[SPL] MBCGame HERO vs STX SouL

This season has brought a lot of excitement to the BW-scene. Teams fall, lawsuits loom threateningly over the horizon, and Protosses rise to finally make the Golden Age of Terran history. But forget the epic clashes of Woongjin and SKT or KT and SKT. This round will culminate in the epic clash of MBCGame Hero and STX SouL. Who will win? Opinions differ. Some of them are here:

No team has had greater odds to overcome this season than MBCGame Hero. During the off-season, MBC team lost their entire coaching staff and half of their first-team and yet gained no new players with the exception of estro’s last rookie draft pick. But from the ashes of despair, the phoenix has risen once again. After a credible showing against SKT and Khan, the team bounced back from a shock thrashing by ACE to comfortably defeat STX-beaters, Hwaseung Oz. Indeed, no side has greater team spirit than MBC.

Worth noting is the emergence of MBC’s protoss line, led by the enigmatic Jaehoon. After the departure of Coach Ha, sweatytoss is sweaty no longer. Although he continues to entertain, there is no doubt that Jaehoon’s play has improved vastly this season, due in no small part to the coaching and motivational synergy of buddies MuMyung and Pusan. And after knocking Jaedong out of the Incruit OSL prelims in 2008, Tyson showed great potential but was never given enough matches to develop consistent play until now. Since crushing Best in the recent Bacchus OSL offline prelims, I expect good things from him this season.

A lot will also depend on line-up selection. STX should benefit from their large roster, if it wasn’t filled with a number of overpaid chokers. I have no doubt that Coach Cho will once again send out Calm and Clam will invariably fail. STX’s supposed ace, Kal, also has a long history of choking miserably in high pressure situations. In comparison, there is no player you’d love more as your Proleague ace than Yum Bo Sung.

Team spirit can overcome all. MBC fighting! Go go go!!

And now for a completely unbiased prediction:

STX is going to stomp MBC into the ground. As everyone knows, the Bo7 system favors deep teams. Unfortunately for MBCGame Hero, their team lineup is about as deep as the humor of Dane Cook. Against the stacked team lineup of STX, namely Shuttle, Kal, Calm, Hero, Classic, Hyvaa, FrOzen and Bogus, MBC stands no chance.

In fact, Sea and Light must currently be wishing Killer was on their team, just for the team to perform better. The only reason they have gathered two wins by now is that they had the luxury of playing Jangbi instead of Stork and a Hwaseung Oz that didn't even try. It takes a player with the caliber of Lomo for Jaehoon to win a game! I'd discuss the rest of MBC's lineup as well, but there are only so many ways that you can say "horribad" and I've used all of them up on Jaehoon. The two hopes of MBC won't change the big picture, especially since Light has yet to perform decently in a game from start to finish.
Not even their coach can save MBC, since they have fled out of sheer terror of facing a team like STX with one coach for each race!
STX, on the other hand, strikes terror in the hearts of men. This is the season of Protoss and Zerg, and STX have the best of these races (Calm and Kal, to name the most prominent) and the best to snipe these races, namely Modesty and Shuttle.
If STX had a weak point last season, it was their Terran line. Now, Bogus, FrOzen and Classic will step up to crush such a mistaken belief. There is no compromise, only victory.
So that makes what, 1,5 somewhat decent players against an entire team of them? STX 4-1 EZ-PZ and the 1 win isn't even likely, it's just that I'm feeling generous. MBC should save face and concede on the spot.
