Sorry if this is in wrong forum, I couldn't decide on general/broodwar.
Well anyways, like it says, I'm headed to Korea. Seems like big news when a one of us liquidians goes eh? Thing is I'm alot younger than alot of people here, only 15 T_T.
I'm korean so it'll be more personal experience for me, last time I went was in '98 or so. I've been 5 times before so it's not completely new.
Anyway, what I wanted to ask was [ to the people that have been there recently ] what's it like? I don't really know what to expect. I have little ideas of what I WANT to expect like Starcraft still being a big explosion over there. But I know that era has passed, and people play Lineage 2 and Diablo. I asked a few friends who went last summer and they said in each PC Baang only about 3-5 people play Starcraft now. To this I said oh well, I'll watch it on T.V. [ Btw, anyone know the channels? Lolz. ]
Is there alot of merchandise? I'll be sure to buy a box of that infamous Boxer cereal if I see it.
Just wondering what it's like so I won't be disappointed >=\
Oh yeah, I'm leaving Monday [ Eastern U.S. ] at like 5:00 AM
|
I looked into going, I'd like to visit as well. Then I looked at the cost of flights. 5,000 canadian round trip It would be far more economically feasible for me to go there and attempt to live before giving up and offing myself

WHY IS EVERYBODY GOING TO KOREA EXCEPT ME!!!

Oh yeah, I'm leaving Monday [ Eastern U.S. ] at like 5:00 AM Urm :O I think that would depend on the PC Bang -_-? Last time I asked a friend of mine about that he said '70% starcraft' o_O Was a kinda big pc bang, I think 200 comps -_-~ I'll ask a friend of mine who's a pc bang owner though +_+~
EDIT: He said Lineage II, Lineage and Starcraft are the most popular games in his pc bang O.o
He said that people play lineage a lot but they also play starcraft ("Lineage = Meal, Starcraft = snack").
ZiBek says: right ZiBek says: mostly korean people ZiBek says: play ST ZiBek says: but... not only ST ZiBek says: Someone only play ST ZiBek says: but... a little

Yeah, I'll be staying in Seoul, I think. So most likely a big PC Baang.
|
StarCraft is stil huge in South Korea. Ratings for TV games are still increasing.
|
I'm going this Summer, how much is 5,000 Canadian? My flight costs roughly 1000 USD, don't know if that's equivalent or not.

It's big enough in Korea that I don't think you'll be sorely disappointed. Umm... The channels are: Ongamenet, MBCGame, iTV, GameTV(?). If you are close to the city and not in a suburb, then take the subway to the Coex mall and go to the pc bang there on Friday nights to watch the OSL. That's what I did as much as I could when I was in Seoul in 2001 or '02 (I don't feel like couting my summers ago).
|
That's awesome Klogon I'll try to watch all of them, even though I had a little doubt about the Coex mall thing if you say you went 2 years ago. Anyway, thanks for all the replies people.

Ratings are increasing, but the interst and number of people playing it is decreasing

The thing u can do is go to the coex mall(take the subway, line 2: samsung) and go to the mega studio(right next to the movie complex) and catch some ongamenet games live, or go to the sejoong game world and watch mbcgame games live. currently, i don't see many starcraft items u can really get in korea other than the boxer dvd, or some ogn shirts(but i don't know if they still have them) the pc bangs or the pc rooms i've recently been to didn't have people playing starcraft, but lots of cs and lineage2.

In Korea do they worship fat people? (Much like Progamers)
I know they do in Japan.

Where you going to school, btw?

Hey I'm in Korea! Benzoic-Acid if you're talking to me I don't go to school in Korea, I'm just visiting for the summer because it's summer break in America. I'll see if I can do any of the things you guys suggested, thanks again!
P.s. : I didn't remember exactly how LONG the flight was T_T

eh im in korea too. when i first got here, 10 months ago, i kinda expected bw everywhere; but its really not. then agai i've never been to a huge pc bang thats known for playing bw. the few pc bangs i've been to i've always been the best player there. the owner of the one i used to go to a lot used to give me free hours and free drinks. it was pretty cool when you'd get a small crowd of people behind you watching you play.
|
korea... humm
ive been to korea imd
and like.. whatever you see here, is just a fad or trend that extended from there to here, like bw, korean pop, so on..
life there is actually "smaller", like less homes, more apts.. in seoul everything is fast pace like new york, many shop stands and dont be surprised to see how bad poverty looks like there..
korea is like any other country, has it ups/downs
but its quite beautiful, its not much different from japan actually... except japan has more of those neon lights going.
and since your korean, you'll hvae to know that respecting older people is the most upmost important thing to do.
and btw, no eye contact/staring

pick me up from finland while you're going, you can carry me as a hand luggage

Yeah, I think I expected too much, although I have to say that BW on TV 24/7 = Art + Sex to the nTH degree. I just finished watching that Oov vs GoodFriend game where he pauses in the middle of it. Anyone know the channels? Are they different like in America for different parts of the country? I only found one so far, the ' Gillete ' channel, 37.
Anyway, I had a small hope of doing what you did Basic. Being the best in the Pc Baang and getting free drinks and stuff. Heh it's so awesome when you go in there one day and rape everyone in the room and then you come back the next day and people are worshipping you like a legend.

Yeah, at the local pc bangs me and my brother were usually the best. The little kids would sometimes just watch us play for an hour or so. Also the fact we kept talking to each other in English probably drew more attention to us.
And to be honest, when I went to korea a few years back, I expected certain things, and they met. I wasn't surprised or disappointed at all... it was exactly how I thought it would be. -_- Oh, I told one of my cousins how wierd pro-gaming seemed to my friends in the states, and she couldn't understand. Finally, when I said "Korea is the only place with game channels like this and weekly leagues on TV with crowds" she was like "America doesn't have anything like that of any form? woah..." I guess she just assumed it wasn't as popular here, but she never thought it didn't exist.
|
|
Yeah, I would think the skill level is very high too, not that I doubt you guys' playing ability =^ O^=
Yeah, I think it would've been better for me Starcraft-Wise to come here a few years ago when Starcraft was like what Pokemon used to be. Oh well, I'm not that let down , just a little disappointed, I have yet to enter a PC Baang yet. Klogon if you don't mind could you explain your first PC Baang entry experience? [ Like how you communicated to the manager or something ] Heh, I think it would be cool to hear. And I've been meaning to ask [ Sorry for so many questions ] is the paying system/overall environment of Korean PC Baangs anything like American Internet Cafes?
Heh, another thing I'm kinda worried about is that I don't know how to type Korean T_T
Thanks for the replies.
|
well like i dont speak hangul at all. i would just walk in and point to a computer then say "starcraft" so they would point me in the direction of a computer that had starcraft. then you just sit down and do whatever you want for however long you awnt to. when you're done you just get up and pay the guy. the price ranges from what i've seen mosly is 1000won but i've also seen it as high as 2000 either way its cheap.
|
Well, here's an update, I'm in my 2nd PC Baang, and this one has ALOT more starcraft players. So far the only non starcraft players are the ones just using internet explorer. I'm very impressed ^_^. Thing is I can't tell what map they are playing unfortunately >,<.
Anyway, I love Korea just as I thought I would so far, I'm having a great time. How are your summers going?
Oh yeah almost forgot, first pc Baang I went to was somewhat of a disappointment. Little room with few people and almost no starcraft. Just some game I'd never seen before, it was Ragnarok or Lineage or something.
I'm still afraid to go up to some random people and challenge them, they might kick my ass. Oh well, I should because at least I can speak Korean right? Ehh, we'll see what happens.

it's like a sport just as football is here. everyone watches the big leagues, but really how often do you see those people playing on the streets.

Sorry, I don't have digicam. @_@
Btw, some exciting news for you, I saw someone named ' BlueEyesStory ' and I asked him if he knew a ' SadEyesStory' and he said no but the eyesstory was a clan him and his friends made. Pretty big coincedence eh?
Well, I have yet to go to another pc baang, here in Yeundeunpo [ Seoul ] before I was in the ghetto. Really, Americans have no idea of the word ' Ghetto ' unless they've been where I have. Anyway, from the outside this pc baang I will probably go to today looks bigger and has a big poster of the 3 biggest Blizzard games. BW, Diablo, and WC.
I'll try to keep updating as much as I can.
Nazgul: Yeah, you're right, I'm beginning to understand how big it is, [ WITHIN ] The Korean people.
Edit: On a side note, I saw Boxer play the Duracell amateur team yesterday, His record was 2-2. >=( Boxer, what's going on man.
It's awesome how I get to see all the games before the reports on this site. And then it's awesome to see how accurate the reports are, keep up the good work writers! =^ O^=

Yes, but still. I think it was great for promotional purposes [ Like Starcraft needs more ] and all but Boxer should've won all 4 ^ O^. Okay maybe give one of them to the kids just out of kindness.
I asked my cousin about the merchandise and he says that there was Boxer Cereal at one point, he said it'd be hard to find now. And he said he wasn't sure if they still had the Boxer candy.
T_T
I need that DvD too, if I can find it.

The best Starcraft thing you can do in Korea is going to Mega Studio or Sejung Game World to watch Progame Leagues, I think. Especially, on match days of popular game league like OSL, you would be excited with the mood. Hundreds of audiences, lightings, cameras and screaming commentators...
If you can, sit down behind progamer's seat and watch them play. I was very impressed when I saw their 'micro control' at the first thime.
I know another merchandise about Boxer. It's a mouse with package printed Boxer's photo. And, I saw big posters of team SK T1 at my school. Boxer DVD is good. Funny to watch and blue Boxer T-shirts...Haha. Though it's too big to me, I like its OSL logo.
|
Heh, you got there ahead of me. This'll be the last time I go back home for around 5-6 years, so I'm kinda worried about how I can make the most of it. I'll probably never 'live' there again and only be able to 'visit' from now on.
|
~ Sigh ~
Being here for the first time in 5 years makes me think of what my life would've been like if I had grown up here instead of America.
Edit: Thanks for the advice Dj_Heather, I'll try to do those things. Meanwhile I'm still looking for Boxer Merchandise Rawr~~
|
Does that mean if you crack a SC joke in a school everyone will actually understand?
|
Yeah, most likely. Heh, too bad it can't happen anywhere else @_@
|
haha i know If I say a SC joke here in Australia ppl (who're not my korean friends) will just look at me like i'm an idiot
|
i wonder if korean ppl play more games at home or at baang? i just started playing in Asia server in bnet, dang it's so much fun, i cant believe what i been missing out. beating newbies in West made sc bored as ever now.
|
I think a large percentage probably play at PC baang just because of our culture. If you play alot at home your parents will be like WTF YOU GAY THUG WANNABE GO OUT AND STUDY! Then you get all ASDF~! so most just figure it's better to play at Pc Baang where no one can fuck with you, also you can meet up with friends to play other games after about 8+ hours of SC.

On June 07 2004 23:41 Abang_Zealot wrote: Does that mean if you crack a SC joke in a school everyone will actually understand?
I've read Starcraft used to explain:
1) dating 2) Korean politics 3) school life 4) sports
God knows how many other topics are also explained with Starcraft terminology. Here is an example:
Post: "What should I do about this girl? Blah blah blah..."
Reply: "Rush her." (Meaning, go for it.)
-_-

Hey hey hey, I just got back from 5 hours at pc Baang, it was great. It's more a of a new place so it was pretty cool. It was a little small though, only about 21 comps. Actually it was medium. Depends on how you look at it. Friendly owner. My mom made complete embarassment of me though, she came in [ That's not embarassing part ] and went up to owner and was like, my son is from America, not a student skipping school, please be kind to him.
WTF MATE?!
Anyway, I'm going to Coex this Friday, which just happens to be the night where some starcraft event happens, I forgot, someone said it, Was it Drone? Anyway, I'm going to be there all day basically, dropped off in the morning and be alone [ I guess. ] From what I've heard Mega Studio is next to Coex mall? Is that where I want to go in the afternoon?
Edit: Leg, I watched those 3 reps of you vs Ogogog while eating rahmyun, instant noodles, man that was art.

Its not worth the 1,000 airfare to just go to korea for the pro gaming scenes. You have to travel, check out all of the different cities, natural parks, temple/shrines, restaurants, shopping malls, etc.

Omfg, after I finished computer use at the Xbox place I played some Capcom vs SNK 2 on one of the many many many Xboxes they had set up with a bunch of other games. So anyway, after that There was a desk in the middle of the room and I was like, omfg that looks so similar to the desks that they 1v1 on in VODs.
So I while I'm playing Capcom vs SNK I see out of the corner of my eye that they are setting up two computers, so I'm like ^_^_^_^_____^_^_^_^ Maybe they are setting up Starcraft after all.
I get a really really early seat so I sit behind one of the comps so I am in plain view of the mouse and keyboard. Turns out it's warcraft. Oh well, I'll still take it. Better than watching nothing. The guy who was on the comp in front of me was Kenshin_WeRRa [ Yes I have good eyesight ] and he was on Samsung Kahn. The thing is that I couldn't even watch the match begin because my mom picked me up and we had to go eat with this other family that just so happened to be in Korea on vacation [ From U.S. ] too. @_@
I still have yet to go to a live event, but I have two more Fridays so I look forward to one, and to seeing Lim Yo Hwan in person, even from a distance ^_^
Thanks for reading.
Edit: For future reference, 1000 won is like 89 cents USD or something. Somewhere around that.

Edit: For future reference, 1000 won is like 89 cents USD or something. Somewhere around that.
HaHa, Finally you visit Sejoong Game World. To see Boxer in person, go to the same place next Tuesday evening. Coz MBC Team League will start there, the openning match is SK T1 VS Hanbit Stars.
|
OMFG THANK YOU!!!! Hey will you go there so I can give you big hug and a present? Lolz, really thanks alot ^ O^ I will tell you all how it goes.
How do you go about getting an autograph?
Edit: Do you know exactly what time? I want to get there 30 min to and hour earlier [ Is that early enough ] so I get seat behind Boxer. [ If he plays ]
|
7:00 pm but it will be very difficult taking your seat. I heard some fans waiting 5~10hours to see gamers(not games-_-).
|
Well I might just take the subway there in the morning and stay there all day, so I'll have plenty of time to wait, and kids have to go to school, I don't ^_^. Unless they skip school they can't wait more than three hours or so, as I understand doesn't school end around 4:00-5:00 then Hagwon? Then again adults might go.
Oh well, the bare minimum I want is at least a seat near the front and be able to see boxer, although getting an autograph would be uber amazing.
|
My ansewer is maybe late..anyway, a hour earlier is not early enough. Don't forget how popular Boxer and his team mates are. Get there 2 or 3 hours earlier if you want to sit behind players. If you arrive there around 7, you must stand up.
The matche begins at 7:00 PM (same as other leagues) as I know.

i leave for korea in 8 days, please give me some tips.

Basically every Starcraft live events in OGN or MBCgames are on 7PM (starts 7pm so you must go there earlier to have a seat) on almost everyday. Both OGN and MBCgames live event takes place in COEX Mall in Samsung Station (subway). For OGN live events, you have to go downstairs in the mall to the movie theatre (cineplex or something i forgot the name). You'll see MEGAWEBSTATION besides the theatre. For MBCgames live events, you have to go right of the huge bookstore to a place called SEJOONG CENTER which has a lot of Xbox games that you can try out.
For schedules.. here it is off my head.. might not be accurate.
Monday = MBCgames - Minor Leagues Tuesday = OGN - G-Voice Challenge League, MBC - Tucson Team league Wednesday = OGN - Pro League Thursday = OGN - Warcraft WGM League, MBC - Tucson Team (not sure) Friday = OGN - Starleague (might be saturday now not sure) or Pro league, MBC - Warcraft Prime League (awesome warcraft league! a must see for warcraft fans). Saturday = OGN - Starleague or Pro League. Might change.
It's all starcraft live events except for the ones that i wrote warcraft. Have fun

Today is the day people, today is the day that I get to see Boxer for the first time in real person. Hoping to get autograph ^_^
Too bad I didn't bring my bw cd. I don't know what to get signed. Just going to bring a piece of paper I guess, that is if I can even get a signature.
Edit: I'll be there by around 5:00 or so, that's 2 hours before, I think that's cutting it a little close but that's the earliest I can be there. T_T

Get ready to be thirsty. You're going to find out all the drinks are in smaller quantities over here. Also, you might need to get used to metric system because obviously that's what they use here, I'm not saying study it or anything, but just know that it's what they use, not standard. Something to get used to.
Bring American Food! I imagine you'll be craving it because well, you're white [ No offense ] and that's your main type of food. Don't order pizza here, it tastes NOTHING like American fast delivery pizza, if you're going to order something order the chicken, it's fucking 1337.
Watch TV!!!! You will love the gaming television channels! It's VODs in high quality all the time. I would say about 85% of the time it's Starcraft related stuff. Also, commercials in general are sexy in Korea.
That's all I can think of right now.

Tell us of the Boxer trip when it happens >_<!

True, even though I'm Korean, I need a mix of western and Korean food every 4 days. I can't stand just eating one or the other for 4 days in a row, thank god for burger king. :o The drinks there are smaller, but I love the glass bottled cokes you can get. They just taste so much better than cans or plastic bottles, and glass bottles are really hard to find in the states. The pizza REALLY sucks. -_- Get some jjajjangmyun instead, much better for delivery.

GL Rekrul . 1 more question . Are koreans gilr as pretty as they were in films and commercials ? Some of my friends go to WCG last year said that they are ugly like hell

STFU PLZ GG NO RE KTHX!
I GOT BOXER'S AUTOGRAPH!!!!!!
It's on a ghetto ass piece of paper but I got it! He is really good at signing too, he put the date and asked my name and put To: Kang Chul Min which is my Korean name. Omfg, so much sex. His ID and his real name.
I shook his hand AND HE USED MY PEN, I'M NEVER USING THIS PEN AGAIN.
Omfg, he raped Junwi and Silent_control after he signed my paper too. Then lost to some newbie I've never even heard of before. Sunny or something like that.
Oh well, my life is better because I got a sign! I couldn't get anyone elses though like Oov's or Rainbows or Kingdom's because the staff there was like wtf get off the stage. It was kind of embarassing cuz people were like ' Wtf why is that kid running up there already '
I told Boxer I'm from america and I came here to see you play, please sign this. I don't think he heard it all though as it is noisy and I said it kinda softly. Oh well he still signed. He is a really cool guy in real person like I imagined.
Deadcat: Yeah, they are ugly as hell. Seems like the only pretty ones are the famous actors/singers/those on tv. The ones you see in the street are 95% Ugly as fuck. Trust me, the average prettiness is much higher in U.S. [ If you've been there ] but the hotter girls here are 5x hotter than the hot girl in U.S. Maybe it's because I'm Korean.
Anyway, I'm so happy, am I first person on TL.net to get Boxer sign?!?!? ^_^_^_^

You must be joking when you said "I only see ugly girls in the street".
If you think the korean actresses are hot then you can't say something like that cause there are SO MANY ppl in the street that are at celebrity level or maybe even better. Just go anywhere big like coex or myungdong or apgujungdong err... I can't believe you said that.
When I first came to korea i was like o_O wtf pretty gals everywhere.. drool...
|
~ Shrug ~ Maybe it's just because I've been in the wrong places. I've only been to Coex twice and Myungdong once since I've been here. But basically the other times I've been in shigol. [ Slums in English ]
Maybe girls are just ugly there. Idk, I lived in America the majority of my life so therefore the way I see it the average American girl is much hotter than the average Korean girl that I've seen thus far.
And as for when you first came to Korea, it was probably culture shock. It happened to my cousin too. He lived in Korea all his life and was born there, when he came 2 years ago he was like OMFG ASDF at like every girl he saw and then now he's like, wtf everyone is ugly.

shigol means countryside or boonies. ^^
The average Korean woman takes a lot more time and care in trying to look beautiful than an American woman. You probably just think Korean women aren't so hot cause your taste in women is most likely American. Then again, most of my American friends stare and drool at even average looking Korean girls... maybe it's just that they have Yellow Fever and you don't? lol

Yeah I agree that average Korean woman takes like 10x more time to look pretty than average American woman. I was talking about teens or early 20's since that's what I thought the average age of the users here were. Idk, from what I've seen it just seems like up till now average American girls are prettier than Korean. That may change.

ok so who is hyori ? >

from FINKL anyway i think korean girls are definitely the best looking people on this earth in general, but they're also very superficial. They spend so much time trying to look like celebrities, it's kinda sad. Then again, this helps them look better =/ The average korean girl is pretty good looking, but you'll find a bunch of nerds too =]. I guess i'm just not into the korean personality type that 99% of the girls seem to fit into...
|
And I heard a rumour that all most Korean celebrities and a lot of korean girls did A LOT of plastic surgery . That why they are very pretty as you've seen them on the screen > . Otherwise , they look fucking ugly Is this true ? The funny thing is when I tell any Vietnamese girl that Korean look prettier than them , they always tell me like that :D I think they are jealous LOL
|
|
hey shes look like a stripper > but she owned me T_T

deadcat..it is true. If you noticed, in Korea all the girls look the same nowadays. Too many girls are doing plastic surgery. Actresses are like more than 50% of actresses did plastic surgery. If you go to appujungdong, most girls have done plastic surgery. It is sad, but true. Hell ya! my friend's girlfriend did plastic surgery 2 month ago..and now she is like..omgwtfbbq? Hyori...so much plastic surgery -_-;;;

Freezeternal your wrong about saying hyori had a plastic surgery and saying that all koreans know that. In fact all koreans know that she didn't have surgery.
You don't know anything dude. Even I know that Hyori is a natural one and there are tons of her pics of her early school days. They look exact same as right now but more of a cute style then sexy style (since it was her early days).
Don't talk shit if you don't know anything. BTW there are a lot of ppl who had a plastic surgery in general but a lot of famous celebrities right now in korea didn't have a plastic surgery. or if they did it was only like 1 place small surgery. I've seen many before and after photos of current celebrities and i can see there are A LOT of natural ones. Some cases it's mostly they do makeups + lost some fat on their face. That makes a huge difference.

Hyori probably had plastic surgery. Dunno exactly which parts of her body she decided to modify (at least her breasts that's for sure).

Haha, yes you too ^_^
[ Freez owned me PvT on LT ]
God damn I hate that MU.
About Hyori: ~ Shrug ~ I still say she didn't have any plastic surgery. Just because she looks perfect doesn't mean she had plastic surgery. Plus no one has given any news articles or other evidence that she did so she is still natural.
Edit: Btw what is ' Teok Ssun ' I understood everything else.

I used to have before and after photos of her... Before being from when she debuted with FINKL, and after being her recent photos. Her breasts have gotten noticeably bigger.

Mmmm, I was told Boxer DvD can be found in * Dum dum dum * DVD STORES!
There's alot around here so I will try and get it. Plus it's relatively cheap from what I hear.
I only wish I had that DVD when I met Boxer in person so he could sign it T_T

Ooo oo and another plus to my Korea experience, I'm headed to Lotte World in about 2 hours. Last time I went I was a little kid and I was scared to ride Viking. Lolz. Oh well, I'm sure it'll * feel * alot smaller this time.
Man, I wish you're all having fun summer too, I know I am. [ If it's summer where you are/or you are on vacation ]

All I did at lotte world is ride the most extreme rides over and over. I don't think high schoolers and middle schoolers are out of school yet, yes? That means shorter lines, I think. :o
|
Yeah, I went but I didn't ride anything. Partly because I went with my mom, her friend, and her daughter who is a few months older than me and of course the mother's didn't want to ride and Lotte world is insanely expensive. It wasn't too bad for me considering I'd been to Everland [ Earlier in this thread ] and I'd ridden all the extreme rides thee alot so no disappointments.
Instead we ate there and shopped. [ Yay ]
Then after shopping we met up with my mom's friend's husband and son and ate dinner. Kal bi! =^ O^=
I went to a couple DvD stores today and they didn't have Boxer DvD @_@. I will still get one!!!

Err, anyone who thinks Lee Hyo-Ri is hot loves his plastic.
Go take a look at one of her high school pictures and yeah.
There are heaps of stars that are ten times better looking.
Ttuk seon = Chin line, usually a good indication of whether someone's had plastic surgery or not.

omfg how kool is this....i read all this topic...^^;;;

To any koreans who know progamer schedules:
Are there any live events going on tomorrow? If so where? It doesn't matter what game. [ Tuesday here in Korea ] Will anything be happening at Coex. It just so happens that I will be there almost all day again.
Thanks in advance.

That's what I was about to say. Challange League is on tuesdays! :D
|
I'm assuming it starts at 7? Sejoong game world or somewhere else? [ Sorry didn't have time to read much of the link ]
Edit: Maybe I can get autograph from Boxer again, this time on a real good piece of paper, not a folded piece of crap. However it was really hard to get it, I almost couldn't. Do the players leave immediately after the match or do they give some time to sign stuff?
|
Ah, damn too late, I'm leaving right now. I guess it's at 7:00 and at Sejoong >=(
|
MURICA15980 Posts
Just checked OGN's site, yup it is at 7.
|
No~~~~ not sejoong!! All OGN leagues are broadcasted at Megaweb Studio. -_-;; I hope you can get to there. I heard megaweb studio is really hard to find.

Megaweb Studio is easy to find :o
|
Lolz, with my gosu reflexes from Broodwar and my quick thinking, I went back a few pages, and a kind person [ I forgot their ID right now ] in the thread listed all the schedules. Thank you to them, I'll look up your ID after this post. Anyway, RIGHT before I left I read it and I went to the right place.
I'LL BE IN THE VOD OF BOXER VS NAL_ROCK!!!!!!!!!! I'm in second row from the very front on the left side, wearing Green shirt. You can tell it's me because I look at camera and give a ' V ' or victory sign.
I look giddy too, I mean you would too if you were in same situation, the play that Boxer did to recover from his situation was so sex+art.
Am I only person in TL.net to be on a Vod ?!?!? [ In the audience ]
I couldn't get signature or picture WITH boxer because he came left REALLY fast. I got plenty of pictures of him while playing though.
Thanks.
Edit: Sorry I couldn't scream TEAMLIQUID or something like that. It's just I was already embarassed cuz my mom was shitting herself because I'd have to go home alone on subway for first time after the event.
|

I walked into that PS2 room first because I thought it was like Sejoon game world where they had comps set up in the middle of all the stuff.
The door to Megaweb Studio is pretty small I must admit.

Make a HUGE banner saying 'Teamliquid is 1337' and hold it up during a televised match :D That'll guarantee at least one camereman to point your way ^__^

Omfg why didn't I think of that before.

I may be going to Korea in the end of the year. Probably not do much sc but. More sight-seeing with friends and skiing. WHEEE

Yeah I think it's near the end of the game, maybe a little after. So I MIGHT not show up [ If VOD cuts it off ]. But I'm not sure, all I remember is the camera guy shooting me and me seeing myself on the big screen.

It's on Emlary's page Constant VOD update thread. Boxer vs Nal_Rock. I'm also on another VOD, I forgot which one though, I was too excited while watching. I think it was first match. Oversky vs Sunny or something.
Btw, I watched Shrek 2 today. Korean movie theater experience is alot different from American movie theaters >,<

Holy shit. It's friday!!! That means it's Gillette OSL quarter finals! I wonder if I should go see it? All I know is it's at 7. It's 12:20 here right now. Is it possible for me to go see it? I mean people will probably be overcrowding the hell out of that place 3-4 hours beforehand.
Can any koreans give me advice?

I still need someone to tell me where the hell it is! Is it megastudio next to cineplex like you said Emlary?!? How early do I need to go! It's 1:31 here right now and I can leave pretty much by at least 2:00 and it takes an hour or so to get there, so earliest I can arrive at Coex is like 3:00-3:30 if the thing is at Coex. Plz respond!!!
|
Abyss, you best have the teamliquid sign!!
|
If I go, I swear to god I will have it. It'll be on a piece of paper in big black bold letters because I don't have any posterboard but rest assured, if camera is on me I'll have that shit on my lap and have it ready to show the entire nation of Korea! Muhahahaha

Yeah that'll be cool if I could go see you guys play. Maybe not though because I might have to go see family again before I leave for Korea which is unfortunately in countryside. Sorry if I can't go man.
|
Rek do you mind if I make a new thread about the Gillette OSL thing? I really want to know where it's at.
|
T_T
I have been GG'd.
I got there at 3:15, and there was already a long ass line. Mind you this starts at 7:00. I just ate at Popeyes and came back home.
Oh well, at least I can watch it on TV. And since I already got Boxer's signature, and the dvd [ Btw I ordered that online, cheap as hell here, it was only like $23 US ] which completes my goals starcraft-wise here in Korea. All that's left is to maybe see Rek and Assem kick some ass. ^^;

Well everyone, I leave on Tuesday early morning. It's Sunday right now. Well, all I can say about my experiences here the past month is that it was fucking awesome. I'm glad I got to share it with you, and alot of you are coming to Korea soon so I hope I gave you some idea as how to Starcraft still lives on, I still have 2 months or so of summer vacation left when I get home, and although it'll be pretty difficult I only wish that it'll be as great as my time in Korea here has been.
I go home with Boxer's autograph and DvD, I go home as a better sc player, and most importantly I come home with great memories and experiences. I probably won't see this part of my family for many year[s] so it was great to see them.
Home, here I come!
