And the winners are...
SKT!
- Thoughts on guaranteeing your team's advancing to the postseason?
Fantasy: Yesterday Khan lost, so we had to win to qualify for the playoffs; it was a must-win situation. When it was 3-0, I thought we could comfortably win. But I became extremely nervous as the match progressed to Ace. Thank God that s2 won.
s2: I'm really happy that I personally pushed our team into the playoffs. But of course this isn't the end; our final goal is to win at GwangAhnRi.
- You suddenly began playing much stronger during the second half of the season (T/N perhaps they're referring the WL season, i.e. R4 as opposed to R3?) Fantasy: It wasn't really that I ran into really strong players at the beginning, but I didn't really have a chance to show my strength. Right now I'm just starting to play comfortably, but Winner's League is over. But that's ok; the playoffs remain. There, I'll recover what I deserve and win the championship.
- Today you were very important to your team, but during the season as a whole, are you a bit disappointed? s2: Actually I'd already decided a goal, but because I haven't been sent out much, I haven't been able to reach my goal. But it's not over yet, so I'll reach my goal during the postseason.
- Why haven't you been sent out much? (T/N interviewer is a jerk ) s2: I've been practicing hard, but things haven't been going as well as I wanted. I always want to play well, and work very hard, so please believe in me!
- You overcame some build order disadvantages to 3-kill. Fantasy: Though I was at a slight disadvantage in the openings, it was small enough that it didn't really matter to me. The 3rd set was actually pretty bad, but I just told myself that as long as I didn't lose the island expansion I would be fine.
- Did you expect Dear to come out the 2nd match? Fantasy: I heard his PvT was very strong. Yesterday he also appeared in the MSL (T/N actually MST), and my teammate (T/N probably s2?) gave me a report, so I made some preparations. Though I didn't play all that cleanly, I fortunately still won.
- Did you think the match was really easy when you were up 3:0? Fantasy: Not at all; I was alert the whole time, because I really hate losing. Jaedong played a little better (T/N lolol). I feel like if I practice hard, I should be able to beat him in the future.
- How were you feeling after being reverse 3-killed right after? Fantasy: Though Bisu lost, I trusted in the skills of our remaining two Zergs. Today we saw that even if our Zergs have mirror builds, they can get an advantage. I think they can do even better. s2: To be honest, from anyone's point of view, it looked like Jaedong would all-kill. But I practiced very hard, and everyone believed in me, so I thought I could win. Originally in my heart I had felt like I was a cut below Jaedong, but my teammates' trust gave me confidence. I was also helped by the experience of my last win against him.
- We haven't seen you finish a match in a long time. s2: It's probably been a year; last time I won the Ace match, I remember it was also against Jaedong. That kind of feeling came back to me; it's even better than just beating their best player.
- Your team has faith in your ZvZ. s2: They charged me with practicing for the last map, so I felt the trust my team placed in me.
- Your first postseason opponent will be Hite. Fantasy: We have too many memories of losing to Hite, so we will definitely get revenge. We'll practice very hard and get the win. s2: We worked very hard to make the playoffs; after we beat Hite and Hwaseung, we'll run into KT again, so we need to take advantage of this opportunity (T/N cocky!). Not just I, but the whole team will work very hard.
- Last words? Fantasy: Last match, I lost in the 1st set, letting down my coach and sponsor. But this feeling of guilt made me play well today. Recently Coach Oov's neck has been hurting, and he couldn't come to the match today; I hope he can get better soon. s2: First, I'd like to thank the coaches who put their faith in me to act as the ace. During practice, Hyuk hyung taught me about situations just like the last one, so thanks to him I was able to win. Today Hyuk almost won; it's too bad. After I won, he was as happy as if he won, so I'm really thankful, and I hope he plays well too. I'd also like to thank the other teammates who gladly helped me. Finally, yesterday was my mom's birthday; when I called to celebrate with her, I told her I'd make my MSL appearance a present for her. But I didn't advance, so I'm really sorry. Today I won, so I hope you can be understanding of my 1 day late present. When I go on vacation, I'll bring good food home. Mother, I love you.

On the other hand, I loved Fantasy his play, it looked so solid. thanks for the interview.

Wait, so is there a WL finals again? I know there was one last year, but i thought this year there was just going to be the PL finals after round 6.

I hate ZvZ because it's so freaking unstable. Only a player at the MAXIMUM of his micro ability can be stable at it (and the only one who could do this was Jaedong himself)
when you fall at least somewhat behind in it, it turns into the one-battle shit PvP and TvT you can't lose because of losing 1 battle, or more exactly, you can prevent the game from coming down to 1 battle's outcome. In ZvZ you CAN'T.
Conclusion - Z is underpowered even because of ZvZ. That's the whole paradox. LOL.

Meh, would've been so much better to have a JD interview here.

Oh my god, so how's about ZvP ? Zerg is "stable" and Protoss is "unstable" in that MU lol. And in PvP you lose because of losing 1 battle too (unless it's very late in the game, ZvZ is worse because it has no late game lol).

Anyway, oh damn, you beat me to the SKT interview! I just started on it, but luckily I checked and your translation was already there. About that interviewer though- in the DES version's prologue they always do, they said:
During that time, a "T1 Zerg" has rose to the surface again. SK Telecom’s Zerg line who has been unable to shake off their slump, has finally rescued their team from falling into danger, and have been reborn from an ugly duckling to a swan. [T/N: This analogy, words can’t describe how cringeworthy it is… How does DES hire their interviewers? “The more rude you are, the higher you go!”] I think that all of the interviewers are sadists.
I'm stoked that SKT has made it to the playoffs, and maybe I'll have a bit more faith in s2 in the future. He's definitely better than Soo though. And cool, s2's mom's birthday is on the same day as Crazy-Hydra's! Hopefully Fantasy will do better in the playoffs, and that Bisu will get a win soon. Thanks for the translation; you kept much of the flow from the original Korean interview! Nice work!
Btw, important, or not so important news to OZ fans: BackHo is back. Dat's right.

Cool! I'll attribute that to luck and a good Kor->Chn translation and thanks for the DES blurb / pics; I put them in the OP.

Woot S2! I wish Hyuk won though. GJ Fantasy. One step closer to FBB.

Last night was pretty crazy. I've been looking forward to the interview, thanks.

thank you for translating. i'm really appreciate it :D
s2 lately play very well and poor Hyuk. I wish he will win. congrats SKT and thank you fantasy and s2 :D
|
Thanks for the translation.
Times have been tough for SKT over the last two rounds, but maybe, just maybe there are signs there that people are returning to form. We really need BeSt to sort himself out, but I was impressed with both our Zergs yesterday - Hyuk's muta micro was very good, and s2 was so clutch against a rampant JD.
|
thanks!
yes, bisu is on a 4game losing streak, barely noticed..
bout to watch some games now.. XD
|
Oh Jaedong Anyway thanks for translating and congrats to SKT

i hate s2. Oh my god. JAEDONG WHYYYYYY. I wanted to RAK so bad..

SKT zergs are getting into form. During the match, it was very tense, I mean, skt is down to their last chance and jaedong was favored to RAK. Really dangerous there for skt but they won!

Crazy-Hydra and s2 have the same mother?!?!?
woooooot skt!!!!

Why can't I have both??

That was close, that was really close...
Good job, SKT!
