by: Mustaju Hwaseung and MBC were both huge surprises last round. Many had written them off, while some fans still cheered on and maintained hope. MBC-s game against STX seemed entirely different from MBC vs. CJ, as every player seemed a lot more motivated to win than before. „Jaedong-OZ“ showed some mettle by winning a game without JD, and then letting the slumping star pwn Flash’s butt with nonstop aggression like only JD can. Furthermore, since the positions of the trailing teams are separated by 2 victories only, this game will be incredibly tense. What is more, HiyA, Jaehoon and Tyson seem to be on fire, Hyun recently played a great game to end his loss-streak, and Killer seems to be in great form. And OZ has rookies like Shy playing immensly good games recently, so don’t let this battle of „loser teams“ stereotype fool you. This will be entertaining and close. It’s even hard to predict the winner, but my gutfeeling tells me it will be OZ 4-3
He's finally through the tunnel. Jaedong has endured perhaps what would be his career-worst slump. The 5-loss streak (in official matches) was the first of his career, including his 3-loss streak in ZvZ.
However, he bounced back with a win versus Flash on the 15th and now he finally achieved his 100th ZvZ win. He added another win in the final set to lift his team into 5th place. Back to his place as the undisputed ace player, he cracked a giant smile.
Q: Now your team is on a 3-game winning streak. A: It's been a crucial time for the team, and I'm very happy that we came out with the win tonight. We'll try to win the remaining four matches as well so that we can comfortably guarantee ourselves a playoff run.
Q: You struggled recently, falling into a rare losing streak. A: I felt that my in-game decision making faltered. During practice I was doing just fine, but when I played televised matches it almost felt like someone else was playing my game and I just couldn't focus. It was difficult, but anyway now the losing streak is over and I'm back to my winning ways. For now I should put my mind to fully regaining my usual self.
Q: Did you worry that your slump would extend for a long time due to the recent losses in ZvZ? A: Not at all. At first I didn't know, until I first heard about my new losing records from other people. That started to creep into my mind and I worried a bit. Still, I didn't want to and I would never admit [that I was in a slump] myself. If I admitted it, then I would have crumbled right there. Every time something like this happens, I hold on to my confidence as best as I can. I take of it as a process of self-curing through positive mindset.
Q: You seemed to bounce back with the win against Flash. A: Sort of a coincidence, I think. Of course, I regained a lot of confidence from that one win but someone has to lose on the other end (laughs). I know deep inside that Flash will never crumble under any conditions. All other progamers probably think the same. He will start winning again in his dominant form. [T/N: The "slump" sort of exchanged between JD and Flash, that's the background behind this question.]
Q: Any reasons you want to pick out for your recent losses? A: I really don't know (laughs). I'd like to believe that my long-term success so far is largely due to the fact that I never quite looked for reasons to why I lost. Same thing for this case, I should regain my best form if I don't make any excuses for my losses and just recall what I can do to win.
Q: It's been a long while since the last time you won twice in one day. A: Indeed, it feels refreshing (laughs). I felt like I let my team down in rounds 5 and 6 so today's win definitely lightened the burden a bit. Really, I love this feeling (laughs). I will continue to perform well to uphold the title of an "ace."
Q: You finished the ace match with mutalisks. A: The original plan didn't include using mutalisks to such an extent, but I saw gaps and holes in my opponent's defenses so I just went for it. I just can't stop my aggressive instincts when I find such tempting opportunities (laughs).
Q: Next match will be against the 4th ranked team, Woongjin. You have a couple players to take revenge on, including Neo.G_Soulkey and ZerO. A: For our team to move up another step into the 4th place, it's obviously important to take down the 4th ranked team. Moreover, we have firm belief that we can do so. If I can do my part in helping my team win, personal revenge can wait until later.
Q: Any last words? A: I know a lot of people are discussing Sky's GG incident. I was quite disappointed too. At the point where one match and each set is so important for the team, a player shouldn't surrender so easily like that. As the one of the team's senior players, I should let him know about his mistakes but also use this incident as a learning opportunity for the rookie. I hope he doesn't take too much flak for this from the fans, leave that to us (laghs). I mean, everybody makes mistakes now and then. Also, thanks to Coach Oh for his support, and to Killer and Alone for the practice.
MBC are one of the few teams I feel OZ can realistically beat right now. I hope they do so that ill lave them on a 3 game winning streak too. I don't think OZ will make or even deserve to be in the play offs this year but I still support them to the end and hope the futures good for the recruits.
That came out more pessimistic than perhaps I intended it. OZ fighting! come on! go! go! go!
Both playesr nats have completed Zerg sneaks one ling into Jaedong's main Trying to catch a drone Lair completes for Jaedong, problably for Zerg aswell Spire starting for JD Tyrant saves his drone, but not his ling
hmm does zerg have more speedlings? well jd has a ton too, they head towards zerg's bridges - fight! zerg holds his bridges but pulls back jd now approaching zerg's nat, but pulls back - gathering more lings?
jd gets a free ovie at 4 zerg's mutas heading forwards now, with a lot of lings too like 2 groups of lings chase a single ling back towards zerg's corner
Huge screwup by Zerg there, letting one ling kill 4 drones. Apart from letting some lings get into his main, that was a pretty clean victory from Jaedong.

Unfortunately, Jaedong was wasted on a scrub. Now it's up to the rest of Oz to deal with the real MBC lineup of Sea, Tyson, Jaehoon and Hyun. I think Killer, Hiya + Oz tosses can handle them though.
hiya actually has a pretty high win rate against protoss... I was surprised by it until I remembered all his sick timing attacks, especially the one handed to him by stats. must have learned a lot of his skills from forgg.. haha

hiya adding 2 more factories (4) tyson taking a 3rd at 10, 2 vultures arrive to pick off the probe
soo sloppy
tyson adding a forge at his nat, another vulture gets into the main, dropping mines, which goons run into and now raid the probes at the main mineral line

All the oz fans in the house!!!!!!1
Yeah, I'm having stream issues, trying to get it together but I don't think its going to be working Edit: Might just be Justin TV I think someone else posted that they were having issues aswell
range done for both jaehoon still trying to get a few shots off with his units outside anytime's nat his probe sneaks in to confirm anytime hasn't expanded but anytime's goons surge out and pick it off
jaehoon's 4 goons retreating from anytime's 5 goons + 1 zealot jaehoon has 2 more goons rallied and now he has the upper hand 4 goons vs 2 goons and a zealot now
anytime moves back into his main with 2 goons vs 3 of jaehoon's he also places a shield battery (having gone observatory first) jaehoon with more goons on the way
oh anytime moving out with 2 reavers and shuttle to break out of his nat he drops his reavers in FRONT both reavers picked off but anytime now with a huge goon advantage at his own nat
What's so entertaining about DTs in PvP? Either one player dies/loses alot of probes and is forced to attack or the DTs don't do anything. Reaver goon engagements are more exciting.
6 lings out, 1st scouting probe destroyed another scouting probe sent out under the watchful eye of the ovie outside sang's nat 6 lings moving to intercept
probe heads to the nat past 6 lings, sees the finished lair, heads into the main unspectacular ling control the probe sees the morphing spire and still able to glide away finally destroyed
4th hatch at the 3rd
citadel done for sang, archives placed forge now starts to spin
evo at the nat, one sunken forming behind den at the 3rd, 1 sunken forming there 1 cannon placed near the main mineral line - 2 dts out and heading out
Didn't have good harass or a good 2 base timing attack, can't defend the muta harass either? Just let Zerg run happily on 4 bases, slowly lose the game...
sea setting up pretty close to his home... taking his min only but hyo movin aruond backto try and get some scvs!!!!!! i don't think it really worked though, tanks shoot the goons and stuff
hyo running his units into mines outside sea's nat sea with a few forces there defending, hyo doesn't attack the tanks to the left of his army and is taking lots of damage! he rams into sea's nat!
1 probe/1 zealot head to hyun's 3rd the 1 drone there flees another new drone down to the red but 4 lings come the zealot/probe kills 3 of the lings but falls
Such a critical game for both teams...definitely hope JD can pull this off. He's been ridiculously streaky as of late, though, so sending him out now is definitely the right move. Just hoping that MBC doesn't go for the zvz snipe.
YES STREAM IS WORKING Sea with a ~8?9? marines, medics out now Jaedong putting down 2 sunkens at his nat choke MnM group moving out towards the choke Spire is up 2 rax Ebay is up, turrets are on the way Firebat attacking the CC strange
Tyrant gets the Fbat Lings try to get into the nat mineral line Sacs some lings for scv and turret kills THe last turret goes down, Jaedong having reign over the scvs 36 supply to 42 39-42 Jaedong-Sea More mutas No turrets are up ALL MARINES ARE DYING Death glare Mutas catch marines out on the field and are flying back in
Turret in the mineral line goes down, 2nd one as well Turret trying to get thrown up So many scvs dying 43-33 supply Seas scv count is getting lower and lower 3rd rax trying to get up Tyrant trying the nat, no luck and heading back into the main Like 4 scvs mining from the main Jaedong has almost double supply of that as Sea Lings are in the nat
I'll just quote myself to end the day. It seems to me JD's new strategy is to beat only the best, and lose to the rest. (We can disregard the zvz win and assume JvZ is back)

It's the same composition and it hit at sort of the same timing against the same kind of composition, but I dropped in later.
Seemed like there was a lot less emphasis on lings here, and less of them. Though he did use lings to get the m+m force out of position so he could snipe turrets, so it's similar in a sense. And both involved a lack of teching up and economy from JD.

Ah okay. JD fighting ALWAYS (unless he is against Stork)!

Masterful baiting of the stimmed rines with lings to isolate them from turrets in the main. The pressure never stopped. This is the JD I love.

Yep, if JD plays more like this I promise I won't call him overrated guys

It used to be but now it is actually 47% for win so its a fairly balanced TvZ map. Especially with Sea getting the 3 oclok position with non exposed mineral line
Should have sent Hyun for Ace instead. At least there's a chance for a BO win. Sea has lost 3 TvZs now on Icarus before it even went to Hive tech. And he's sick. Did Mumyung seriously think he stood any chance at all against Jaedong? Terrible decision.
Oh well, at least Jaehoon's well on course for 30wins and beyond.
Missed it =/ At least Jaedong won, and PerfectMan and Killer as well. Anytime unfortunately not, even though he was doing so well(7-3 and 4-game winning streak). I guess you can't have everything.
Well at least DES bothered to take photos of MBC this time, since it's against Jaedong's team.
Sea, don't blame yourself for the Ace loss. It's not your fault that Mumyung can sometimes be a moron...
Good job Tyson! I hope this gives you confidence to bounce back from the disappointing week you've had...
Jaehoon, you're truly awesome! But don't take too much medicine...
Play-offs may almost be impossible now but there's still OSL for Sea and Hyun. Jaehoon, have lotsa fun on your Bnet Attack adventure. And everyone at MBC, try hard to qualify for the next MSL, okay...

yeah, remember, Flash said that 3 and 9 are ok (good?) for terran (in TvZ), but 12 and 6 are very bad.

Also, it seems to me he definitively knows how to beat 14CC
I didn't watch the other matches yet, just want to comment i'm happy on a JvZ win vs any opponent. He looked confident in his muta micro and took out a lot of scourge as well (he took a few hits mainly when it didn't matter). nice work dong!
