Four players remain in the Altitude ISL3, meaning we're soaring into the Semifinals this coming weekend. A zerg, a terran and two protosses remain to vie for 2000$ worth of prizemoney. Tune in again on Saturday and Sunday to watch who will overcome who in two more gruelling Best of 7s. Read on to find out more!
Both these players are looking absolutely beastly, both advancing from their respective Quarterfinals with 4-0 victories. Needless to point out we have a tip-top match coming up as these two titans clash. The question we might ask ourselves though involves the match-up. Sziky's ZvT looked good against Bizzy, but did defeat in his showmatch against Oops' Han unnerve him any? Bibiane has been as elusive as ever, but the TvZ match-up did eliminate him from ISL2. Are any old warscars still itching? These musings can probably be dismissed though - both players have proven themselves thoroughly vested in the competitive scene and will definitely bring their a-game. Look forward to this one!
dOTY vs Semih
Both players have been on a tear. As far as the ISL leagues go, they both kind of came out of nowhere, but their combined efforts so far have already knocked out invites Michael and Ace as well as ISL2 top finisher Sneazel. dOTY may have the momentum going into this series, just coming out of a 4-0 PvP victory, while Semih had a close enough series with Michael. dOTY is confident he can win, and has a winning record knocking Semih out of an earlier qualifier. Don't count Semih out just yet though - in last week's interview he already hinted at wanting revenge and as we speak he's probably gearing up for getting some.
Interview with dOTY
You're in the Semifinals of the ISL3, you must be feeling pretty good.
Yes i feel pretty good, i was suprised about the outcome of my series vs sneazel, i definitly expected it to be harder, dont wanna sound disrespectful here though. But yeah i'm glad i already came that far
Did you expect to be able to get this far?
Before the brackets for the ro32 came out i was sure i'll make it far. But then the brackets came out and i kinda like had a zerg only bracket and since pvz is my worst i kinda felt like "damn" because ace-karate-kolll ( i expected kolll to win against sneazel tbh) isnt an easy task at all, especially if pvz is your worst obviously. But after beating ace i felt alot more comfortable with my pvz since i practised alot for it ( shouts here to my german buddy Red for helping me practise).
So you say Sneazel was a bit easier than you expected. He's the ISL2's 4th place finisher and you just destroyed him 4-0! Wanna tell me about that series? How did it go for you?
Well um i dont mean he was an easy opponent in general. I was checking some replays of him and realized he loves playing 12 nex or fast darks (+horror gates sometimes, with which he killed me one on gambit) so i played safe against it which made the game themself easy. As people pointed out it werent too exciting games, except the 4th game maybe, but well thats how it goes if someone goes darks in pvp, it often ends fast, like in the 1st and 2nd game. 3rd match i decided to proxy gate since i felt like he wont expecting it, as i seen on the cast he did but he was unlucky and exactly scouted around my proxys so yeah.... and as mentioned the 4th was the most close match, he used his speed shuttle very good + i'm so slow on my new comp so he was able to catch some probes :D. But luckylie it still was enough and i could take it.
Yeah the 4th game was probably the longest one. Do you remember when you knew you had won?
Haha kinda, before i so often was like " god you so lost this match" then when he lost his shuttle + reaver i felt counter would kill him, then sadly i wasted my shuttle as well and again i was like ok that was it, but 100% sure i was when i realized i actually do have a observer, so i could kill his darks defnding his 3rd, so that was the point i knew i got it.
So next weekend you're up against Semih. After what you said about your matchups, I guess you prefer playing him over Michael?
Yes that is very correct, even though by now, as mentioned before, i feel more comfortable with my pvz than before isl. But i feel like pvp is an easy matchup and Semih i know i can beat ( I played him on the first qualification tour and gone 2-0). I expect to win, but close, like 4-2.
So you're confident you can make the Grand Finals?
If my builds work out and i get a bit lucky ( pvp can be so random ) definitely. Even though Semih is very strong and i respect his skills, it will be a close series for sure
So if you defeat Semih, who would you rather see in the Finals? Sziky or Bibiane?
I'd rather face Bibiane, since PvT is my best matchup and yeah - pvz my worst. But i'd be fine with both, only making the grandfinals would be awesome already. And i feel like i could defeat both, but well first i have to concentrate on beating Semih, haha.
Any predictions on the other Semifinals?
Hard to tell, Sziky obviously is the favourite most of the time, but i was told Sziky's ZvT isnt unbeatable + Bibiane seems to be in good shape, beating protect 4-0. I predict a close win for sziky, 4-2 or 4-3.
Ok cool. Well, thank you for the interview, and best of luck in the upcoming match! I'll leave you the last word for anything you'd like to say. Be it shoutouts or warcries at your opponent or whatever =)
No problem, thank you as well. I'd like to give a shoutout to Altidude / twitch tv for making this tournament possible and keeping Starcraft Broodwar alive, thanks to tl.net with its great coverage of these tournaments, thanks to LRM)Game to give everything he can to host great tournaments. Thanks to all the casters, to all viewers, and all people who are rooting for me of course. I try to get as far as i can. Last shout again to Red who is my biggest "fan" and supporter on my ISL3 run, always motivating and practising with me, so yeah your the best . And well : Semih i'm coming for you ! ;D. thanks!

lots of 4-0's in the quarterfinals.. pro7ect vs bibiane: quite surprised bibiane aced pro7ect, I thought pro7ect was better.. sziky vs technics: also surprised sziky won 4-0 with zvz, I thought technics was good michael vs semih: gj to semih for winning straight up (standard builds every game) doty vs sneazel: not sure who doty is or how he 4-0'd sneazel
I'm looking forward to seeing both Sziky vs Bibiane and especially dOTY vs. Semih! This is going to be such an awesome semi-finals!!! I'm already so pumped :D
Semih/dOTY is close but I think that dOTY has better mind games and since his micro is strong he will probably take this series. For Bibiane/Sziky it's obvious that Sziky will win 4-1 or 4-0, no offense to bibiane but bizzy couldn't do anything against Sziky, so I don't expect bibiane to do either. I expected Bibiane to beat pro7ect cause pro7ect has been playing pure sc2. dOTY's hidden practice is very nice tho thought he wouldn't be doing so well but I'm glad you won since I didn't help you prepare for your pvp.

We cant have a W.O in semifinals? If games are played i am absolutely sure it will be sziky-doty. Doty has really impressed me, and sziky is sziky. Bibiane seems beastly though so im hoping for a close series!
Sziky obviously favourite, but Bibiane has a slight chance. dOTY Semih really not sure, if only because it's PvP. One thing is sure though ; it's going to be awesome.
Congrats to Doty. Amazing series between you and Semih. I think you both deserve a round of applause, not only in making it this far, but putting on some good games in the process. Hats off to Semih for showing his skill, taking it to a 7th game, and both players just playing really well. Congrats to both of you.
Pro7ect stops playing BW, and leaves the scene with 7 tournament losses in a row. (0-4 against Bibiane and 3 losses in tiebreakers) Feels somehow sad and justified at the same time.

Look at the bright side. Instead of going 0-7 in the last matches he got eight place in Isl3 >_<

I understand Sayle' s reaction, i lol' ed. semifinals ISL Ace match? IMO if they wanted to put it in the map pool maybe they should have done it for game3 or game4, or possibly in the 5-8 places match. When i had read it in the thread beforehand i though it was some kind of mistake LOL.
In the end of the day it is up to players to know the maps when they are annoucend beforehand, but still, a touch un-professional imo if you consider how big this tournament is. More than questioning the map, i am doubting the decision to put it as an ace match map

Indeed! I had never seen this map before but I don't care about it anymore. As the guy above me wrote, that game on Neo Forte was so epic! Even more epic considering this was game 7 out of a bo7!
