UED Gaming and Xsplit are proud to bring you another highly entertaining event: the Xsplit $100 Random Invitational!
We invited sixteen of the finest foreign players to duke it out on the 5th. February at 20:00 CET. Since we have had enough of ordinary BW Tournaments lately we made sure that this elite circle needs to show their ability to adopt to unusual situations and prove that they're able to think outside the box. We will force them to pick random as their race in every single set down to the very end. I bet you don't see this happen to often!
Invites
- Sziky
- Ace
- Kashu
- Michael
- Bakuryu
- Sneazel
- Terror
- Lossilohi
- Pro7ect
- dOTY
- Semih
- SouthPark
- PaSs
- Gotunk
- TechnicS
- Flaf
Prizes
- 1st: $50
- 2nd: $25
- 3rd: $15
- 4th: $10
Tournament Mode
The 16 players will be randomly seeded into a double elimination bracket with the modus being a best of three in the upper bracket and a best of one in the lower bracket. While the winner bracket will be using “Shout” (tell races after game start), the players in the LB will need to scout for themself. This hopefully increases the tension in the LB, makes more room for upsets, drama and risky play. Remember, it's not about fair, it's about fun!

Replays
the WB&LB Finals are included - don't spoiler yourself if you want to watch the cast!

Why u dont invited me? (((((((
|
|
yay nice I predict Pro7ect vs Sziky finals
|
Sad seeing that Michael isn't there being as he's one of the best who plays all races. Though, Good Luck to all the players who are there... Betting on Sziky unless he gets some horrible luck i.e. Offrace vs Main every time... which even then against some opponents he'd win
|
Winner takes all?
|
I see a lot of good players missing. I'm wondering if players like Choosy, Kolll, Michael, or Pike were invited? Edit: Players are going to find it exceedingly difficult to beat Kashu and Semih at random. For those who didn't know, Semih dabbles in other races quite frequently, because he's a slut.
|
w0000000t this is like the most interesting bw tournament ever to me and im not in it.. hopefully i will be able to play as a back up as im really interested in playing in this.
I love how you dont tell your race in the loser bracket although it should be the same in winner bracket for lulz
|
Wooo! More foreign scene BW tournaments!
I'd put a line here about how I'm liking the support these companies are giving BW but I'm afraid of using words that will offend BW fans or SC2 fans so this is the best I can do.
Anyway, really happy as I enjoy the foreigner scene as much as the pro scene. GL everyone
|
can I join the backup list? I hit a- last season edit: nvm im like D offrace
|
sneazel is good random :=
|
so anyone like to tell me a t and p build?....
|
sounds like its going to be really fun
|
Sneazel or Pro7ect probably going to win because I don't think most of those players even play offrace

I've just saw that im suposed to play rnd, so im not playing, I dont have enought time to play something with 1 race.

awesoooome !

You should really consider getting Michael/Choosy/Pike as main players, rather than backup! With such a good sponsor I find it intriguing that some of the best foreign players aren't invited. o.o Anyways GL for all players!
PS: Bakuu Whaiting!!!

Kashu/sziky/sneazel/choosy/michael - some of those 5 player will win. When I think about it a little bit longer I would say that some1 from the last 3
|
Put me as backup, I used to be zerg gl with it.
|
It's gonna be my last chance to win Sziky :p joke
|
TechnicS is so scary when he offraces with toss. You win this, TechnicS!
|
I want to see some sick stuff out of kashu.
|
Go go more tours \m/

|
cool but, wheres choosy o_O and michael o_O

I think Gecko[Xp] is about the worst possible choice for a tournament organizer. Didn't he attempt to kill ISL1, ISL2, and potentially ISL3?
Regardless, it is for a good cause and will be entertaining.
|
Great players, great map pool, excellent organizer! Gecko jest zajebisty
|
Looks funny, but except for the few players who can actually play other races, I think it's impossible to beat an A- level player playing his main race if you are not also playing your main.

Nice format. Double elim with a high stakes LB is a pretty cool idea. I'm excited to see Sziky's PvZ again after his game vs TechnicS in nation wars.

Good stuff, will tune in!

I can't believe this. There's people out there putting together a tournament for the lot of you to watch, making up an evening of good, free entertainment and 50% of the replies here is "why isn't X in this tournament". Get it through your head: when there's an invitational, there is going to be a shitton of people who are not going to be invited. We can make a complaint about every single one of them but that doesn't really set the mood for a fun night of BW. There's a number of factors that might result in a player not being in the tournament. "Not getting an invitation" is only one of many and even that factor can have a large amount of reasons behind it. Aside from that, people might be out of town that day, busy studying for school and whatnot. The point is there is no place for you to be arguing over this. You can take this tournament and enjoy it and if all you want to do is whine you can take it somewhere else.
edit: I look forward to this. Reckon kashu will do very well. ^^ gl to all players! (literally)

Awesome concept, thanks for organizing this, I'll make sure to tune in!
I know Kashu has some experience playing random in tourneys, looking forward to the offraces of others!

Regardless, it is for a good cause and will be entertaining. If he was the greatest villain, then there will be no one mightier than him to stop HIS tournament! Logic, folks. Also, why dig up shit? Let the tournament run! I'm excited!

So whats up with this Kashu character, i need to know why he is so good at random and how good he really is. Someone pls explain?

He got 3rd place in ISL2 through race picking and occasionally playing random. You should check out his games vs Nb.Whistler in the Ro64, particularly their 2nd game on Icarus.
Edit: found Youtube link: + Show Spoiler +

This looks really fun! I haven't watched a foreigner tournament before or any starcraft in months, but this looks like it will be definitely worth a watch!
I don't know the players hence who to cheer for but I'm hoping for lots of abnormal strategies and delicious cheese.

+1
Though it's bound to happen when Eywa and Game don't get the players that they want in the tournament. Love how most of the suggested players are from LRM) .. Kolll Pike Choosy ... I'm glad that there are some other players instead of the typical 50% of the lineup is LRM ... think just the other tournament or something there were 7 LRM players .. rofl.

It's not a comment directed at the organization from my perspective, this is a discussion board is it not? And so I should be able to freely discuss how good Michael is at playing more than one race without being criticized ... I'm just stating that I would have liked to see him play, not saying that the current line up is bad or anything. Not to mention I also made discussion about the lineup that was there as far as my predictions...
Anyhow, I hope this runs smoothly.

Let's just put the entire roster of LRM on there then, lmao. Fair representation of players, teams, races, just because they're the top players of the "#1 team" which I doubt LRM is/will be doesn't justify putting those players in a limited invitational tournament.

Point: your post is moot @Sky, and opinions are opinions @both of you, but facts are facts, and you should take the time to learn them.
Disclaimer: My last post about not having certain players there.
If you took the time to ignore your bias, you'd realize I strictly asked where not only the best players in foreign BW are, but some of the best ones who have the ability to play random. On GosuGamers ELO (only available accurate one) #2, #4, #5, and #15: Michael, Kolll, Choosy, Pike. I do realize Michael was subbed in, specifically not inviting the LRM) players.
Regardless, I'm still going to watch this tournament due to the fact that I'm a random player, and love niche events like these, as is clear by the small tournaments I've hosted in the past.

Why do everyone think LRM)Technics offracing is so good? I am ignorant. Why does Draw not play more when he is one of the top five Protosses?

guys lets make love, not war
i give my spot to choosy, gogo choosy~~
reasons: 1. i expected this tournament to be without random specialists, but now that there is a whole bunch of random specialists, my chances to win a game with my D- level offraces aproaches 0 like no tomorrow. 2. choosy recently won the gambit allstar and is also a good random player, he deserves this spot more than me in my opinion 3. i hope choosy wont be sad if there is no enemy left for him in gambit today, just saying

Does he not play random in 1v1 and 2v2? What is so special with Michael's offracing? Does he play TvZ instead of ZvZ? Why do everyone think LRM)Technics offracing is so good? I am ignorant. Why does Draw not play more when he is one of the top five Protosses?
Race Picking != good random. People normally do only 1 matchup i.e TvZ if they are Z, so normally they would do ZvP ZvT TvZ, now with /RandomSelection they could get ZvZ, PvT, TvP, etc. That being said, these guys at least have good skill with their alternative races so they do get somewhat of an advantage, but I think people like Michael who ladder all matchups all races have the best shot at these events. Also, I am currently not playing in these events(even though I just got back from about a month break of gaming) and I declined a few offers because I am not as good in streamed events as my ladder games so I need more practice before I can actually win.

Thank you for the invite, it should be a fun tournament. Good luck to everyone

Since the internet is you're life I was expecting a detailed response/analysis etc, really don't have the time for this, but just pointing out your flaws ..

waste of time talking about who's in what clan blah.
it really doesn't matter if it's not hosted by LRM line for me, that's all.

I didn't really want to involve myself, but since Sky name dropped me as bias without any reason to do so, I'll give my opinion on some things that were said.
I don't care who participates in the tournament just as I said, one player I most wanted to see of those who weren't was Michael.
You guys are saying that LRM)Game is bias for his team? Of course he's fucking bias to his team, he's the leader... The only reason he's posting here is because you guys are bias against LRM which is a known fact (Made more obvious for anyone who would debate this by your posts), if you weren't bias he wouldn't have any reason to defend his team.
So, yeah... Please don't name drop me in things that don't even involve me Skye, I already had asked you to remove it... By not removing it + name dropping someone who wasn't involved you're looking to create drama (Also fact, why else would you name drop someone who doesn't even want to be involved?)..

To be honest, everyone should just stop please. Its really unconstructive to argue anything here. I bet this is amazing tournament and that organizer of this is intelligent enough to make it fair to everyone. Can't wait to see some random action and specially chats that are allowed!

I second Eywa. LRM has one invite, something that can't be denied. LRM)Game is known to be a random player and he was not invited. LRM)Mad is known to be a random player, and he was not invited. Neither were any of LRM's top players invited besides the replacement for Bakuryu, Choosy. Furthermore, it is a well known fact SethGeckoXP would never invite LRM)Game to his tournament due to bias. He has no reason to dislike LRM)Game besides a bias. As another proof of bias in the selection process, notice how Joekim wasn't selected. (Both LRM)Game and Joekim are disliked personally by SethGecko even though they both continue to use Iccup.)
@UED_Sky.SL: I saw your team sasnoobs barely squeaked out a victory over LRM) in the Gambit cup. We'll see if your team that has hundreds of dollars worth of sponsorships will barely beat LRM) again. LRM) has proven time and time again it is arguably the best foreign team.
@Hyeon: Comments like that from an Iccup admin are no surprise.

But yeah Game is such a poor victim on this community. So is JoeKim.

He lost 3-2 to Kashu who took 3rd... So, really no shame in that. Well... Not sure if this is accurate, but I think he was up 2-0 in that series then dropped 3 straight games, not sure.

Jumper, if protoss -> dts, if zerg -> lurkers, if terran -> medics + blind or cloak wraiths. You will win with invisible units of any race!

This is the last tournament from UED Gaming & Xsplit I look forward to the VOD's. Whereas all the other teams make almost all of their cash prize tournaments open to the public, UED makes their tournaments exclusively for their own members.

95% of UED tournaments are inhouse?
By what Irx said, he only means he intends to only make inhouse events whereas every other team makes cash prize events for all teams.

All the other stuff in this thread aside- I will be starting the cast at time scheduled on the TL calendar (see sidebar), and will go on for a maximum of 2 hours. This is because I have an exam tomorrow, but I will make every effort to conclude this tournament on another day, if it doesn't finish in time.
Be nice.

Don't worry, I like your english accent :D

The finals between Napoleon and TechnicS have been postponed. The thread will be udpated once we set a date - of course with a stream. All replays (including spoiler reps) have been added to the OP.
Other updates:
- PaSs, Flaf and Napoleon replaced Jumper, gag and flip (didn't show)
- Terror won vs Ace via Walk Over (Ace logged off)
- Flaf and Gotunk misinterpreted the grid and played each other. Flaf won that game and Gotunk logged off. Until we figured out this misunderstanding, Gotunk was no where to be found. Thus a "wrong" replay was included into the pack.
Special thanks go to Elegant, NinaZerg & Vorosh and Artanis & Pholon.
