We present to you the Altitude Nation Wars
Weeks 1-6
The season will be played in round robin style, Nations will be seperated into 3 pools(3x4). The round robin bracket will be circulated through twice per group.
+ Show Spoiler [Match format] +The matches will be best of 7, that being 5 - 1x1, 1 - 2x2 and 1 - 1x1 ACE match if needed(if score is 3-3 after original 6 games, one of the players who has already played may be entered again for an ace match). All matches will be played simultaneously the same player cannot be used for both 1x1 and 2x2 in the same clan war.
Weeks 7-9
The Playoff brackets will be made from to top 2 teams from each group, this will give us a total of 6 nations in the quarter-finals. These nations will be divided into two groups of 3 and will playoff(AvB BvC AvC).
The semi-final and finals will be single elimination Brackets. The two teams with the highest scores from the quarter finals will face off against the second place qualifier of the opposite division.

So, this part is going to tell you how to get involved with your Nation. Certain Nations have been combined for balancing purposes, so please if you are not on one of the solo Nations, scroll up and find out where your country is listed. If you are not listed, then you should post here with your country's name and we will add it in where fitting. Now that you've identified your team, you can apply for it. This can be done through this thread or privately with the leader of your team(Leaders will be selected within the next week or so and MUST post in the thread for their candidacy to be considered). If a you have been recruited onto your Nation's team, the team leader will have to be the one to confirm this to the organizers and not the player. Leaders have all executive decisions in their own teams on a managerially level.

8) Any player found abusing in any way will be attributed with a permanent ban from the Nation Wars, in addition, the clan war which was abused in will be counted as a loss for the abusing player's team.
9) If a player disconnects from a game due to internet issues and/or Launcher issues, the player may be re-entered or subbed out. If the player is re-entered and drops a second time, the set will be counted as a loss by W.O.
10) IP conflicts between players will be handled on a case-to-case basis.
11) There will be no PP matches unless scheduled a minimum of 24 hours beforehand with Eywa- and LRM)Game.
12) The use of an incorrect map will result in a draw for the set, both players will be banned from their next Nation War.(Rule #8 applies for rigged maps)
13) Team Rosters must not exceed 15 players + 2 organizers.
14) Only team leaders are to communicate with the league commissioner over concerns about the league
15) No Korean IP addresses.
16) Players with former cases hacking and abuse must contact the organizers of the tournament before being admitted to play in this league. Organizers reserve the right to refuse these players.
17) No BM or flaming will be tolerated in Official Altitude Nation Wars threads, failure to abide by this rule will result in action taken against the offending Nation at organizer's discretion.
18) Players must have /dnd active at all times while in Official Altitude Nation Wars games.
19) If you have any questions about the rules, you must contact Eywa- or Game, not knowing the rules or misinterpreting them is not an excuse.

Wow this is amazing news, really glad to see this coming out for BW. If anyone hasn't play Altitude it really is an amazing game. The demo got expanded to forever, so I think it's practically free to play now, but it's only $10 and please support the developers.

Hello guys! I'm really happy about NW league is back, but i think it won't be the best format, cuz i doubt there will be nation with 8 players for each NW. I wanna be the hungarian leader, and try to reach 8 players for each NW, but im not sure it will work everytime. The best option would be if an 1v1 player could play 2v2 too!

Contemplated it, but it's not a good idea. USA can easily field a team, and so can Canada. Both are just wanting to make a megateam. Fact is, absolutely no team will have an allstar lineup of like 5 A- players, everyone will have to incorporate C+/B- level players into their teams. The scene is not what it used to be, and NWs will not be Mondragon vs Draco.

It's good to see people taking to it the first day. However, we do only have less than two weeks to organize all teams. And by that I mean, the leaders that are approved for teams have less than two weeks to jump start their teams. It shouldn't be hard, a couple PMs a day. Furthermore, I encourage all players and leaders to post their want and willingness in the thread as soon as humanly possible, so we know where we stand organizationally. Thank you in advance.

Every other team has to work with C to B- players, Canada will as well. And DragOn, you just say you'd like to be leader in the thread.

we managed to field a team in that i-nw shit when you were computerless and the organization was terrible with no prize pool. im sure we can scrape something together for this. obviously not every player will be a top foreigner but thats fine.

Liechtenstein is between Austria and Switzerland, so how can it belong to a different geographical location than those countries? Also Liechtenstein uses swiss money and swiss police and have no controlled border with switzerland, so puttin these two countries in separate groups makes no sense at all.
Same with Macedonia, it is further east than Albania but belongs to Central EU whereas Albania belongs to East Europe.
Slovenja (Central) and Slovakia (East) should be in either one of those too.

everyone should try altitude. Its a great game. Easy to get into but hard to master. Gamesense, mechanics, tactics, map awareness, aim, finesse, etc. It has everything competitive players might want.

Could you add some kind of rule to the week 7-9 format where if the 3-way tie occurs 2-3 times in a row, the individual win/loss is used to determine who advances rather than playing forever?
Also, I assume that in the rematch after a tie, the lineups will be re-done rather than using the same ones from the first match. If that's correct, maybe you should clarify it in the OP so we don't get drama later on ;p

Actually, when would the tie-break even be played? The initial quarterfinal round robin takes place over weeks 7-9. If there's a tie, are you going to insert 3 more weeks in before the semis or what?

The quarter finals will be over by week 9, no other quarter final matches will be played after this time. However it is unlikely that a group is tied 3 weeks in a row, I'll implement a tiebreaker system(which wont involve extra games)

That's case to case... I could give endless examples where 1 would be ok, but 2 wouldn't. Are you asking this because of your current location? And if so, please explain for clarity.

The rosters will be available as the teams send them in. Also, It's not like Gambit's Cup where I'm looking for teams to sign up, we already have the teams, just need to get leaders, players for them. The two managers can play, for a total of 17 players. This is where you come in as a manager. You need to pick the most highly active, reliable, and skilled 15 to play in your team. Your other question has not been discussed yet, but I'm not sure on my stance on it myself.

Teams will be able to change their rosters during the season, a roster change deadline will be made. Undecided if there will be a limit on roster moves, however it is a guarantee that all roster changes will have to be approved by league officials.

In my opinion Poland has never been a very good Terran country. Players like Spawn and Signal back in the day were very good, but could never reach a peak like other countries. Since then, take vultures away from Tarson and well... anyone who knows his play knows what that means, and then SzajnA. I think it's suiting for Poland to have limited Terrans, and more so none of them.

it has been 17CET since ever, except for one season a couple of seasons ago where it was changed to 19CET after a vote, but they quickly realized that it was a bad move and changed it back the following season.

Team Canada and Nordic, you're going to have to start recruiting some lower level players because all your top dogs are unreliable.
Team Eastern Europe, you're going to have to hire a second manager to better handle recruiting.

Not many being over 500 Canadian accounts active and laddering on iCCup, qualify 1/2 of those as smurf accounts, you still have 250 people to pick from? I am sure that Nb.Skye has been trying to recruit but just as we said, all these variables come into play and there really is no showing from Canadian players to participate in such a league. Even some players on that list that he has already created, I can easily see not showing up to a single clan war.

2. who is the one in charge of 'who vs who' issue during a set??i mean such as team A sent its best 5 1v1 players and team B sent its best 5 1v1 players, but how they pick their opponent?just randomly pick or by some other means?
3.i dont quite understand the mechanism in week 7-9.. can you elaborate more?
4.so every week we will have different map set? and do we have to use map from the same source?

I can care less about the map balance, I never said central plains and 4 games is hardly a statistic. It just brings more diversity when people have seen the maps less. We just did 2 ISLs with bluestorm as the map.

Well, I understand that balance affects things for 1v1 tournaments, but this is a team league. If the map is imba, then send P or Z. Nothing wrong with that. It's not like, oh, you're T, you're screwed. No, if you're T, play on a different map. Sure, it makes choosing who to send out less strategic, but the new maps are still interesting and would provide some freshness.

I think his example was with Nostalgia that people claimed it was balanced but mainly it was about 50/50 for Terran because the top players like NaDa, BoxeR and Midas played alot, obviously, and hence gained more wins.
Stats aren't really that accurate unless same level players play alot of games on them.
Especially fewer games can always be strategical wins (e.g. Alternative, just count the times Stork got 5pooled on there..)
And as stated by some1 else above, then send a different player>_>'
Game simply loves oldskool maps, but he should rather think of the general players that have to play instead of his own likes, that already hurt ISL2 groupstage and later rounds, imo.

Blue Storm TLPD stats are useless and irrelevant anyways as it counts both versions of the map instead of 1.2.

Just a heads up to everyone. read the rules, now read them again. Then look at your roster and makes sure that's the name they are going to be playing under. now double check everyone has the correct AKA. ok we should be good now.

I watched this yesterday, and it was so goooood. I miss my bw, and we definitely need more tournaments like this one. And Sayle your casting was great, keep up the good work man!

I really want to thank Sayle for amazing casting, I started to watch him in the evening around 21-22:00 (EU) time until 03:00 AM, I was sleeping while his stream was on, on TV, I woke up like 3-4 hours later he was still casting, may be my perception of time kinda messed up but I mean, this is amazing, the amount of time he had been casting...
Not for nation wars only, when Sayle's stream is up while he is playing, I always turn it on, I have only 1 favorited stream and that's sayle's...
Amazing job man, looking forward to tonight's cast!!!
