Keep on saying macro minimap macro minimap in your head from the start of the round. Or anything you have to do a lot for that matter.

In a game there's a lot of shit to do and sometimes you just don't think of checking the minimap (if you're like D I mean). So what I did was practiced using replays. I watched a bunch of replays, making sure to keep an eye on the minimap. Eventually after like 5 replays I started barely ever missing drops/attacks happen which I used to do all the time. Like suddenly I would realize one player's main was completely decimated. But eventually I start to see these things happen. Then when I go to actually play games, I was able to actually look at the minimap while I played.

I'll see what the sticky note, sound off, and replay watching does for me. Thanks everyone for your help. I'll let you know what worked best for me.

i just realized that the only time i really look at the minimap is when i am 1a2a3a-ing the enemy, when i scan (when i play terran), or when i scout. I think that you should start getting into the habit of looking at the minimap more and more just by getting used to that habit. you can record little notes or something, like record u saying "look at minimap more" and have that repeat over and over until you get used to looking at the minimap.

I should just get a bot and have it message me every 5-7 seconds or get something that will beep every so often to remind me to look at the minimap!

i actually say no to the spacebar because as you get faster, you may have lots of pings, and you may end up coming to the wrong location :/
