1. Kangwon Land (Casino Corporation owned by government) is considering to have new progame team.
Kim Jung Bo, a boss of future business promotion team of Kangwon Land said they have interest in making new progame team, at the press time in the IEF conference held at Taebaek city. He said the investigation on progame team is in progress and it's optimistic. He added at current stage it's just considering stage but next year it will be decided at the counsil and the detailed plan will be announced. (wtf... next year? -_-;; )
DCinside community is wondering if they will pick up Silver whose nickname is Gambler zerg or Tazza. ...Or Shine[Name] whose nickname is Kaiji (for his similar look)
2. MBCgame coach Ha tae gi and Sea[Shield] will be invite to Proleague final broadcast as commentators (at MBCgame channel)
3. The prize money for winner of PL final is known to be 80,000,000won (a bit more than 80,000 USD). At the PL final, boxer, oov, midas, july, upmagic, tossgirl, hwasin will have autograph meeting with fans. Some game team will open booth and sell something related to their team(maybe T-shirts or cap? I dunno)
4. Nada met a boy with muscle dystrophy(wtf is this disease? ) The boy wants to be a game maker and likes Nada so much.

Muscular dystrophy is a fatal degenerative disease. The child is born normal but his muscles grow weaker with age. So the baby learns to crawl, learns to walk etc normally. By 7 or so they cannot walk long distances. By 10 they start to become wheelchair bound. By 12 or so they lose their shoulders. 14 for the elbows. My friends wrists were able to operate his chair to his death at 18 but they were constantly exercised by the use of a wheelchair. Spinal muscles degenerate to the point that the spine must be re-inforced with steel plates, in his case at age 16. Eventually either the heart gives out or the tounge chokes them to death. 20 would be an exceptionally old age. It's particularly cruel in that the child has the memories of running, playing, being normal as his body slowly kills him. There is no cure. It does however only effect men. It's recessive in women who can be carriers and therefore with the invention of genetic screening it should die away within our lifetime. Basically a woman can screen eggs before choosing one without it, or at the least, choosing a girl who will only be a carrier. It's not legal yet but I'd expect it to become legal given that when you reject the male egg it wouldn't be "zomg killing a baby" but rather sparing them.
Edit: that boy will never be a game maker.

thanks pfvoid!
hmm, interesting about a casino wanting to start an e-sports team. what's the minimum gambling age in korea? i'm surprised because it seems most e-sports fans are pretty young, whereas casinos i've seen usually seem to attract older crowds.

Wow that just blows. Sometimes it amazes me how much humankind has progressed in so many fields but we just can't seem to break that barrier of knowledge to cure these really fatal diseases (like cancer, etc., and this).
Oh well, at least meeting nada must of been awesome for him, it's good to dream I guess. -_-

I think the most ironic thing is that medicine can't even cure the common cold, never mind muscular dystrophy. Annoys me as hell.

the common cold is a virus that is never the same as the last time you caught it its kind of a different scenario

Poor kid, Nada is a good person for doing that.

Your complete lack of biological knowledge is astounding. The reason the "common cold" is uncurable is because the "common cold" is actually millions of varying strains that happen to produce the same side effects. These side effects are the reason the disease is "common" (they induced runny nose/sneezing/coughing which projects and spreads the germ rapidly. The virus is spread airborne and absorbed through any mucus membranes so its easy to spread). Its actually very easy for scientists to cure one strain of the cold but it would have no effect because it would either evolve and make the cure useless or die out without noticeable change because of the huge number or simular other strains.

I enjoy reading stories about progamers who do things for others outside of progaming. It makes them seem so much more human. I also like to watch progamers just hang out and chill (like that dance party thing) because it's fun to see what they're like when they're not behind a computer screen.

There is a vaccine for the common cold now. It's about 80% effective.
Muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder which varies in severity. It refers to a variety of muscle deficiencies resulting from genetic mutation. Some people with muscular dystrophy are bed ridden by age 2. For others, the symptoms progress slower. What's always effected is muscle use, regeneration, or development. The severity depends on the type of genetic mutation and the degree it effects the muscle cells. It's a hard disease to cure because theres so many different ways these mutations can occur. In other words there is no "singular" muscular dystrophy just like there is no individual common cold.

Remember boxers birthday (boxer did something for a crippled kid), then donor camp?

nada seems like such a nice guy

While it's definitely better than nothing that Nada (and previously, other celebs) go out and help ONE guy, televised, I would appreciate it much more if it wasn't such an "event" for publicity - wow this progamer helped one disadvantaged dude, he's such a great guy. It gives the impression that it's more about the publicity than about the actual donation of time and resources.

I thought for sure we were gonna hear something about Chojja in this thread.

so what do you want progamers to do? go out, help people, donate money, and be good citizens without the public knowing. if thats the case, then you wouldnt know what they were doing, and youd probably say theyre selfish bastards for not helping the public.
on the other hand, if they go out and help the public, with events like these, you say that they are selfish bastards for 'helping the community' for the sake of publicity. what the hell are they supposed to do?
the main purpose of televising something like this is to inspire people to do the same thing. nada and other progamers are viewed as celebrities, idols, heroes and the like all over the world. and when someone sees their idol and hero doing something like this, itll bring goodness into their heart and make them want to follow in their idols footsteps.
so dont be a douchebag jumping to conclusions and criticizing people for their actions if you dont fully understand the true purpose of it.
lol sry if i came out as a douchebag myself, but NO ONE talks about MY NADA that way... NADA FOR PRESIDENT BECAUSE HE ARE THE AWESOME.

+1 He probably heard about the kid and wanted to help and some reporters found out about it and publicized it. And who knows. He might become what he dreams to become. Nothing is impossible
