In any case, yay! But seriously, my theory is that the foreign interest in BW is currently limited by the video quality of the streams. So if this ends up helping in this regard too, it may be quite a push for the foreign interest in BW. On May 07 2012 19:22 ChriS-X wrote: watsc2 OSL in june/july ? source, i missed that :/ all i can find is that ogn works on open individual sc2 league with no date; and for OSL they say they haven't decided yet and thus it could remain BW indefinitely it seems so far http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=333959 scroll down to ongamenet highly unlikely though with the direction they're taking PL.... this OSL could very well be the last BW OSL ever Well, there is a chance that it might not be. OGN is rather reluctant to let go of their BW leagues, especially if their financial issues are solved. [11:20] Is OGN, currently doing SC1 and (will do) SC2 concurrently, moving to SC2 for individual leauge? Mr. Hwang: First of all, a schedule for SC2 League hasn't been finalized, but we are looking into the early July for the first season. OSL in SC1 will start its main tournament in 2 weeks, but if issues of sponsoship and players are solved, then this league may not be the final SC1 league. SC1 has been a big role for 10 years and saying farewell to it isn't bad either, but I cannot guarantee you that this will be the final one. http://esfiworld.com/news/live-updates-starcraft-2-e-sports-vision-press-conference Even with a lot of top players going to SC2, there are still a lot of rising stars in BW that are just starting to make a name for themselves as the older players weaken. And there are still a lot of amateur players to tap into, which OGN kinda already experimented with with MyStarleague. But then again, Tving being part of CJ is making me a bit skeptical of if KeSPA can branch out to external sponsors instead of relying on affiliates of KeSPA companies, like SK Planet.

On a related note, why does every thread with "OSL" in it's title have to degenerate into an argument about whether or not this is the last BW OSL? It really doesn't seem relevant to the context, and I'm sure there are threads better suited for that purpose. edited for grammar~~

![]() Ongamenet's 33rd Starleague will be sponsored by Korea's best N Screen service, tving. The tving Starleague 2012 Ro16 will begin on the 8th with the group lottery ceremony, and will be broadcast every week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7:30 PM KST. CJ Hello Vision's tving is a service that connects your PC, Smartphone, Tablet, etc. with the internet and allows you to watch more than 200 channels in real time, as well as over 50,000 VODs. In particular, they provide content like Mnet's Voice of Korea, Superstar K 3, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Super Race, things that young people are into. blah blah more stuff about tving CJ Hello Vision tving director Choi Byung Hwan stated, "Tving deals mostly in content targeted towards youth, and we believe sponsoring a starleague will create good synergy with our aims, so we're looking forward to this. The Starleague is important to the growth and development of game culture." "Within tving, we've set up a channel specifically for Starleague live broadcasts, and we're offering VOD services for it as well, so that no matter where you are or what time it is, you have the right media environment to watch the OSL."

bw keeps going!!! but here i really want to make a complain about players, though i know they are somewhat forced to do so: i dont like players started practicing sc2 while they are currently in bw league. the standard of game seems drop a lot because of the lack of practice. well i understand the future of those players lie in their performance in sc2, but as a bw fan i just cant keep silence. i hope this osl will have remarkable games like jangbi vs fantasy in last osl final or bisu vs flash in the last spl..

The OS2L and the OSL are separate things, and the BW OSLs may or may not continue past this one. Getting a sponsor makes the "may" side more likely (yay!).

Although it would have been even better if an external company were to sponsor it, I'm slightly sad that none grabbed the awesome opportunity that is the Starleague.
