I agree with Kuks. Stork is good whenever he wants to be good, and with Bisu absent, I think he wants it.

Tbh, maybe I am too negative, but to me it seemed like he started playing a bit more seriously (tho not at this level), at the point when he noticed that other players/viewers weren't taking him seriously/making fun of his playstyle, there was one match I remember where some players that watched like mocked his play.
My heroes: Jangbi, Bisu, Stork and BeSt for BW, Rain, Zest and Stats for SC2! Need a better Signature tbh...

I think one aspect that is missing from the charts or well is not represented on charts that just look at the percentages is how much a player played against the different races.

In the past 4-5 month Stork played as many vZs as vT and vP combines. That means that while many of his matchups have a similar win percentage the vZ matches have a higher total win count and it also just shows what he is focusing on during practicing and spons. This is further underlined with how vP is by far the rarest spon for him to play.

It would be interesting to see how other player's matchup distribution is like, I sadly can't dig into this now but I wonder if someone has some insight based on this aspect of the available data.

I really don't see how Terrans are doing the worst or the maps are Terran favored. Specifically I remember Shuttle making a comment about how Afreeca seems to want zergs to win (Sparkle is an excellent example brought in after that comment, constant changes to bring it to the current situation).

I vaguely remember this being a thing, where while streaming, he would often look at like females broadcasters streams instead of playing any games.

But (and I only watched him one time recently so that could be wrong) it doesn't seem to be the case anymore, atleast that one time I watched he was playing and focusing on the game.

I have not watched online games (including sponmatches), just ASL and SSL. I've seen a lot of Rain hype, but so far his play have not seemed that impressive to me. I know he had success in SC2 and he was pretty good up and coming protoss towards the end of KeSpa era so I hope he proves me wrong.

It is not just success, he like defined PvP for a while, and showed Protoss you could actually Macro and win, I remember a couple months where he had like a 80-90% winrate and shit, the kid defenitely has the potential if he puts his mind to it.

Also I would say if you look at more of his recent games, the ones for Bisus spot for example, he earned that spot.

90% (number made up - it's a lot of the time though) of the time Rains stream is him watching a female streamer

I mean, you can say that but I don't think it's right to completely ignore SSL, KSL and VNSL just because Flash and several other pros came back. If anything, I would argue that a lot of the players who came first practiced hard to impress their fans and try and gain a following. Piano was a much strong player then, same goes for some others. It's only after having come back and done the same routine etc... that some likely lost their motivation. Also, ortstream makes a good rebuttal to your second half.

PVJ, you're right. The graphs give an overall winrate and don't consider just how much more someone played vs a certain race.

Best and Stork just got eliminated in a bracket where Snow advanced. I thought this would happen. We already saw Best fave off against Flash in an ASL where he lost. So now I'm hoping Snow does better.

What about Snow compared to Rain? To me Snow seems better. I saw Rain play in ASL4 and his nerves looked rattle. Especially against Soulkey and Larva. The games were action packed and you could tell Rain is jittery. But I'd love to see Flash face both Snow and Rain in ASL5. If he won despite playing both of those players, then I'll believe he is a god.

that first game from best vs hero on transistor was really rough and kinda unfortunate, immediately losing that first zealot and even letting more lings in later on. he fought admirably afterwards, but was just too far behind. snow just got rekt by his (lack of) corsair control vs hero which prevented him from ever getting into a desirable spot in the game. so as far as pvz goes which is the main focus of the article i'd say they both showed some promising ideas, but also made crucial mistakes vs a top notch zvper in hero.
snow then got the better end of build orders in the deciding pvp vs best, but best actually fought back valiantly although it wasnt enough in the end. i'm glad snow made it through and we get to see more of him including a possible ro8 match vs flash (2nd place finisher vs 1st place), but i still liked best's play today despite his elimination. all in all i'd still rate them closely.

flash and best actually never met in asl. the last time they played in a tournament was in the danjjing starleague little over 2 months ago where best won 3-2. maybe even more reason to hope snow plays and beats him in the playoff this season, possibly already in the ro8 as mentioned before

tough to call imo, snow looked shaky in his games so far too. absolutely agree though that it would be nice if flash got a proper bracket of death this season. ro8 vs snow, ro4 vs rain, final vs jd would be a dream :D
