Pretty decent TvZ, with good moments for both players. Still, could have been closer. Not a must-watch, but something that doesn't need to be skipped either.
Brilliant comeback or miserable failure? Maybe even both, but overall not that good, if you don't like failure. In that case, games of these two players should be right up your alley.
Interesting turn of events, but overall too lopsided to warrant a recommendation. No.

Enormous thanks to Ryo, who did an outstanding job as always. Since there already is a Kal interview, I guess we don't need a STX spotlight. I'm also very tired.
Light is MBC’s second ace player and nice guy. He also happens to be one of the best TvZers of all time, a status he achieved ironically in the months after getting 2-0ed by Kwanro at the Nate MSL on Jan 7th 2010. His loss against Kwanro marked a defining moment in his career.
Before the “Kwanro Incident”, Light’s winrate against zerg was an excellent 63%. But since then, his winrate against zerg within the past year has exploded to a mind boggling 78%.
Light’s performances against Lee Ssang have also improved since then. Before getting Kwanrolled, Light’s winrate against Jaedong was 36.4%. He had also never beaten Flash in their 4 meetings before. However, within the past year he has recorded a 54.6% winrate against Jaedong, beaten Flash 2 out of the 5 times they’ve met since and reached the Ro4 of a starleague for the first time. The “Kwanro Incident” can be considered a turning point in Light’s career. Now if he can just fix that TvP of his…
Highlights
Results wise, the highlight of Light’s career was undoubtedly reaching the Ro4 of Bigfile MSL. After losing 2-3 to Jaedong in that series, Light was devastated and left pondering what could have been had he built a bunker in game 5.
However the quarterfinal match between Light and EffOrt was a better series, especially the game on Polaris Rhapsody. In fact Light himself has said that that was one of the best games he has ever played:
Current Form
Light’s form has been rather indifferent this season. Beating the likes of Flash and Jaedong and then losing to less than average protosses. To Light’s credit though, he has been extremely unlucky with the opponents he draws. Of the 30 games he’s played this year, he has met Flash & Stork trice each, Jaedong, Zero & BaBy twice, and Kal & Fantasy once.
Light is also a notoriously slow starter in games. It takes awhile for him to warm up, but the longer the game goes, the better his play becomes. This makes him somewhat prone to timing attacks but is also a reason why he does well in Winners League. If Light wins his opening game in WL, the chances of him 3-killing or all-killing go up exponentially.
Unfortunately, while Coach Ha started him in most matches during last season’s WL, MuMyung’s strategy has been to rotate starters each match, a reasonable strategy for the team but not so beneficial to Light’s WL record.
Light’s best game this season was his win against BaBy, enroute to his all-kill of Wemade. Interestingly, he used a wraith build in every game in that all-kill:
Did you know?
Light loves to watch movies and Korean dramas.Sea revealed that Light cried while watching the drama Dae Mul.
He is also very supportive of his teammates. He helped Jaehoon a lot during the latter’s disastrous 2009-2010 season.
Light is from Busan. After he turned pro, Light moved from Busan to Seoul and transfered schools as well. A modest, shy and quiet person, Light got up every day at 6am to attend high school even after practicing into the early hours of the morning. Because he struggled to manage both progaming and regular school, after the first year of high school he withdrew from his studies. He stated that it was not an easy decision but he was able to do so with the help of his parents. Light said that he will continue his studies after he retires from progaming.
He was once bothered by the nickname “invisible Terran”. The nickname came about after Shark won a game in the 2007-08 season and high-fived everyone in the MBC team except Light. However, in a 2009 interview, Light said that it no longer bothers him.
Light's original nickname, “Super Terran” was coined after he won the 2006 OGN Super Rookie Tournament and played really well during his rookie season in 2006-2007, helping MBC to win the proleague.
Light has an interesting sense of humour. On his previous cyworld page, he used to post funny photoshopped pictures of his teammates. Some years ago, he also did ceremonies after winning important matches:
After publicly stating that he would not do a ceremony for this season’s PD Pop MSL Group Selection, he surprised everyone with the funny “Terran scan” ceremony:
Light is quite popular among BW fangirls. Light fangirls waiting with gifts for him after his MSL match:
The most famous Light fangirl is “Light Girl”. Light Girl emerged sometime in 2010. Initially netizens speculated that she was Light’s girlfriend because she regularly attended MBC’s proleague and Light’s starleague matches. But it turned out that she was just a fangirl.
After one of his MSL matches last season, Light was reported to have deliberately thrown a signed shirt to Light Girl instead of other fans in the audience. An allegation he later denied in his post-match interview.
As different as they are, Light and Sea were born just 1 day apart.
Oh wow, nice article on my 2nd favorite terran player who seems to have quite a few less fans than he should. This could go either way. Neither MBC nor STX is to be underestimated, even when they look awful. Some players do go godmode after a break after all.
Aww, no STX Shelter this time. I'll just wait for the next one to come out then!
Very nice article on Light written up. I definitely learned a few things I didn't know about him, such as him being from Pusan and Sea being born just one day after him!! O___O That's crazy, those two are like night and day, lmfao. Light has the perfect poker face, and Sea the worst expression a poker player could ask for: an open book with raging emotions, looolz. Light does have a very interesting sense of humor though, and it's said that the most quiet ones are most emotional at heart... ;D
May the best team win tonight! (Too bad this match is overshadowed by Khan vs. Stars ><)

Wow Light is even more baller than Bisu's "I like you too" to Bisu's little fan girl. GO BALLER LIGHT!!LOLOL

light moving out with his tanks and a few mnm, hero's hydra are kinda crappy against them hero focus-fires on the vessel, gets it down to the red before backing off
hero has 1 ground carapace for what good that'll do
hero's hatch at 1.5 done, a nydus being formed outside the nat one vessel lost to the spore at 8 lurkerling attack on light's mobile force, swarm is late
another of light's mnm group finds hero's 4th, hero is late in burrowing his lurkers, only one actually lives to burrow scan, destroyed, hero loses his 4th
another 2 lurkers gifted to light's 5 rines holding the choke at 10.5
a drop of a few mnm at hero's nat, some dead carcasses? drop now in hero's main, and another attack on his 3rd and his fresh 4th at 2 hero being attacked everywhere
a plague on the dropped forces in his main but it's way too late
Kal's speed shuttle heading forwards again, takes a few hits from a goliath - actually down to red, just 1 hit left
Kal clears a few mines near 12 and backs off, Light scans Kal's rally point and mines up the area outside Kal's bridges, which Kal quickly clears out Kal takes his 4th at 8
vultures find the warping nex at 8, 2 tanks dropped to support shuttle/reaver on the way, with goons on the low ground too kal doing well to clean up the attack but vultures being dropped at kal's 3rd, they stop mining for now another vulture dropped at kal's nat
dropship heading to kal's 3rd again reaver is there, knocks out one of the dropped vultures right away, light picks up the other one and just lets his dropship chill there
Light now moving to siege up the NE plateau, kal's zealots still don't have speed but it's coming soon since he's got so many zealots kal's army spread out vs light's army on the plateau reaver dropped among the tanks, 4 tanks frozen
light without adequate vulture support, his army overwhelmed big mistake!
I don't know, Kal isn't impressing either, a hass of pure vulture facing off against a few goons near kal's 4th mines laid, and like 7/8 vultures explode to a mine, whoops
light's 5th CC idle N of his 3rd
arbiter emp'd as it approaches light's very small army midmap
light's army too small, and kal with 2 pretty strong storms but kal still losing most of his army - is he behind on upgrades or something? I can't see them on this stream
Light finally floating his 5th CC to 12 wow he has a 6th CC near 4.5 but it has to lift due to a unit there? a single zealot or something attacking light's 4th?
goon/arb attacking light's 5th and he has to lift/retreat, goons focusing on the stationary CC, it doesn't try to get away
light concedes light's army just couldn't measure up to kal's all game since I tuned in, what happened? kal with a not-that-smug smile as he does the high-five line
2 dropships head towards hyun's main, see the scourge and lings there waiting and back off
hyun also has guardian/ling/scourge waiting at his 3rd
5 lurkers move out of hyun's nat with swarm, knock out a few lings
bogus lands his 3rd CC at 10, starting a 4th at 11
bogus 2 dropships into hyun's 3rd - hyun slow to respond, losing a bunch of forces dropships replenish, but are scourged after the 2nd drop all guardians destroyed, just a sunken or two left to defend, destroyed!
but ultraling appears from the nydus for the save amazing!
2 ultras, one irradiated reaches bogus's 4th to attack - don't do much against the mnm stationed there to defend
more ultraling heading out
hyun starts mining from his new 5th at 6 his ultras stumble upon bogus adding a 5th at inner 9, stopped
2 vessels arrive to float over hyun's 3rd
more ultraling wasted /thrown uselessly at units outside hyun's 4th but 2 ultras somehow among bogus's rax not doing that much damage though
a few lone ultras wandering among bogus's bases one irradiated one hanging out at bogus's 3rd - if hyun controlled the ultra it could erase the scvs! but the ultra heads into a corner
drones burrow at hyun's 3rd - was bogus trying to eraser with his vessel there?
another group of mnm heads to hang out outside hyun's 4th hyun again throws dribbling amounts of ultra ling in roughly single file at the mnm but now some attack from the back and finish off the medium-sized mnm group
This map doesn't really lend itself to mech switches, which is a shame, because Hyun would be very dead right now if Bogus had been on... say... Grand Line.
Lol Light thwacks Hyun on the arm with a bottle of Pocari Sweat and then gives him a shoulder massage. Every time a MBC player wins, they always have to discuss something fiercely with their other teammates.
jaehoon still has 2 cannons at his nat, adding 2 more, calm focusing on the forge 1 reaver out fresh sair wanders out of the stargate and dies to the hydra there
slow shuttle heading to calm's nat - wtf - he drops right among 6 hydra, even though his sairs was there to spot them like 8 seconds ago and a single hydra picks off the shuttle on the way out...
brilliant! calm burrows 7 hydra even though jaehoon's army walks around them when the shuttle comes they pop up and sacrifice themselves to destroy the reaver-loaded shuttle
jaehoon's pure goon army now mincemeat to pure hydra

Yeah, I had to read the BR to make sure my eyes weren't lying to me.
Hm, spot with hydra, vs spot with no hydra. Lets fly towards spot with hydra? *facepalm
calm uses one group of hydra to lure jaehoon's goon/zealot army out of his nat, while he has like 2/3 more groups hiding in the north now the 2/3 groups move out to engage
Calm continuing to mass mutas - switching damaged ones for freshed ones Calm's mutas are trapped between rines and turrets at sea's nat but destroys all the rines on the right and breaks through

his 3rd base placement was brilliant against a player like Sea but what was he expecting to achieve with the followup he used?
calm now taking a 4th at 2.5
2 ultra/swarm slowly whittling down plagued mnm at 8.5 but more coming to save the day wtf - sea's mnmnf not attacking the morphing hatch at 2.5? does he want to wait until it finishes to attack? I'm sure he spotted it

Yeah, why didn't he tech switch to lurkers? I saw absolutely no lurkers in that game. Still, the clam must always belong to the sea.
Oh no you didn't!
Well I guess Calm's unusual decisions must by nature gyrate between brilliant and insane.
Maybe it's the "I'll show 'em" school of thought where you play towards something that is considered your weakness and lose because of the fact that you are hugely overestimating yourself.

Also STX and Calm.
To be honest, that was just not one of Calm's better ideas. When a player is fond of inventing new strategies, there's going to be a lot of stupid days, especially if there's only a short window of time in which you can practice(like the time between PL games). I've learned that all too well with Fantasy.

To be frank, Calm's mutalisk control was surprisingly competent this game (perhaps Sea's early subpar mnm control helped make it appear this way, but whatever). But the decisions he made...
And when you consider how much comsat energy Sea burned to try to find Calm's 3rd...what would lurkers have done!

Oh don't remind me.
And you've got a point. With 2 PL games a week on most weeks now the schedule is downright grueling.
Really disappointed I missed this and disappointed that Jaehoon lost but it's made better by an MBC win! Well done to Light, Hyun, and Sea! MBC Fighting!
