Rus_Brain is sponsoring a new online tournament, StarCraft: Remastered Rus_Brain Cup.

There are no limitations on who can participate, everyone is welcome! Anyone who has StarCraft: Remastered installed can take part.

Schedule
22 October 2017, 10:00 AM CET - SC:R RB Cup S1R1
29 October 2017, 10:00 AM CET - SC:R RB Cup S1R2
5 November 2017, 10:00 AM CET - SC:R RB Cup S1R3
12 November 2017, 10:00 AM CET - SC:R RB Cup S1R4
19 November 2017, 10:00 AM CET - SC:R RB Cup S1R5
26 November 2017, 10:00 AM CET - SC:R RB Cup S1R6
3 December 2017, 10:00 AM CET - SC:R RB Cup S1R7
10 December 2017, 10:00 AM CET - SC:R RB Cup Decider
17 December 2017, 10:00 AM CET - SC:R RB Cup Finals

You should confirm your registration one hour prior to the tournament, starting at 9:00 AM CET.

Participation guidelines available in English, Russian and Korean.

Where?
Battle.net Europe, Channel SC:R RB Cup

Format
S1R1, S1R2,.. S1R7 - Single elimination BO3, including the finals. Winner will receive at least $100. The winner of each round cannot participate in any subsequent rounds. Instead, he should prepare well for the finals. After the seventh round, a public vote will be run to choose the top 3/4 players and give them a chance to compete in a deciding round for a final spot. The decider will be a full double BO3, including the final match. There is no minimal prize pool for the decider. It may happen that the winner of the decider will get nothing, but a spot in the finals.

The final round will be a full double BO3 with a BO5 winner match. The guaranteed finals prize pool is $1,000 and will be split into 60%, 30% and 10% for first, second and third place respectively.

Prize Pool
GoodGame.ru tournament module allows any individual to make a contribution to the prize pool. Rus_Brain guarantees the minimum prize pool, but the community is encouraged to donate. GoodGame.ru is eligible for pay-outs. Guidelines on how to donate can be found here.

Map Pool
Current Battle.net ladder map pool, even if it will be changed one hour prior to the start of the tournament. The first map will be pre-determined, and the loser may pick any map out of the remaining un-played ones.

Race Pick
Race picking and playing random are allowed, however, the player should announce his race at the start of each game. You are not allowed to play as zerg in the first game then switch to terran in the second one, except if you are playing random.

Lag
Low latency turn rate 16 is recommended, although players are allowed to change the settings for better control, or better connection. In the case of unplayable lag, the administrator will determine the winner (according to classified administrating guidelines).

Fair Play
It is assumed that the StarCraft: Remastered community is old enough to distinguish between fair play, abuse and blatant cheating. Maphacks or bot-assisted micro tools are blatantly illegal. Allied mines and flying ground unit bugs will not be tolerated! Hold lurkers and observers on top of turrets are allowed. Unfair play will result in severe penalties!

Limits of Authority
The host's rights are unlimited.
This tournament is hosted for hundreds of players and thousands of stream viewers. A single person's urge for "justice" will likely be disregarded. Although one may try to convince the tournament host to make a "fair" decision, one should also consider the risk of being disqualified for "excessive discussions". This tournament is hosted by Russians, who lack such things as free speech, democracy and human rights.

Tournament Host
GoodGame.ru reserves the right to determine a tournament host for each round. You will be informed in every single round.

Streams
GoodGame.ru reserves the right to admit the official stream casters. If you want to receive admission, please contact GoodGame.ru. You will get the timeout (stream delay) and other instructions. Each player must accept and allow the stream caster to observe their game upon request.

"according to classified administrating guidelines" lol, and what might those be?
Have you considered the MMO-Champion forum? You are just as irrational and delusional with the right portion of nostalgic populism. By the way: The old Brood War was absolutely unplayable

Seems rather counterproductive to announce them to the players, wouldn't you think?

I am considering a cut to the final round of course. What percentage would you suggest if I asked to vote?

considering that the qual is very generous with 100$ to the first place + a place to the final event i think 200$ should be the max to win from a qual and making the final event with higher prizes or better splits sounds really good

On the other hand, rules are rules. I would easily accepted amendments for the second season, but changing now is not professional.

Oh. I was really considering playing in that tournament tomorrow (even arranged that with my family), but if we already have Scan/Mong I'm going to skip. GL to everyone else though.

I think its a poor move to have Mong play in this. Its like a 10th grader who keeps on showing up to beat up 6th graders in football or something. How can that be a good thing? Dont they make more money in sponmatches anyway. So why does he have to participate? ugh

I can be one of his foreign fans, i like him, but theres nothing cool about him beating around with foreigners. He is an ex-pro and a full time streamer. Most foreigners have jobs on the side. Part of the fun with foreign tourneys is the internal competition amongst foreign players. Its about our shared community. Having people like Mong and other korean pros coming and just sweeping away all competition is just counter productive to that. Scan is atleast part of our community, helping out with information and strategy etc. so i'm more cool with him participating.

Organizing showmatches between foreigners and korean pros, i'm all for that, but that's completely different.

Every single time whether Koreans are allowed or not allow to participate someone starts this fucking discussion. Really wish TL starts handing out bans for constantly derailing tournament threads with this discusssion...

Excuse me? Did i sound like a troll to you? I share my opinions and back them up with arguments. Whats the point of a thread if we cannot discuss matters that are important to a tournament? Or are we only allowed to discuss matters one time and come to a "concensus" and forever hold our breath? When did this one-time discussion happen by the way? I certainly missed it, because guess what, I dont read every single thread that has ever been created here (go figure) Is there a portal you can direct me to that lists all the subjects that we are not allowed to discuss and "consensuses" that have been made?

If you have knowledge that can completely counter my argument, why not be so kind to offer it? Thats the way you can prevent more people starting a discussion you dont like - by spreading knowledge in public. Not banning ideas and opinions.

My post is not even necessarily against the decision made by the hosts to include koreans. I'm actually just stating what i think and feel about someone like Mong participating. There are many things in society that is allowed (by law), but that we still can frown upon, right?

Same stuff as with most other Koreans. When Bonyth faced him they were forced to play on tr8 on super lag. Is this really what makes the tournament enjoyable? Unless we try to make it a only-korean tournament (as I guess many will be attracted if prize pool remains in these levels)

Same stuff as with most other Koreans. When Bonyth faced him they were forced to play on tr8 on super lag. Is this really what makes the tournament enjoyable? Unless we try to make it a only-korean tournament (as I guess many will be attracted if prize pool remains in these levels)
If lag is the only case, and you insist that if the connection was perfect then Bonyth would have won - we can make a deal. I'll arrange such meeting, and you'll pay triple expense in case Bonyth's lose. Is this OK?

No one knows if Bonyth would have won or not, and I haven't "insisted" on anything in my post, where is your statement coming from? However I know that games at that level suffer a lot both from viewership and execution point of view.

How about that: I'll host a tournament for 1000$ where top foreigners will play without koreans and lag, and you'll host a 1000$ tour where you get a mash up of korean-foreign-super laggy games (not to mention the prize pool only for #1). If my tournament attracts more players / viewers you'll pay me triple the prize pool.

Are we both supposed to spend $1,000;
with odds for you to get $3,000 and odds for me to get nothing,
or you accidentaly forgot to mention the consequences of you not winning? I abstain.

But if you have spare $1k I can offer you my best support and gratitude should you decide to host cogeT Cup on your own rules. I am pretty sure the community will be thankful too.

Other Europeans have no issue playing with Koreans on TR8 because there's no lag. Bringing up only 1 or 2 players' issue isn't a good idea to start arguing sponsor's final decision after he hosted a tour.

just wondering but, how do you think you would do vs guys like larva, hero or soulkey (best zergs in the world) on TR8 low latency/high latency?

I feel like zerg race is hardly viable on this turn rate if terran plays flawlessly.

Zerg can play lurker but when lurker is expected it becomes so much weaker..

Just wondering what you think

there is not need to ask, there re countless threads of koreans complaining about tr8 or tr10.that said i dont find tr8 european vs european bad as people claim, but playing vs other regions Asia in general it makes just the games really annoying to play.but why will a player complain about lag if the oponent is progamer lvl right?

Hello

I come here to receive official answer from admins regarding possible lag issues in a tournament and how would that be resolved. I believe that Turn Rate 10 + high latency should be the maximum delay to be considered the game playable. My question is: how would the hyphotetical situation be resolved, if the lags are worse?

Note that I'm not here to start or continue some war politics against koreans. I understand completely why people like to see korean in foreign tournaments and I've changed my position about it, as I'm no longer against it. However, lag is different issue.

Watch this VOD from minute 1:33:30 to 1:34:40 - https://go.twitch.tv/videos/184168968
And compare it to this VOD from minute 12:00 to 12:30 - https://go.twitch.tv/videos/184186308

Firstly, I am a micro-type player. I relly on units potential to decide the outcome of a battle. Reavers, carriers, all units need to be controlled with great care.
Secondly, I wanna mention that terran race benefits from lag (as in long units reaction time). Terran is the most strategic race of all the 3. This is why in the era of Turn Rate 8 ladder all the top slots on every server is dominated by terrans. This is why every korean getting good results on foreign scene is terran.

I'm going to keep participating in tournaments, because they are great and I love the rules of it (especialy the one saying "this is Russia, there is no freedom of speech"), the format is really cool too, probably the 1st of its kind. However, If I was to meet Mong in the grand finals, how would the situation be resolved? I know it's a tough question, I don't have an answer for it myself, a dead end.

Dear Friends,

1) Lag. This is very difficult to answer Bonyth's question. Seems there is no real solution. The simple one offered "BAN KOREANS!!11" - won't be adopted. Our team agree with the arguments that we abolish the intrigue allowing Koreans to play, albeit such arguments usually end up with a "solid" conclusion to BAN KOREANS, which I personally treat miserable.
Yet, please trust that Bonyth and other guys have been heard and we are working on solution. Apparently there is one that will solve a lot of problems but bring another one to life. The result is that yelpers will always remain. Here is a small tip at the moment. Alike tournament system has existed in the past.

2) LAN tournament. Right at the time I am not willing to host WCG-like LAN due to involvement and efforts needed. The RB Cup is mostly a "paid statistics" for me which may or may not materialize into something more.

I am very much thankful to those like Bonyth who says "Hey man, you have big problems here, there and over there. Think about it. Meanwhile I will keep playing as is, albeit without much joy". And I will disregard ultimatums to bet with the odds of loosing something and winning nothing. Eventually Russians do not have freedom of speech

Cheers,
RB

Rus_Brain, my bet was only a mere repercussion of what you wrote about sending Bonyth to korea to play Mong, as you might have realized there was nothing to win for me there too.

RB is the boss. Keep doing what you are doing, keep improving where possible, have an open conversation with players. We have very few of both, so solution can be found.
Awesome games this tournament, well played by Bonyth!

I have no fear playing against any zerg. Latency does matter in game for any race(TvP is so bad. Vultures can't even put mines + Terran takes too much time unsieging + sieging with moving out 200/200), and maybe you were spending too much effort on muta micro in ZvT. Also, lings have better chance winning against marines in early game due to the latency for terran.

There are 3 types of muta usage. Passive, passive-aggressive, and aggressive. Of course if you are using your muta very aggressively with your lings in that bad latency may cause the game very poor for zerg side. However, if you decide to play some other ways around, it's fine.

The only reason why I think that Terran players were in the top list most of the time was Zerg players are sooooo used to playing on L2 + lowlatency hack(there's a 3rd party program by German programmer) which they get to play on nearly TR12(comparison from 1.16 version to remastered).

If you felt ZvT was somewhat hard and got frustrated for losing the game by decent Terran players, I think you are making a lot of mistakes. Not because of latency unless it was a horrible latency speed(example: TR8 EH latency)

In addition, I have better win rate on better latency in TvZ because I can instantly respond and snipe muta in combat(MM vs muta + ling). Less frustration losing MM and they did their job.

so you really think, zerg isnt at any disadvantadge at all in turn rate 8?

that's surprising to me, the units are so low hp & mutas are so delicate, you really need low response time. I think I've heard you say that you dont like playing zerg unless it's TR12 minimum on your stream.

no, i never said zerg isn't at any disadvantage at all. I do agree that low response time is really needed for muta micro against marine medic(that has att+1), but it won't change much of games once you play "passive aggressive" or "passive" style.

I've played zerg, and ZvT way before remastered, it really matters about your muta usage decision. You don't always need to use muta like effort who loves only 1 sunk, mass muta ling to hold center.

"dude just don't play aggressive muta zvt and you'll be fine on high lat" cmon, that's how the peruvians excuse their connections!! i feel like i have seen tons of [pe] players saying the same thing when they lag switch between extra high and low during ~6-7 min. it definitely matters for zerg just like it matters for other races

not to mention that it's just plain retarded playing high lat after playing on low lat fish for so long, it fucks with your head and undoubtedly makes your mechanics worse. if that's what you want to test in the tournament then so be it, but it's certainly not indicative of starcraft skill lol. same as playing vs PE and CL players, it's always a fucking wash because the game is completely different when you're playing at 999 ms.

also brain is dead, so if you two want to grudge match then you'll either have to hamachi 1.16.1 or lan, because we all know how iccup's connection is.

It doesn't matter if the server itself lags, the game is still run p2p on 1.16.1. That's by no way new.

really??? i didn't know that, i have practiced with ppl on iccup, had it been too laggy, and switched to fish and have the lag disappear. maybe it's #w vs iccup launcher, idk.

Yeah, or some other software problem. The server never really mattered much, all the server was needed for was to provide the lobby and record your statistics for a ranking system. To be fair, the original ICCup launcher was never state of the art past 2010, yet MCA should have been enough.

NA usually have good connection with KR. If you live in West coast, you can play on TR12(remastered client) which is faster than #l2.

This seems to be true. I live in central US (Colorado) and I can play TR12 high latency or TR10 low latency 2v2s w/ some Korean friends.

For ladder, I get matched up against Koreans quite a lot and I'd say it's 30% low latency, 60% high latency, 10% extra high latency. (though obviously I have no idea what the TR is for these games

Shinee is banned from tournament due to messing the bracket in round one. He went afk for more than hour and eventually Brat_OK was granted a walkover.

Hi all! Im new to TL tournaments!

Is it reasonable to attend with an 1600 MMR rank for fun, or the average playerbase for tournaments like these are in the 1800, 2000+ ?

If you are 1600, you are probably going to lose pretty hard, maybe round 1, almost always round 2. BUT: Everyone likes more participants. Everybody is fine, or even happy, to meet an easy opponent in one round. And you get the opportunity to perhaps face one of the best players outside korea. So if you want to sign up, it really doesn't matter how bad you are, just go for it.

Thanks guys! Its all right, Im just looking for a way to challange myself and have some community vibe, not just ladder grind.

I think If I play a bit more I could get to 1700+. Back then (12 years ago) I could snatch down some national B members from my country (Hungary) and was C on PGtour.

Would love to find a free Sunday as well, to participate! I remember one of the best things in BW was when the ladder reset and we could face all those big names you kept reading about and watching games of! I always got smashed, of course, but tournaments like these and ladder reset really are wonderful for the community, in my opinion! =)

Kudos to the organizer(s)!
It's ok. I still love you <3

since the mappool changed is this going to apply for the last chance tour?
Map Pool
Current Battle.net ladder map pool, even if it will be changed one hour prior to the start of the tournament. The first map will be pre-determined, and the loser may pick any map

According to all three websites combined (TL, GG, reps.ru) Bratok, Ex and Spx advance to Decider. I would kindly ask Ty2 be ready as well, as I anticipate that someone will not come.

Tournament starts in two and a half hours. Everyone can increase prize pool on goodgame.ru tournament page

There will be two official Russian streams: from Pomi and magiK

Can't find any info about English stream and it saddens me. This tournament loses so many viewers because of poor coverage.
