China have a even higher level tournament than this one. This is one is actually called "2012 China SC:BW Forum Battles". The REAL CSTL featured 30 teams instead of only 5 listed here. Original Message From mcm_mingge: i have read you posts about SC in CHINA.And i want to tell you something about SC in CHINA; STL is short for StarCraft Team League,we have many starcraft amateur teams. You have found it ,almost 30.STL has held for 24 seasons ,not 23,and is in playoff these days .24th STL will end almost in 7,9.STL is divided into 3 groups.Group a,b,c.Every group consists of 10 teams. I think that you may be good at Chinese ,from this thread http://playsc.com/forum/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=281970&extra=page=1 ,It is forum battles, there are 5 famous forums about BW in china ,and they play against each other.. As for http://kan.games.sina.com.cn/u/play.php?uid=2446697112,,this thread is living the game. Many guys are living BW, SC is not dying in china. In the future, I'll try keep you posted on the genuine STL! P.S. I wish the mod can change the title to "2012 China SC:BW Forum Battles" now and move it to tournament section!

This needs to be organised so it is easy to pick up for anyone wanting to watch it. After watching wanfeng vs playSC and considering that was amateur I was impressed. edit: 1800 wut -.-

So I dont see it lasting too long T_T The current STL #24 is in PlayOff with 30 teams. Next one shall start in about a mouth after #24. And with C-OSL a continuous event. Potentially, we got ourselves a BW-only ProLeague, and an individual league. What we need is to get our own foreign guys playing in those tournaments. Then if we do well, this will spark even more interests. I think that if somehow the Foreign/South Korean Amateur/Chinese Player communities came together and work hard to revive Brood War scene, our game can bloom once again.

So I dont see it lasting too long T_T Please don't take good news and shit on it with baseless pessimism. If you wanna make a well thought out thorough and researched post about trends and the conclusions we can draw from them, ok, but if you hear good news about BW being alive and well in China I don't see why you feel the need to post 'soon it'll be dead there too' even tho there are no signs or reasons to believe this. Korean proscene was a huge loss, but it's not all she wrote about BW. If we look at this from a positive angle, it is huge motivation for China to step up their game. Who would watch China while there was a well-structured and accessible proscene in korea? Not many people. Who will watch it now? Everyone who still wants to see BW. That's a big incentive for them to make themselves accessible now that they are within range of becoming the #1 place for BW.

I can't believe that we overlooked them for a such a long time. If people in TL would have discovered this scene sooner, including the South Korean scene, we would have two strong shoulders to stand on and things would be VERY different.

Every single one of them are embedded with deep history of their creation. They even have banners and uniforms for the players, it truly feels like a family. I hope that in the future, these storylines can be channeled into the heart of TLers. The 30 teams reps each of their perspective provinces, they show great native pride on what they do. I can't believe that we overlooked them for a such a long time. If people in TL would have discovered this scene sooner, including the South Korean scene, we would have two strong shoulders to stand on and things would be VERY different. Not to start an argument but, the popularized western conception that China (or even worse, generalized to the Chinese people) is somehow an unquantified evil communist country didn't help this and probably contributed to why it was overlooked for so long. Thanks for all the work you've done on this, I've been busy and frustrated with my internets.
