It's like night and day to less accomplished players such as HiyA who has higher eapm. It's like saying speed isn't important in football, because slow players such as Riquelme are able to have great success. Being able to play the game at high speed, is a quality that isn't essential to win the game, but is an asset that simply cannot be ignored. Of course, protoss players can get away with having lower eapm than the other two races, but for terran and zerg players, having a high eapm is a super positive quality. FanTaSy succeeded despite having mediocre speed of play, but even he was unable to overcome it fully, as evidenced by his lack of success with pure bionic play (which is the most mechanically intensive terran style of play). Of course, necessity is the mother of invention, and FanTaSy overcame his deficiency against the zerg race by developing the meta-game of the match-up, but imagine he had the bionic capabilities of someone like Light in his prime, and had the strategical aspect added on top of that.

Take for example Zero vs Effort/Hero: big difference in APM, no real difference in how fast they are. Speed is of course very important, not disagreeing there Is there a better method of objectively rating a player's speed of play than eAPM? It's not a perfect measurement, of course, but it's not useless statistic like you seem to suggest. Is there a player with an eAPM over 200 (out of any professional players, or current streaming ex-professionals) you consider to be slow in terms of carrying out their actions?

GJ man, trying to shedd some light on the facts using logic and knowledge... otherwise It's just ppl saying whatever it comes to their heads as if it was some kind of universal truth. Although apm is meaningless It's not apm what is meaningless, apm/eapm is only a very specific measurement of a given thing, It's just information and in this case strongly relationed with speed, people adding special meanings and features randomly to it It's what I call missuse and missinterpretation of information. People throwing words so lightly is what it is meaningless in my opinion...

+ Show Spoiler + I also think that's the reason Protoss players tend to have less APM in general. Another example is with zerg play: lurker/defiler play tends to be around 350 even with the fastest players, while aggressive muta play goes up to 450+
