I guess if the T did that, than he will only have one marine to play with and that's it. The protoss could just micro his probe to avoid it and it'll end up in a stalemate.

Marines also doesn't recover shields like probes do.

Haha why would he send the probe there in the first place. Probes are imba but they're not very good vs SCVs when they're trapped withing like 1 tile...

Ok, I am pretty sure a probe can never beat a marine. Not even one on hold position. I mean when the probe reaches the marine it will take 3 shots even if marine not moving at all. A marine does more damage and attacks faster. So lets say you attack the marine once and run away(taking the minimum damage in an egagement), 3 shots to and 3 shots out. You are gonna be left with 5 or 6, maybe 7 hp considering shield regen. The marine is going to have 35 hp. So you get away and recharge shields to max. Leaving you with 27points(20 shields). Next time to attack him he is gonna dish 18 dmg again before you hit him.

This is all assuming someone just leaves a marine and does not micro it at all.

Maybe I am being too serious, but there is no realistic way that a probe will kill a marine, unupgraded.
