Welcome everyone!

Welcome all the bombastic people!

BSL Season 7 has just wrapped up. We, however, are anything but done. Get ready for yet another season of your favourite foreign StarCraft league - BSL Season 8 is all ahead full! With the ladder stage set to commence on the 1st of December, the time to start grinding is as good as any. Think you have what it takes? Then fire up the game, head over to Battle.net, create a brand new profile with the BSL8- tag, and rise through the ranks to qualify for a spot in one of the three layers of competition - Pro, Gosu, and Chobo. Plenty of BSL Points are still up for grabs, and with the BSL Season 10 looming on the horizon, things are bound to get heated!

There are two more exciting developments we’re thrilled to share with you:
  1. We partnered up with Liquipedia, your go-to place for all things StarCraft! Information about players, tournaments, events, statistics, maps, strategies and everything you don't know about Starcraft or another game is just on Liquipedia. To celebrate, we will be hosting a bracket prediction contest - tune in to BSL broadcasts for more details. Liquipedia supported us with USD$ 800, it will be put towards production quality improvements and ladder tournaments prize pool during Season 8, 9 and 10.

  2. We're proud to announce Esport.fund has joined the star-studded roster of BSL sponsors! Esport.fund is an organisation run by esports buffs, whose mission is to support the growth of StarCraft and esports in a wider sense. Their involvement made a number of foreign StarCraft events possible and we couldn't be happier to have them on our side. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

The partnership brings in a whopping $5,500 into the BSL, $4,000 of which will go towards increasing the prize purse of the three upcoming BSL seasons, with $1,500 being put aside for admin and production-related expenses.
    BSL Season 8: $1,000 --> $2,000
    BSL Season 9: $1,000 --> $2,000
    BSL Season 10: $3,000 --> $5,000

With all that out of the way, let’s do some StarCraft.

BSL Season 8

Ladder stage starts 01 December 2019! You can start playing now!

    How do I sign up?
    1. Create a new account using the BSL8- tag on any gateway
      BSL8-YourNickName, e.g.: BSL8-Hatchet, BSL8-Awerti, BSL8-ZZZero, ..
    2. Head over to: https://bombasticstarleague.com/
    3. Register on the site and add your in-game account to the rankings
    4. Launch StarCraft: Remastered and start laddering! The Ladder Stage commences on December 01 and closes on December 28 at 23:59 CET

-> If you want to play a SMURF during a ladder stage, you must notify Admins about it. This information will remain among BSL admins until the end of the ladder phase. People who qualify on a smurf without notifying the administrators will be removed from the tournament.

How do I qualify for each division?

    1. The top 20 players from the Ladder Stage get seeded directly into BSL8 ProLeague
    2. Players ranked #21 to #53 from the Ladder Stage get seeded into BSL8 GosuLeague
    3. All remaining Ladder Stage participants who completed at least 20 ladder games get seeded into BSL8 ChoboLeague

Continue improving your BSL ladder placement even after qualifying - the player with the higher ladder placement will be given priority during map vetoes in Ro8.

TournamentRules
1. The tournament is residency locked.

The goal of the Bombastic StarLeague is to focus on the development of players outside of Korea. Therefore, only players that are living outside of South Korea can participate in this tournament.

2. Regular match rules

  • Players must be online and available on Battle.net channel Op BSL (Europe) 15 minutes before their scheduled match. Secondary channel of communication is BSL Open Discord server.
  • 15 minutes after scheduled time, if one of the players not responding, his opponent may claim a technical win for one game.
  • 15 minutes after that he can claim a win for the whole series.

3. Playing matches before the schedule

  • Every match prior to the Elimination Stage can be played ahead of schedule if both players and admins agree.
  • Contact your opponent and set up the date to play. We strongly suggest using BSL Open Discord for this so admins can keep track of things.
  • On the selected day, play your match. Apply the same rules as for a regular match - use Op BSL and Discord to communicate.
  • If both players were unable to play on their selected date/time or weren't able to set one up, match should be played as it was scheduled.
  • It is not allowed to livestream your games or announce the result if you are playing your match earlier.
  • Winner of the match must upload the replays to the admins.

4. Latency

Default Turn Rate setting is DTR. If both players agree, Turn Rate setting can be changed.

5. Disconnects

If one of the players gets disconnected from the game before the 2-minute mark, the game must be replayed. If one of the players had an advantage after the 2 minute mark, the decision is up to the admin.

6. Casting the game

Everyone should allow ZZZero or another official caster to join the game for broadcast.

7. Everyone must join the BSL Official Discord channel

https://discord.gg/X7S87gR

8. Prize distribution

Winners of cash prizes are required to contact the organizer to agree on the desired form of payment of the prize. Contact should be via discord. The cost of sending funds and commissions are covered by the recipient.

9. Personal data

Anyone who is participating in the tournament agree to the processing of their personal data, which they made available to the organizer or which are accessible publicly.

10. Additional info

Anyone who is participating in the tournament and is considered a relative of a PEP or SDN/OFAC listed person must contact the organizer.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask anyone from the Staff on the discord channel.

Very nice Rule section; it would be nice to see as well a standard set of in game rules too for major Tournaments, as far as I know, nothing has been updated or reframed since the iccup era

What does that rule even mean?
SDN OFAC = US sanctioned person
PEP = high ranked politician

It's part of so called "Due Diligence" or "KYC" process most usually enforced by banks, insurers, fund market dealers etc. Oversimplified this is part of the process to ensure you are not Bin Laden's employee who will win BSL and purchase a nuke out of prize proceeds.

Thanks for the explanation. So that means I will have to withdraw

Thankyou for picking Clay Fields (LINK walling pictures). Clay Fields was played twice in the announcement showmatches on Saturday and I recommend watching them, particularly the second game which starts at 2:18:00 in the vod:
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/515301152

Spoilers:
+ Show Spoiler +
Game 1 TvP Terror vs Bonyth, left vs right spawns. Shows an early game fight around the hill, and shows expanding in a straight line as Protoss against Terran in left vs right spawns. Both players use drops in the later stages, its a good game. Starts at 46:00 in the vod.
Game 2 TvP Dandy vs Bonyth, top vs bottom spawns. Essentially its a 2 base 6 factory attack vs 3 base Protoss, with some vulture drops first. Going into the first proper fight both players are at 131 supply. Its a great game, strongly recommend this one.

Congratulations Zzzero and everyone for growing this tournament so successfully.
Please make sure to take enough holiday too
Excited for Season 8!

below top32 == under top32, so it means people with higher rank than top32 can't play or is it language gap ?:D

it's a tournament where you can't play if you're currently in the top32. He also talked about it in the announcement. No language gap

No VOD yet ?!

These haven't been added to the events calendar yet. I tried but it got rejected and I haven't been able to figure out what "Event stage is required." is supposed to mean…

EDIT: Oh, right. Just saw the message on Discord.

As always, there are people who do not respect your hard work and try to cheat.

Thanks Mr. ZZ0 :D EDIT: That's actually yesterday's cast, which I have watched already. I was asking about last week's.

I'd like to remind every one that an updated version of Quintessence is available on BWMN that fixes some bugs. All of yesterday's games were played on an older version.

Can you elaborate on what bugs were fixed? I'm curious.
Thanks!

Some mining/pathfinding stuff, buildings not being able to be placed between backdoor minerals at three positions. If you have more, feel free to report.

3rd base facing an oppos main isnt balanced, imo your map should have forced cross spawns (3 vs 9:30 and 12:30 vs 5:30/7)

Expand to a different third then?

Open your eyes and look at the map first then tell me which 3rd to take. The closest 3rd (other than your main's 3rd) is the high-ground one but there's debris blocking the ramp. You gotta go around to the other ramp or waste time taking down the debris to expo, on top of that the base isn't very close either. The other 3rd you could take is a main but that's too far as well..

If you get bad spawns it's so easy to get ur nat and 3rd abused by t/p/z drops and muta harass.

Inherent limitation of the game and the map layout. Nothing I can do about it (except for making a completely different map) You'll have to console yourself by noting that conversely you are also sitting right next to their main to pounce on them (as Protoss for example you can in-base proxy Reaver).

I am pumped for this. Consider making a thread for group selection. And I’d love some Zerg player casters!
