It turns out Mind wasn't up to the task (yet!). The choices in the following poll are the top 10 ranked players by ELO in the TvT matchup, below Flash. Of course, it could be someone else. In particular, there wasn't room to include all players qualified for MSL or OSL (this includes for example Hwasin) with Flash.
Looking just at the calendar, Leta and Iris seem most likely to face Flash in the near future. Both players have shown that they can beat Flash, at least with strategic play and/or with some help from Flash's rally points. Sea also looks really strong in TvT recently, and beat Flash straight up the last time they played (fairly recently), although it wasn't in a game that counted.
Poll: Who will end Flash's TvT streak? (Vote): fantasy (Vote): sKyHigh (Vote): Light (Vote): Leta (Vote): fOrGG (Vote): Mind (Vote): Sea (Vote): Iris (Vote): go.go (Vote): firebathero (Vote): Someone else (Vote): No one -- Flash will never lose a TvT again

It's Light. Two weeks later, there'll be like 5 people who actually remember that game, no matter how good it is. Light is like the only player who could go 70% in Proleague without anyone noticing; it's sad, really(I like Light!)
Flash will lose eventually though, probably to one of the people on this list with some sort of ridiculous cheese.
My choice would be STX's TvT specialist Last, sometime in the next round of PL - so I picked "other". Just a gut feeling, no idea why and absolutely nothing to back me up.
It'll end when he starts doing greedy builds again.
Personally I think it'll be Upmagic or FBH. FBH is awful but he, for some reason, does pretty well against Flash. Upmagic is good at TvT but he's simply insane.
He will never lose a TvT again. That's the feeling I get after watching his recent games; it doesn't really matter if he is behind in the early game, he wins in the end anyway. To be realistic though, he will of course lose eventually. Fantasy failed miserably, Skyhigh's TvT has looked pathetic lately, Leta is slumping... I would have to say Sea is the hottest candidate right now.
I Just checked out Flash's TvT TLPD, only the guy I mentioned above + fOrGG have winning records against Flash in TvT. That just makes realize how fucking awesome ForGG was back then, 4-2 vs Flash, 5-0 vs Bisu, and 3-0 vs Jaedong, too bad he fell so far

Uhh... Flash has a winning record against both Sea and Fantasy. And the only way Fantasy can beat Flash is by proxy rax vs 14 CC.

Flash is 2-1 against Sea, and the loss is from the rather unimportant 09 Ultimate PL.
Flash is 5-2 against fantasy.
Still, I've got to cast my vote for Sea, as well. I think he has the best chance, followed closely by FBH and Light.
For a visual representation of how ridiculously dominant Flash's TvT is right now, look at the vT column of this from TLPD:
It's completely ridiculous, nobody is within 100 points of him. There is no match in the game right now as scary as being a Terran who has to face Flash.
On November 25 2009 00:58 emucxg wrote: Nobody meantion Canata??
Because of Canata's slow, solid style but unlike Sea not based upon excessive turtling Canata has always been considered a square-rooted Flash.
My vote went for SkyHigh thinking of a straight-up game, otherwise i think a trademarked Iris 2-fact or a Light/UpMaGiC hidden cc have a chance against the ultimate weapon (not like i'd LB on them against flash tho )
the title of this thread spoiled the results of this game for me... there'd be no point in making a thread w/ that title if mind had already answered the question could someone change the title to something more ambiguous like "Flash TvT streak ?
It's almost impossible to grab a TvT win from Flash in a straight up manner at the moment. Even in his other two weaker match-ups, he seems quite invincible (maaaaaaybe not in TvP when he gets to play against top tier Protoss). As long as he keeps this momentum, beating Flash in TvT is, without any doubt, no-can-do. Only when Flash starts to drop games (not a game) in the other two MUs, which kind of ends his winning momentum and strikes a blow into his confidence, the chance of him dropping a TvT will be higher.
But if I have to pick a Terran that will end Flash's streak, I will go with good cheesers (i know its not a word, but it is now). So maybe Fantasy (with good strategy developed by King of Cheese).
On November 25 2009 01:17 .risingdragoon wrote: And why da hell is forgg a choice? they're on the same team.
Both are in the MSL (if not, I would've left him out). If they meet there, BoX + same team even makes a win more likely.
And I agree with those who say it's too bad UpMaGiC isn't included. But you should first of all blame him for playing too poorly to make the ELO top 11 He's definitely one of the players whom I'd give a decent chance against Flash.
The only person who can break Flash's TvT streak is Flash. He is plain better than every other terran, especially in TvT, and him losing will be a matter of him not living up to his standards. It can be anyone on this list, but none of them will be able to take a game from him in his current form without Flash handing it over -- which is very possible, especially in Starleagues.
Boxer would be a cool bet. Though Flash was the cheesing kid at the start, so he probably knows best how to defend against his own (former) strategies from his own race.
This is such a tough selection. The only way I can see flash losing a tvt is if he somehow gets overworked, or loses focus/inspiration to dominate and gets himself in a mini-slump again. Otherwise, maybe someone will get really lucky with a build order...but Flash is jaedong-like in his mirror matchup lately. Maybe Fantasy? Maybe Leta/2portwrath? I doubt it though.

FBH has been a disappointment lately.
Doesn't matter, he brings his A-game against Flash. Watch their recent encounters if you haven't; great games where he pushes Flash to the limit. Especially the game on Medusa.
I can't believe so many people are saying Canata. Canata USED TO be known for his TvT (and indeed even beat Flash right after his GSI/OSL wins) but if you watch his TvT style it's like exactly Flash's style only waaaaaaaaaaay worse in every way.
If you're going to beat Flash, you're going to have to do it by doing something differently from him, not being a 25% as good copy of him.
Another question I'd like to ask is; Is Flash going to lose before or after getting the highest ELO peak? If he can win the game that he's probably going to play against a hite player then win his msl group and get the highest ELO.

Depends...if he faces type-b first, he has a good chance of shooting past Bisu and JD and grabbing #1 ELO peak. If he faces Stork first, well...he has a not so good chance. Might still push past JD depending on who his hite opponent is, though.

Sea, yes. Fantasy, no.
I agree here. Fantasy is a great Terran, but his strength lies in his TvP, and his ability to prepare builds/strategies for single matches. The problem there is that FlaSh is Terran, and is more flexible then other Terrans today, able to deal with what fantasy throws at him, and dominate him.
Flash/Kespa doesn't use TLPD. As far as they're concerned, his current streak is 7.
Also, Arnc/Jaedong are very capable. I'd never count Calm out, and while Effort does seem jinx'd against Flash lately, he's proven he can beat him, in an ace match no less.
If Fantasy faces against Flash in the OSL with a Bo3 or Bo5, Fantasy should be able to take at least one game, considering that Fantasy tend to using creative strategies. As for whether any Terran will ever be able to win against Flash in a BoX series, as of right now, I'd say no. No Terran can take on Flash in a BoX series.
I can definitely see Upmagic doing some sort of crazy cheese strategy and take a game off Flash in the proleague.
i've been thinking about this for a while... and i don't know whether you guys would agree with me, but flash really started owning up TvT when forGG came to the KT house.

I would credit at least some of flash's TvT success to forGG

I think practicing with ForGG and Fantasy and Leta really helped him adjust to a variety of TvT styles and close any remaining holes in his now arguably perfect TvT game.
Flash crushed him last time and I think that was round 1 of this PL round, meaning that since Really isn't in any leagues, The next time they have a chance to meet will be LATE in round 2.
Flash's last counted TvT loss was almost 7 months ago btw :O This might be the longest winstreak (timewise) in a single matchup ever? let's see if he can make it a year

Congratulations to the 29 people who voted for "someone else"
They were absolutely correct. Someone else broke Flash's TvT streak.
Really really did it. (no pun intended)
And the dude did it with excellent play, and the guy didn't even do a ceremony after breaking Ultimate Weapon's streak. Estro simply packed up their gears and left the building. Talk about no personality.
In Flash's defense, as somebody else already mentioned, he never played TvT on Match Point, EVER, in a televised match. He also has TvZ and TvP to practice for. The starleagues obviously mean more than a single proleague match.
And now I am gonna jump to the OSL Final thread and start spamming why Movie would win the OSL.

Since Flash didn't lose "straight up". In this case, he had some legitimate excuses as to why he performed poorly tonight. It's not as if Really and Flash played an epic match during which Really clearly outmacro, outmicro, out-starsensed Flash.
Flash simply lost due to circumstance and the fact that Really is a really good player.
FBH, Fantasy and Sea probably could have been able to take a game off Flash tonight as well on that map.

I don't know that any top TvT player could've won. Flash didn't do anything wrong, just that Really was insane with his drops, a level we haven't seen from many top TvT players recently.

that was a starleague final. todays game was a single proleague match, and its not like KT will care too much, given their massive lead in the PL rankings...
Maybe if Really BBSed, then people would hate him. But by playing really well, there's nothing to hate. The streak had to end sometimes, and this was a relatively painless way for it to go, seeing how most records had been broken already.

Then why do you bloody like Jaedong. He got even more of the stuff Flash is getting right now. Or does your like for a player jump up and down depending how his fanboys react, which might I add is an utterly stupid reason.
This sort of hate is like Abyzou's hate for Flash where he claims Flash's lack of heart and macrostyle is part of the reason pro Starcraft is on the decline. Then he claims he lost sleep because Flash beat Best in the MSL, a player who pretty much can't do anything but X base arbiter builds and macro. Simply turning a blind eye and trying to make your hate sound reasonable is simply immature.
(Flash will never slump. If he thinks like he does in his interviews, he won't slump like Savior because the only way he'll suck is when people just play a whole ton better than him. And when people play a whole lot better than you, you're not slumping, you just suck compared to everyone else.)

22-1. . . man . . .
All the talk about winning streak makes you lose sight of the fact that Flash is in a league of his own.
22-1 is ridiculous. Just because it isn't perfect doesn't mean that it's not good enough. Every single one of Flash's matchups are way above 65%, which is more than enough to be considered "good". And to be fair, his one loss was against Really, who's a ridiculously good macro Terran whose play on Match Point was just superb.
