game will be played on Circuit Breaker.

Groups are set up so that whoever's name you're adjacent to (left/right), that's your first set.
Then if you win/lose, you'll play the winner/loser of the other set of groupmates, respectively.
Winner of the winner's match moves onto the Round-of-16, loser of the winner's match goes onto final match.
Winner of the loser's match goes onto the final match, loser of the loser's match is eliminated.
Winner of the final match moves onto the Round-of-16.

I played Iway once months ago and he did not seem to be C level, so even if he is the unknown component, I do not think he will make it past RulzBoooM. AoT is really solid and it is ZvZ, but flying definitly taking this. flying vs RulZ, will be as also pretty onesided I think. AoT vs Iway is a coinflip, but since I know AoT "better" I think he will take it. In the decider we will see an epic match between AoT and RulZBoooM, which imho can go either way, but I have to root for RulZ here, since we live in the same city^^

Position-wise I just took a wild guess, since I think position 1 and 2 is up to the randomness of the ZvZ in the winners match.

Still he can upset if train PvT, since I guess that the final match will be LTY vs Gohan. But if it was about betting money, my money would be on Gohan.

+ Show Spoiler +I think this group is the hardest to predict tbh. TelecoM is the clear favorite for the first spot, but I would not be too surprised if he dropped out in this group. PvP can be a bitch sometimes and I think TelecoM's PvP is not his best matchup. Neither is this the best matchup of L_Master (I'd even say it is his worst), but L_Master has definitly the mechanics and BO knowledge to surprise both TelecoM and Mewka. Even if I'd say Mewka is the favorite against L_Master in any BoX (with X > 1), I'd say L_Master can take him out. Still my guess would be that TelecoM first takes out L_Master and Mewka takes out arb. I do not know who will win in Mewka vs TelecoM at all, but I "flipped a coin" and decided it will be TelecoM. arb is definitly capable of taking out L_Master, but I think L_Master is the clear favorite and will eliminate arb from the tournament. In the end I come back to my conclussion that L_Master will have a small edge in a Bo1 against Mewka and will take him out surprisingly. Still anyone can make it out of this group. I believe that even arb can go 2-0, but it is really unlikely.
Group G:
1. plus
2. Sero
+ Show Spoiler +plus gonna win this tournament, if he avoids a strong Ro16 group with f.e. Talent, Trozz and RulzBooM, where he gets knocked out in a Bo1, so no question about his first place in this group stage. DNH and smokeybear are both really really strong terrans for the D+/C- segment of players, but since Sero's main race is Terran, he knows Terrans weaknesses the best. His PvZ might be bad and he will definitly get crushed hard by plus, but I think his PvT will carry him through this groupstage. DNH will win against smokey and then fail in the winners match against plus. Sero will roll over smokebear and have a decider against DNH, which will come down to the question how much DNH trained for this. If he is in top condition, I think DNH will win pretty easily against Sero's Protoss, but since I actually didnt see DNH in Skype online for the last few decades, he will go down.
Group H:
1: Radley
2. Talent
+ Show Spoiler +castle destroys Stardom easily, while the other opening match is really hard to predict. Radley vs Talent will dedice the winner of this groupstage imho. Since New Bloody Ridge is the starting map, I think Terran has a small advantage and thus having Radley advance. Radley vs castle will be closer than you might expect, but I still do not see Radley losing this. Talent rolling over Stardom in convincing fashion will be the opener to the real nail-biter. Talent vs castle will be probably one of the best PvP matchups in this season, as Talent is one of the overall favorites of the tournament and castle being known for his PvP. I hope we will see a 30 minutes epic clash on Longinus, where both players are on the edge of winning, but finally Talent pulling through with his overall higher skill-level.

Of course, in the end, this is definitely my fault. Not only should I have seen if Gorg was actually on or not, but I should've taken the time before replacing players.
I don't want to be rude and take back the words to traceurling, but Gorg, if you can/want to still play, I'd be appreciative if you did. If not, then traceurling will be taking your spot. As for traceurling, you can always reschedule your games before the date in case the designated date doesn't work out for you.
Again, this is my fault, and I take full responsibility.

For players that don't think they'll be able to make the date on Saturday, if you CAN play your first game before Saturday, and schedule the Winner's/Loser's match and final match by Sunday or Monday, that's okay too.
Also, somewhat last minute, but due to last minute concerns, I won't be able available on Saturday on the designated time but I WILL try and check any PMs that come in before, during, or after the date, so please try and be orderly ;D

I have no problem with pp at all. Just if monday, around the regular time will be fine and saturday i play drit (which should not interfere, as it is a bit later than this one here).

I was too busy to play much earlier this month, and, like I said, not being able to play on Saturday was something that popped up this week, which is when I had planned to have more time to play.
Basically, people have other obligations than BW, and it can be difficult to coordinate times between multiple people with fixed schedules, especially if they are in different time zones.
I don't like having to withdraw either, but it's important to have some perspective.
In short, shit happens.

For the situation with Group F, depending on the responses I get from TelecoM, Lmaster ,arb, and Mewka, I might just be replacing the 4 with players that lost in the group stages for a 2nd chance. Of course, it's somewhat weird to have losers get a second chance, but it's also unfair that players didn't show up, regardless of the reason.

If BOTH parties agree, which in this case, would be Gorg and dazed., then you guys can keep playing. If not, then for the sake of keeping things fair, it's gonna have to be a walkover.

They ARE lame, which is why I was hoping players would schedule before today or at least schedule for the next day, but I still need to have results on time, otherwise, it'll just become a slippery slope where matchups are announced late and games are played even later.

Player A couldnt show at time. Player A and B then agree on time to play. Game is then played.
If you are talking about getting through a group where things have to get played in a certain order then yea it can take a significant amount of time, but I'm not sure how players thinking w/o will not be enforced affects anything.

what? If someone knows walkover won't be enforced then they know they can delay playing their game beyond the scheduled day without consequence. You are missing the point that this league is intended to not have any games played AFTER the scheduled date. You are supposed to pre-play the games if you can't play at the scheduled date.

But yeah, new players instead of second chance would be better. i think the problem is time. next round is scheduled for next weekend and people want to practice beforehand. using players from the tournament is faster than searching for new ones. Im not sure...puppykiller asked for being offracing as zerg or something? maybe i got chosen after all the others were eliminated players...idk.

With the Ro16 approaching and a lack of results, at this point, I'm having players that I know are capable of getting their games played quickly, so that's my reasoning is putting greenelve in rather than another new player.
Sorry, but I'm a bit skeptical to new folks now because of the unreliability with the no-shows, no-notice and I'd rather get things played ASAP.

However, you should consider scheduling 2 weeks for the next round. Since all games will be bo1 there is a decent chance that people will need to play tiebreakers...

Well, it's not a matter of watching or casting the group, but it's just a matter of knowing the results of the group.
I just think it's a bit unfair to the players that's already moved onto the Ro16 that if they get paired of with someone that's supposed to be from Group F, they won't know who it'll be until Group F is finished, and it'll be a disadvantage for the player that's already in the Ro16 and a slight advantage for the players from Group F. But if people are okay with me extending the date and casting Ro16 groups anyways, that's fine with me.

F1 is the player that 2-0's Group F and F2 is the player that 2-1's Group F. Group F has yet to be finished because the initial members didn't show up so I replaced almost everybody and we're waiting on Group F results soon.
In terms of skill quality, Group B is group of death, by far. O.o

What I mean is that Rulzboom is like d+/c- and Plus is playing offrace, so I assume that flyingjelly will win 2-1 and Talent 2-0. Doesn't seem like a group of death because it's obvious who will advance, the group of death is normally when anyone can get out of the group.

I can and will take the time to play drit Ro8 (which makes me look like professional  and i can drown the result in alcohol, wether in joy of victory or frustation of losing ), but im not sure if i can afford the extra time to play crimson on the given time too. But this is just in the case we finish group F in time and im one of the two advancing players. If, and i emphatize if, i this happens. Otherwise i will be eliminated or group stage is delayed and there is nothing to worry about...(from my point of view...)....

Although I don't want to necessarily force you to play or not play, but regardless of the results, I think it's easier to learn and improve more from a loss than a win, and continuing to play and wanting to improve after consecutive losses makes you a stronger player in itself.

So I asked a couple of participating players about what I could do to make the league better in any way, shape, or form. Some of the responses were being slightly more lenient on walkovers, due dates, and allowing postponements when last-minute cases occur, distributing games to other casters and not keeping them all for myself, and later designated game times for the American players.
Of course, I would like everyone's opinion on the matter, so if anyone has the time, feel free to comment on anything from something you like about the league, something new you would want to see next season, or something you wouldn't want to see in later seasons. Feedback is always good, and I'm open to ideas as always.

I like this league because although there are some level differences, the league has still remained competitive and not lopsided, basic skill vs preparation can make a big difference in our scene and it often shows in this kind of setting.
As for improvements, nothing concrete although making the play time an hour or two later would probably be quite fair in terms of letting the U.S. players sleep more but not conflicting with EU players saturday evenings too much.
In general though I think players should work harder to play before designated time, but this is not really up to your organisation.
As for casting, I think if others want to cast they should just shout in thread and you can PM them a dl link for reps or whatever.

Ah, in terms of changing up the Ro16 into another group stage, I will admit that I figured it wouldn't have a great reception because like you said,scheduling and what have you becomes a problem. My reasoning for trying this out was to incorporate for MSL and OSL format group stages, but I'll be sure to take your notice into consideration.

I think the real issue here is the fact that the group games are allowed to not be played all at once, rather than the format itself. Ro32 games are bo1 as well, so those are a waste of time too? Personally I think this Ro16 format is interesting and good because careful preparation is quite important when you're playing 3 bo1 against 3 different players.
I completely agree that the group stages can be rather disjointed and inconvenient when most of the time someone from the group can't play at the designated time. I'm not sure if there's a realistic solution though when it's quite difficult to get 4 players to play their games all at one time when someone needs to play early.

Updated Liquipedia, and as I stated during my cast, unfortunately, the series between me and castle[eMg] will be going uncasted since the 2nd game ended up becoming corrupted so I don't want to just show the first game and nothing else. Maybe I'll cast the first game whenever I cast Radley vs LuMiX, but I don't see a reason to cast just that one game and end the series from there.
Anyways, for those that know who their Semi-Finals opponents are, don't forget that it is a best-of-5, with the maps Neo Chain Reaction, Longinus, Fighting Spirit, Neo Medusa, and New Bloody Ridge!

If you two don't play by the designated time, there's going to be a walkover from one player. I can't have a series go a week postponed, and there's also the matter of Plus having to prepare for a matchup that he still doesn't know yet for the next round.

Placed 3rd last season after beating EleGant[AoV] via walkover.

Again, as I stated during the Finals cast, and the Finals LR thread, thank you to all of the players for playing actively and thank you to all the viewers for supporting us. Congratulations to the champion of this season, Radley, and congratulations to flyingjelly for making it far into the tournament! Hope to see you all soon when Season 3 begins in mid to late May!
For the Crimson Starleague Invitational Season 3, it will be another invite-only league, but if you feel like your skill level is eligible for the league, and want an invite, feel free to PM me, and I will take it into consideration. If the semi-finalist of this season all decide to return for the upcoming season, I will try and implement a seeding system. As for now, I'm gonna take a break for a bit, start focusing on Maroon Starleague, and get my attention back onto primarily studying for school.
