Continuing the good news, FiFo and Uzoo.com report that G.O. have come to terms with CJ, a major Korean coorporation.

As you all know, G.O. is one of the elite teams of progaming. They have never finished lower than 4th in any team league, and constantly produce individual league winners. After a long stretch of toughing it out on their own (and losing players to coorporate teams) G.O. have reached a deal with CJ.

CJ is a pretty big company, comparable to the likes of SK. It started out in the food industry, and is now a major player in packaged food, retail, and entertainment. In particular, CJ is the largest presence in Korea's booming entertainment scene, owning a movie studio, distribution house, and a management company that employs Korea's biggest stars.

I mentioned above that CJ is comparable to SK in size, and it looks like CJ's support of G.O. will match that of SKT T1. This includes salaries for all players and coaches, a new living area/practice facility, a van, and other perks. People are saying things like "new record contract" or "no limit to the funds set aside." While we will have to wait to see if this is really true, considering G.O.'s presitge and CJ's clout, there's no reason why CJ can't set new benchmarks spending.

Right now CJ is in the process of designing a new look for G.O., including new team name, logo, and uniform colors. G.O. members will represent CJ as soon as next week, in the MSL and OSL.

Also intriguing is the fact that CJ owns Korea's largest celebrity managment company, as mentioned above. People are wondering if this means that G.O. members might also get involved more traditional entertainer-like activities.

There are no interviews or specifics reported yet, this is very recent news, but if they get posted I'll update this accordingly.
[update] ujoo has a lot of translations up on the news page, everybody gogogo.

Congrats G.O.
returns upon momentous occasions.

don't

as far as the sponsorship goes, it's really great to see new money flowing into the starcraft progaming industries. as long as big companies continue to back teams, brood war will stay in the limelight and we can all continue to enjoy playing and watching this game for years to come

So, we got all the teams being sponsored? or there are still teams that don't have sponsor?

Well G.O. was the biggest one who didn't had one! ;o

Go G.O.!

Its the other way around.
As long as Broodwar is in the limelight, big companies will continue to support the teams.
The fact that G.O is sponsored is not going to directly increase the size of OGN or MBCGame's audience, rather the current viewership is significant enough in size as is to encourage a large corporation to invest.

... and since when does the success of professional gaming in Korea determine whether or not we can still play Starcraft?

blizzard must make royalties off all this progaming business, so i very much think it affects the provision of our free bnet servers

this is great news for progaming btw, i love how koreans are comitting further to broodwar rather than backing away from it..

it increases the chances of brood war not dying out as quick

Is this the same company as CJ Media, which is supposedly starting its own games channel and Starleague?

1. Unsponsored teams: Soul, KOR (rumored to change)

2. Blizzard make almost no royalties from any of this.

CJ Media is a part of CJ corporation. They have so many subsidiaries its hard to keep track of them all. But if there's a "CJ" .. it's most likely part of the family

On what ground would Blizzard ask for money ?
You pay for the game, then you do with it as you please. If blizzard was to ask money everytime it's game were played... then we would have a very very odd situation. When would that stop, who would pay, every tournaments ? every players for every matches ?

Come on.
luck is not a factor

Ehm, well, personally I'd probably quit BW if it died in korea.
