and Nal_rA has only been around for what? 2-3 years, and GARIMTO has won 2 starleagues (SKY 2001 and FreeChal), and most people would say that OGN starleagues take more skill than MBC Starleagues, so there. and im sure steve was joking about ra. im not saying im a Ra hater or anything, its just that ra is one of the top players, but not the best in history. | ||

Garimto sure accomplished a lot during a short period of time, but it doesn't change the fact that he has not made more accomplishments than nal_ra. You may also want to add that during the FreeChallenge days when Garimto won the starleague, the competition was nowhere near as tough as during the days when nal_ra won his starleagues. Garimto did win an OSL when competition was more fierce, but that doesn't take away anything from ra's two starleague wins. Other than that, ra has made numerous other high place finishes in leagues, where Garimto didn't. And give me 1 good reason why OGN starleague takes more skill than MBC Starleague | ||

OGN is also more popular, thus you are under a bit more pressure, and then you have to produce a more 'better' game than usual. and about the MSL is not a starleague, i think all of us teamliquidians regard the term 'starleague' as the ongamenet starleague and not the MBC starleague, we obviously use the term MSL as MBC starleague, but you didnt state that in your statement so yeh. and about freechal not being fierce or whatever, i think players like bassy and alike were pretty good back then. | ||

24 players also compete for the MSL title. 4 of the top seeded players from the previous MSL remains. OGN is also more popular? Only in teamliquid. MBC provides the same exact prize rewards for its top finishers. It air on its own cable channels. It has the same exact players trying to qualify for it as OGN (Name me 1 OSL participant who tried to qualify for OSL and not MSL). It's the same f'n starleague deal, just different name. If anything, winning an MSL is HARDER than winning an OSL simply because it has a double elimination format. Double elimination >>>>>>> single elimination, that's not even debatable. Double elimination reduces the luck factor by a significant amount. In OSL, players even get to pick their opponent. MSL in general has produced more skilled champions than OSL. IPXZerg is certainly more dominating than Anytime, and so was pretty much almost every single previous MSL winner. Take the list of MSL champions in each starleague and line them up against OSL champions in each starleague and compare. | ||

For instance: for Androide, you probably want more for macro than micro...he won his WCG games through macro skills, not micro. And no foreigner should be above a 6 in any category. Otherwise you will have too many progamers being 10's. If you're going to differentiate between the macro skills of NaDa, Oov, and other macro monsters, then you really can't have guys like Elky and Midian at 8, as good as they may be. And how can foreigners be compared to Koreans in success? T_T Top 8 in OSL is harder than top 2 in WCG. As for those who want to argue, I'm going to just let it go at this point because I recognize this thread as silly and I recognize people who think that top non-Koreans are top tier porgamer level as ignorant. | ||

I'm not sure if this has been anwsered before (i haven't gone through all 9 pages of posts.) but anyway, not only on TLnet but also among koreans, when you said just "starleague", most of people recognize it as OSL conventionally or for whatever reasons, unless he/she asks back "which SL?" on top of it, I heard OGN registered "Starleague" normally people don't say just "a starleague" for MSL. they say "MBC starleague or MSL" specifically. yeah, it sounds kinda confusing but that's the fact anyway. as for popularity, it's the same in general in korea that more weights are put on OSL than MSL. | ||

Indeed it is always OSL and MSL. Personally I think the MSL has a far better organized style tournament. OSL is such a pain in the ass to cover. Though I got a lot of joy out of it once I figured the OSL out. Though OSL was voted more for on TL, MSL is still pretty high up there. I think it's cause OSL's been around longer and it has a little more history behind it. It is true, OSL is actually known as "Starleague" in Korea. MSL is MSL. If you look at mapdori, the OSL maps they categorize are under 스타리그, and not OSL. | ||
