StarOwl making new Brood War video series

You guys may have heard of WarOwl, he is a Counter-Strike player and youtuber. He is well known in the Counter-Strike world. If you dont know him check him out, some quite cool videos. This is his logo:

Looks like with the release of Riot Games "Valorant" coming up he is scaling back his Counter-Strike playtime in anticipation. So while waiting for Valorant to release he is starting a new series focusing on Brood War! And ofcourse he is calling himself StarOwl for it haha.

I transcribed the youtube video for those that dont want to watch the whole thing below:

Greetings I the StarOwl greets you.

Today we embark on a quest. A quest into new territory. For I shall be playing a new videogame.
Well its not new but its new to me. Well its not new to me, I played it as a kid but its new to me in that I havent played it for a long time, or properly ever.
Its fast paced. Its tactical. Its an esport with a long history. What game could this possibly be you ask yourself.
(puts on voice) "You already play CSGO WarOwl, what other FPS game is there that has a long esport history? Oh I know it must be Quake Live."

But wait. I never said it was a First Person Shooter game. And who is the WarOwl. I am the StarOwl.

Thats right if you guessed it, I am going to be playing StarCraft: Brood War. How does a global elite CSGO player cope with a hardcore real time strategy game? Lets find out.

Im looking forward to seeing how he gets on in episode 1 (above was just the teaser). He says he is going to jump straight into competitive 1v1 ladder for the hell of it at the start and then play some single player campaign. Should be fun seeing a highly skilled player from another game being back at square one but with the competitive mindset and understanding that brings. We will see how quickly he picks things up.

It looks like he has made one other new video that references Brood War but is more about the new Half-Life Virtual Reality game. I transcribed that below too.

Could Half-Life: Alyx be the game that kills Brood War?

No.

But it could be a Brood War competitor...

Half-Life: Alyx scratches the same itch that Brood War does, both being intense games with high amounts of multitasking, the main difference being one is in real time while the other is in valve time.

Half-Life: Alyx demands that players concentrate on intricate mechanical dexterity problems with both hands. For example reloading your pistol in Virtual Reality games needs accurate hand movements. There are many highly mechanical procedures in the VR game and this is similar to macroing in Brood War. You need to use both hands, you need to practice the procedures so they become automatic. People with good natual dexterity might excel. All the while players must also be looking around, scanning the environment, scouting for the enemy and calculating their strategy. Similar to Brood War, a high level of multitasking is essential. What tech is the enemy using? How can I counter that? How can I secure additional resources to help me win the fight? These are all things a player is thinking about when playing either Brood War or Half-Life: Alyx. Its certain that VR games like Half-Life: Alyx have the potential to draw in a large audience of real time strategy players. So no I dont think Half-Life: Alyx is a Brood War killer, but it definitely could be a competitor.

In Half-Life: Smart Alyx you can pick up objects and throw them if you want to. For a virtual reality game this is pretty standard, you probably wont see anything too crazy being thrown down when you are playing the game, mostly just grenades.

Full-Life: Alyx has high definition graphics, parallels to Brood War are again evident. High definition graphics are very important to VR players and to Brood War players. The immersion has to be experienced.

"Live-Life: Full Life Alyx thx to mapmakers" is a very tactical game. Its like playing chess. Ofcourse Brood War is a very tactical game too so this will appeal to them.

So we shall soon see if Brood War players migrate to Half-Life: Alyx or not and if Brood War will die. It could happen, it could happen guys. Im not saying it will but it could happen.
