Since there seems to be no one willing to translate any Samsung Khan interviews, I figure I'd give it a shot at doing them myself. I originally didn't want to, since I'd be translating from Chinese. And going from Korean->Chinese->English is probably not good for accuracy. However, since there's no other translator cares for this team, I guess something's better than nothing for us Khan fans.
Anyway, here are January's thoughts at the end of each day of the Khan's match against STX. Anyone who finds any inaccuracies with the translation can feel free to point them out. And I'll be sure to edit them.
Day 1 interview + Show Spoiler +Day 1(Khan won set 1 4-3)
So you won? It's a bit soon, so I haven't really enjoyed it. We also still have another match tomorrow. And that's the only thing on my mind right now.
Stork's loss must've really been a huge let-down. After winning game 1, I really thought we'd take the match 4-1 as expected. But losing the 3rd match really dampened the atmosphere. But I still felt we wouldn't lose, because we prepared very well for sets 5 and 6. I was quite depressed after losing set 5, but Miracle really came through in set 6. And we were able to come back.
Great won two games today. His concentration's excellent, and doesn't get nerves even on the big stage. For that reason I trust him. In the ace match, there was a time period when he was vulnerable. But his prepared building placement was very good. So I was confident in him.
What about tomorrow's games? I feel STX is the best team in the playoffs. Tomorrow will just be as difficult as today. I don't expect an easy win.
Day 2 Interview + Show Spoiler + How do you feel? I believe we're the worst team in the playoffs. Therefore we spent a lot of time on preparation and gaining information. We've also been quite lucky, and our players performed. That's how we've managed to overachieve.
At the beginning of the season, we were playing very well. So I mainly had us use normal, safe builds. But towards the end we used much more aggressive builds. And our players came up with a lot of good ideas.
Day 2's horrible loss must've been surprising. To be honest, I was very pissed when watching games 1, 2, and 3. If they simply played standard, reacted normally, they could've easily won. But they made horrible decisions. The second match was going so well, but then FBH decided to play like crap. We especially prepared for the second match, but the build got scouted and failed, which made me go crazy. In the 3rd match, Yoon did not follow the pre-match preparations we set out for him, and he failed. It really pissed me off
But you seemed so calm during the match. I might affect the players if I got angry during the match. So I try to remain calm until the match ended. But there will be disciplinary actions back in the Khan house!
Who will get scolded? Everyone. But even those who lost, I thank for their ideas and preparations. I feel STX is the best team in the playoffs. To win, everyone must be in their top shape. And even the newbies who don't appear on stage must contribute.
TL note: Seems like January backed off and decided not to go apeshit on her players on record. So much cliche following a heartfelt statement.
Did you already have your Ace player in mind? Yes. But because Jangbi lost to by.hero, I had to think a bit more on it. But Jangbi's prepared build order was very good, fully taking into consideration his opponent Calm's style. But he was shaky during the match. So I wasn't fully confident. But in the end, I trust my decisions.
What's the reason for Jangbi and not Stork? I was very certain STX will send Calm. Even though we have many choices for Ace, I feel he's their only Ace against us. In PvZ, the protoss has to prepare quite heavily. For this reason, I chose Jangbi. Plus Coliseum is a map Jangbi prepared for.
TL note: Not sure what this means, since Jangbi and Stork both had PvZs that day. I guess Stork slacks off or can't prepare for two games or something!?
Even though he lost yesterday, Stork came back and won today. Even in yesterday's match, he would've won if the Nexus didn't get taken down. Of course, this is his fault. But he is in shape. And he's very important for us. Protoss players tend to be very picky about maps. But Stork isn't. This is very helpful for me as a coach.
You'll be facing CJ next. CJ has many great players, and some of the best zerg players. At the same time, we have some of the best protoss players. This puts a lot of pressure on us. Practice and preparation will be very difficult.
Which CJ players really stand out? Effort, Kwanro, and Movie are all very good. Of course, so are their old guys(referring to Savior, Iris, and Much). For that reason, they're very powerful. And we must be extra prepared for the matches.
The maps seem to be zerg-favored The maps last PL season were all zerg-favored. This is our biggest obstacle, because protoss is our best race. This is what I knew even when facing STX, because we're fighting an uphill battle relying on protosses.
How will you prepare? When the map order comes out, we'll determine which player plays which map, and then our strategies on them.

Thanks
man i wonder what kind of treacherous she is going to do on those guys... She predicted calm coming out to well STX shoulda sent out July for an eazy win
|
huh, thats quite suprising. i always assumed she had a motherly love type nurturing vibe thing going on. but she seems quite harsh.
|
Thanks for translating this i greatly appreciate it!
Seems like January is pissed off with her players for sure. Gonna be some pressure on FBH to perform well in the coming matches.

"no one willing to translate any Samsung Khan interviews"? I translated them all like right after the playoff games ended...just didn't post them here cuz I thought Kona or Smix will take care of it (they usually do...) First day Second day
Have fun comparing how different translations work. Thanks.
|
i like the apeshit talk in day 2. good thing Khan wins, or she might really have to give a beating with baseball bat.
|
The next time kona translates a KHAN winning interview will be the first, if they had loser interviews he might do those when they lost .

Perhaps a separate thread for each interview? I even looked into your thread and didn't notice it, due to the way it was worded.
Regardless, more Khan stuff is never a bad thing. Especially since we just beat the team that was getting way too hyped up around here. In the end, it's still the same dominant teams vying for proleague dominance(OGN's little quirky run last season notwithstanding).

I would have translated if Khan didn't steal the win. STX should have won the first day, if only calm microed his mutas against great's scourges. Calm just gave the game away... and Khan on day 2 was totally awful, the only game they won besides the super ace match was one where modesty threw away a 99% sure victory.
stx would have had a chance, khan is going to get raped next match.

rofl rofl rofl "FBH decided to play like crap".
She's one tough Mum alright.

or even by.hero
tbh I think Calm is pretty much just as good vs P as they are though. I think it was just a problem of poor scouting/overconfidence

there were a lot of "if onlys" from the 1st night. If only by.hero attacked great 10 seconds earlier in set 1. If only Kal spawned at a different location in set 2. If only shuttle micro'd his goons better in set 6, if only calm micro'd a little better in set 7....
:\

I'm confused a little bit. In the past i saw January absolutely loving FBH giggling like a little girl when he did ceremonies and just overall showing a lot of sympathy, but recently i see despise or strong indifference when they show her face while FBH plays, loses and even wins. Now she says "FBH decided to play like crap". Lol i wonder if fbh getting girlfriend (which made news) had anything at all to do with this.

Thanks a lot for the interviews, been waiting for this for ages. I really hope Khan stomps CJ and does their job well, they didnt even consider Skyhigh as a threat lol, which shouldnt really be a problem considering their big 3s best mu is vT. I really hope Khan faces Oz in the semis for an epic rematch.

There are always a lot of if onlys in games, especially in mirror matches.
But calm was actually way ahead, there was no reason he should have lost that match, just like Modesty shouldn't have lost to stork.

I'm fairly certain that in the original Korean, she was more diplomatic than what the translation comes across as haha...
|
Ahahah January is angry at FBH. What with him playing like an utter idiot in his game versus Flash a few games ago (But Flash did play well, I'm not taking that away from him).
The KHAN vs CJ match should be interesting, though, on paper, it looks like CJ has the edge.
|
Thanks for this, we Khan fans need to stick together.
January is a damn fine women as well as a damn fine coach.
|
|
She is one of the reasons why i follow Khan (well I have a lot of reasons) but she is a very good coach... for me probably the second best (skt1 ex mbc its the best). Khan FIGHTING!!
Thx for the translation.
|
Damn, she sounds so tough... Poor young boys being totally dominated by her
|
Wow... she's pretty honest in the interviews. I've never heard of coaches being "pissed off".
Thanks for the translation!
|
Fuck yah January, you should have slept with Janbi sooner.

heh.. ya - were soem strange decisions they made.. I mean, Stork won a huge, long-game, back-n-forth against a Zerg on day 2 and jangbi lost a pretty simple game on medusa, I think it was but they chose to send Jangbi back out against Calm in the ace match on Colloseum.. which turned out good for Samsung, since jangbi was successful.
but ya - funny she should say "Protoss players are normally picky about the maps they play on".. keke ^ ^ Map does factor in to strategy and over all game play.. especially v zergs.. Like I think Z has some good terrain advantages over P on maps like Andromeda and even Medusa, w/ the temples ezily destroyed by like 4 lurks. P can't do that =b
gL yo
p.s. She thinks STX is the best team in the playoffs?? Has she heard of SKT-T1?

haha so rarely korean girls dominate their guys.
No one likes a girl as their boss, by the rules and no slacking, strict etc.
yeah protoss is picky about maps cus' of the lack of mobility and adaptation but everyone knows stork is 10/10 map usage in the scene. On easy maps he ain't good as Bisu but most of the maps now and future are gonna be hard for toss, so Stork wouldn't lose his advantage.
Its the main reason why Bisu had not won OSL as well.
|
Well Protoss can do it with reavers and Terrans with siege tank. But I guess what you're saying is that Zerg can do it with a bit less risk than that. But really, every race can do it.
And not sure what Korean girls you've dated Baddie, but the ones I dated were hella aggressive lol. They had no problem trying to punch, kick, slap, or bite when they were mad about some shit lol.
|
haha yo, only dated korean from asia and she still keeps the asian submissive culture. Probably those residing in US are used to caucasian culture.
"We especially prepared for the second match, but the build got scouted and failed, which made me go crazy."

lol, typical lady boss, like my boss. If its a guy boss like other teams, will praise and congratulate greatly in every word.

Yeah, but when are you investing in several archons early-mid game(which is typically the time taking down the temples is very worthwhile)? Usually you're more in need of high templars.

If I'm doing the 4 gate 2 archon push, and I think the front's too strong/sunk'd up I'll sometimes hit their temples instead.
