Yesterday a small OGN show called "스타뒷담화" had a special of Stork's OSL performance. It consisted of the OSL curse, Yellow 2.0, what went in Stork's mind and iloveoov. It said ALOT of things about games 1-5 and in general. I tried to get the VOD but failed, so I decided to translate the important parts.
So! You're officially out of Yellow's Line, how does it make you feel It was so awkward actually. I didn't know what to do when I won.
You broke Kim Carrier's curse, which has been active since Kim Carrier was commentating OSL (following victims include Jaedong, Boxer, Anytime, Flash, Xellos, Yellow, and the Maestro), thats such a big accomplishment Yes, I honestly thought I would drop at the RO8. It was so refreshing. I honestly thought I would never make it back to the finals. note: Kim Carrier curse is the 2nd strongest curse known in Korea, where whenever the commentator Kim Tae Kyung chooses the next victor for the OSL, they fail miserably.
Flash, Anytime and iloveoov made records that cannot be broken, however you made another record. You finally got an OSL title after 9 OSL qualifications. How does it make you feel? I heard I broke GGplay's record of 5 OSL qualifications before the title, so I guess Im a little happy. I don't think this record will ever be broken :D
What made you so much stronger in this league than the previous leagues? The losses from Jaedong and Flash helped so much, however the biggest inspiration came from last OSL with July. When I saw July play, I was so jealous. How can someone make his opponents tremble in fear like that? How can someone who isn't at his prime like he used to be so good at mindgames? I had to learn because Flash and Jaedong taught me mindgames is what wins leagues, not how perfect your plays are.
So, were you crying or was it because the champagne got in your eyes? I actually started crying since the last storm happened. I couldn't believe it myself. When I finally won, as I proceeded to get out of my booth to hug my coach and parents TT and Jangbi shot champagne into my eyes. It hurt so much
Yeah your final performance was very exciting, one of the most exciting one I've seen in years Honestly, at game 2, I thought to myself "Damn I can't win a 3:0, thats so lame." I might sound cocky at that statement, but when I saw the walls of Anytime holding up his trophy against Boxer, I really wanted something epic like the Boxer/Anytime finals. Also the Boxer/Anytime finals was what really motivated me to become a better Progamer.
You didn't go carriers... Did you do that on purpose? I actually wanted to use carriers so badly. I really wanted to end game 3 and 5 with carriers but Fantasy denied me both games. At game 3, I didn't expect vulture/dropships, and on game 5, Fantasy kept destroying my probes with his vultures so I had to resort to arbiters.
Your reavers... Well they were terrible compared to BeSt's game I heard from other progamers, intotherainbow practiced against fantasy almost everyday using reavers only. I don't think my reavers were bad, just that Fantasy was so good blocking it.
Haha yeah, it seems like BeSt practiced using un-ending units build and Bisu used darktemplars only to help Fantasy prepare Yeah I could tell because his defenses were amazing. But There was one player Fantasy didn't practice with. If fantasy practiced with this player, Fantasy would've won the OSL
Come to think of it... Game 1 build was what much used Yes, Much kept teaching me all these builds that worked so well. And I told him NOT to practice with Fantasy
Haha makes sense. Hehe thank you Much for your builds!
At the OSL opening ceremony, you said you didn't want to win this OSL, rather you wanted to show your fans a great game Yeah, I really didn't think about winning. Which makes me think of what iloveoov once said
"When I was on my dominant streak, I have never thought myself as the best player, nor did I think I would win any leagues. Maybe thats because I won!
Seems like iloveoov was your inspiration, rival and goal at the same time Yeah ever since the frictions between our teams and when Samsung was doing bad, our whole team's goal was "to be better than T1"
At game 4, what was going through your mind So many things, but mostly stuff like "Maybe I am the next Yellow...", "Kim Carrier's curse is working...", "How am I going to face my parents! I'm such a failure!"
Oh wow, but at game 5 you showed such an amazing play Yeah, but there was a reason for this. For the first time in my finals, my coach and teammates actually came to me at the end of game 4, and told me alot of stuff. They helped me so much!
I remember the first time you came onto our show, you told us you ate 8 servings of steak by yourself Yes I did.
It must've been such a great day for Samsung It was. Although I do feel bad for Jangbi. His game was on the same day as my finals, but everyone was taking care of me more. When our assistant coach was sent with Jangbi, Jangbi said "WHY WONT YOU GUYS TAKE CARE OF ME "
Haha Jangbi is so silly, his league is at RO8 and yours was the final! Hehe its okay he won anyways.
So, here comes the real big question, the OSL curse Yes it seems like I have one more obstacle to cross before celebrating
The OSL curse has a larger affect on people when they win their title "dramatically" Yes I know ;;
There was one player who won the title just as dramatically as you, who just started showing progressing performance after the largest OSL curse slump Yes, you mean Savior?
Poor savior, we really thought he might retire Yes it was a big slump. But I am confident I can break through the curse because I won so many silvers.
Haha I really hope so By the way, how can I break the OSL curse
Well, you have to get ATLEAST RO8. WOuld be better if you hit semifinals, but thats pushing it Oh. Well I think I can do that easily.
Well anything else you want to say before leaving? I will win 2 titles in a row and show everyone what a dominant protoss can do
------------------------------------------------------------------ UPDATE edit: I can't believe I forgot to put this segment on this interview, this was the most important one imo
So during game 5 what would've happen if Fantasy would've built the refinery before you could gas steal? That couldn't of happen
Oh? Explain please hehe In Chup Pyong Ryung, terran players watch probe movements very carefully. I set the probe movement so Fantasy sees my probe but at the same time makes him think I did a proxy gate. That is why Fantasy built the rax first because he was scared I went proxy gate, therefore he would have no minerals to build the refinery.
I see, thats why you did a gas steal so easily? Correct, it would be economically impossible for him to build a rax and gas at that moment.
Your thoughts after the tank kill? I was exhilarated. Because of the gas steal I knew taking his tank out would be a great blow at Fantasy's mind.
During that game your templars came out really late This was probably not recorded on the screen, but Fantasy sniped almost every templar I made.
Ahh that makes alot of sense because we were suprised to see the templars inside the shuttle Yes I had to hide them in there or fantasy would've continued to kill them
Did you really not know about the 9 oclock expansion? No! I was so shocked to learn about it. I still get chills when I think of the possibility of what would've happened if I lost that last battle.
Your final game really showed everything what a Protoss v Terran can offer (except carriers). It reminded us of iloveoov's hidden expo sense, boxer's vulture play, Reach's templar and Anytime's movement. Thank you for your time Stork ------------------------------
EXTRA INFO REGARDING iloveoov's MECH BUILD This is the conversation between boxer and iloveoov, before fantasy did this build.
Translations, thanks for fix by fw and for the video
oov: Hyung I made this new build BoXer: It must be shitty oov: No seriously! This is the real deal BoXer: Oh? oov: This has a 100% winchance against zerg BoXer: On troy? oov: No, on all maps BoXer: Okay tell me oov: I can't BoXer: Some apprentice you are haha oov: Top secret, Im not aloud to talk about it BoXer: Ooo oov: (to kingdom) did you ever seen me lose (with that build)? kingdom: (to boxer) hahahaha.. he never lost to me. kingdom: against MY ZERG lol. oov: It is the equivalent to Bisu's DT/Corsair build. Its better than 14cc BoXer: Hmm, when can I see it oov: Soon. BoXer: I will wait on it
After fantasy/ggplay game oov: Well? BoXer: Its good.

I really love hearing all of the different practice partners and strategies going on behind the scenes; I wonder if there is some reasoning to how players pair up for practice among different teams? Is it just based on friendship, or is there some method to the madness?
Stork: "Dude I just got to the finals. Can I uh...borrow one of your builds? I promise I'll pay you back later. Oh, and don't play with that fantasy guy, he smells."
Much: "You got it dinotoss."
I also love stork's comments on mind games over perfect plays. Staying assertive and unpredictable is the way to go!

Weird relationship between CJ and Samsung. Much and Stork like each other. FBH and Iris like each other.

I think it was just the fact so many protoss players wanted a protoss to win the OSL. And Much, well, everyone loves much.

Lol it's so great to hear Stork actually confess his thoughts after game 4, but it's even better to see him overcome himself. Truly a final to remember.

Much also helped Stork with strategies against Best. The guy has a great mind. It's just that his mechanics isn't good enough to carry out these strategies against top level players. Maybe he just wants to use Stork to carry out his whacky builds.

wow, real reason why stork lost game 3
seems like my translating is pretty terrible but let me rephrase this
Stork did not lose games 3 and 4 on purpose. He lost them because he simply got outplayed

Dude, GranpaToss is like 200 years old and his arthritis it's starting to take it's toll. He must pass on his knowledge before his time is over(Much is going to be such an amazing protoss coach for CJ...).
Btw, by recent commentaries by some players, The Maestro says that T1 Terrans suck at mechanic play(at least compared to CJ ones), all the help of the ever famous T1 Protoss lineup(Bisu & BeSt, with Rainbow as a sidedish) was no match against the strategic mind of GrandpaToss, the whole team is landcrashing in PL....
I like T1, but KTF fans and any fan who dislikes T1 must be enjoying this

Since I have no idea how to work Movie editing programs, I rather have the vod, translate what stork said and just send it to someone to edit it.
It would be great though, spread it to the community
I am waiting for the Yoda / Luke impressions of Much and Stork. No seriously, this makes me love Much even more, as a modest and strong performer who is not shy about helping others. But of course it was Stork himself to put it into practice.

nice update ! best part of the interview. Stork is stork, he's a beast but still he makes cute mistake like goon range and now letting opponent make hidden expo
Thanks MrHoon, this adds even more meaning to that series.

At game 4, what was going through your mind So many things, but mostly stuff like "Maybe I am the next Yellow...", "Kim Carrier's curse is working...", "How am I going to face my parents! I'm such a failure!"
Still worries me how neurotic he is; even when he's winning he psychs himself out, and when he loses his momentum, he looks like he'll crash and burn. =/
Seems like he only got himself back together when he was able to take complete control of the early game in game 5.

interesting that he thought he'd lose to bisu, especially considering how cocky/confident stork sounds most of the time
Wow, thanks MrHoon really good read. I like him a little now, even after his dismantling for SKT, the interview was entertaining and of course the Boxer/Oov convo, I'd love that to be real

Keep in mind that he is 20 years old. I think people generally forget that these "professionals" making six-figure salaries are very young. Nerves come into play even for 30 year olds in professional American sports(won't comment on soccer cause I hate the sport).
Yeah Much! I thought game 1 resembled that game when Much utterly destroyed FBH with his DT/Shuttle micro (this was the game right before the Pylon Heart game I think). I also enjoyed the oov/Boxer convo.
