This season's KSL has a bit of a changing of the guard feel to it, with a lot of names missing. Who has retired lately? I'm thinking of Flash, Last, Jaedong, Soulkey, but could have sworn there were more.

Last hasn't retired yet, but his wrist and arm are in bad shape. Flash has injury as well but in his case its more about Afreeca and Twitch.

Soulkey went to army. Jaedong is going soon.

Many Protoss players failed in qualifiers including Omekim and Horang2.

Thanks. I am fairly sure Flash has gone to the military, though of course the timing is partly for health reasons too.

What's up with Protoss in the qualifers this season? Only 1 made it through.

Mini, Stork, SnOw and Rain were seeded into row 16 and outside of Best Protoss are quite horrible. I'm not sure if Pure plays anymore but he was terrible during Sospa- Era. Bisu didnt participate cause Afreeca/Twitch complications. Then we have IamMang-omeking, Horang2, Jaehoon and Lazy? At least Horang2 is incredibly bad nowdays. I was surprised that he actually got so far given how he plays on stream.

Flash still plays in pretty much everything outside ASL and KSL (e.g. KCM, MPL etc.). He also said that he is considering doing one more ASL before his service. Flash is only 27 (western age), he could still postpone his service for quiet a bit if he really wanted to.
Generally speaking, very few people actually retire nowadays. It's mainly people leaving for the military or people skipping tournaments due to health issues. Even Nada made it into ASL a couple of seasons ago. The only big name retiring in recent years that I could think of is Jangbi.

Recent notable military departures: effort and soulkey. Both will probably be back in the scene once their military service is up.

Mong is another player who is about to enter military (last ASL was his last tournament).

Shuttle and Hero will probably be back on the scene within the next year when their service is up.

Flash will be be around for probably at least another year (streaming daily and participating in special events/team leagues like MPL or KCM), but he said that he almost certainly won't participate in any more individual leagues because his doctor said that it would be too much strain on his wrist.

Last should be back in the next ASL unless his wrists are still bad.

Jaedong's skill has been declining pretty steadily since KSL 1 (from what I can tell due to his poor wrist condition and maybe also lack of motivation but that is just speculation on my part). He's almost certainly going to enlist in the military within the next year. Hopefully he can recoup and heal his wrists and come back to the scene after his service.

Did I hear that leta has recently enrolled in the military?

players that have sorta fallen off, not sure if just from lack of success/motivation or they are anticipating enlisting soon: movie, miso, horang2?

Flash's doctor said he can probably be exempt from miltiary due to his injuries. He already gone surgery back then leaving him a longass scar and plus he's having another injury right now. He probably will lay off a season or two then comeback to smash again.

Some players that should come back from military within ~1 year:

- (T)sSak
- (P)Sky (not sure whether he's in the military or retired)
- (P)free
- (Z)hero
- (P)Shuttle
- (T)Sea

All of the players who recently finished military service came back to the scene ((Z)ZerO, (Z)HyuN, (T)HiyA, (P)Bisu), so i asume most of these will come back as well

I remember reading about that year ago but never thought accusation was true. His liquipedia should be updated and get a "nuke" icon so everyone can shame on him.

Oh wow, i didn't know that, thanks for clearing that up. Sad to hear that after all what happened after the match fixing scandal there are still people doing stuff like that...

Does everyone agree that Jaedong is completely out? Not saying otherwise, I just think he still can pull some very nice wins against the big boys sometimes.

I also think he's lost his passion, he could regain it after his military service and his wrist could recover from a 2 years break. I still believe 👽

a lot of these guys started after the new law passed right? 1.5 years of service instead of 2
