As many of you may have read in the MSL Group Selection thread, the sponsor is NATE, a HUGE web portal in Korea owned by SK Communications (I guess you could say NATE is the 'Google' of Korea, but it rivals with Naver, which is owned by NHN).
NATE last sponsored an OSL which is infamously known as the league that no one cared about (mainly thanks to South Korea's run in the FIFA World Cup and all of the stars being eliminated in the group stage).
So, the tentative date of 19th of November is officially set as the group selection.
To make up for the lost time, MBC are holding a Prematch tournament featuring MSL 'Royal Roaders'. Spread over this Thursday and Saturday, the exhibition matches (presumably to get viewers off OGN from WCG) will have the nine royal roaders duke it out in some games.
The maps will be the same as the Survivor Tournament just passed, so Byzantium 3, Destination and Heartbreak Ridge. The lowest two KeSPA ranked players (in this case, Stats and Crazy-Hydra) will play in an extra elimination match to see who advances to the last eight.
The players will be;
 Saint, FireFist,  Stats, BeSt, GuemChi, Crazy-Hydra, Shine, hyvaa and  Bogus.
Elimination Match - Stats vs Crazy-Hydra
Round of 8 - Shine vs Saint
hyvaa vs Stats/Crazy-Hydra
FireFist vs GuemChi
Bogus vs BeSt
12th of November 18:30 KST
Semi Final - Winner of Game 1 vs Winner of Game 2
Winner of Game 3 vs Winner of Game 4
3rd/4th Place Game - Loser of Semi Final 1 vs Loser of Semi Final 2
Final - Winner of Semi Final 1 vs Winner of Semi Final 2 (Best of 3)
14th of November 15:00 KST

Awesome.
Just one thing. Right now we have 8 terrans, 16 zergs, 8 protosses qualified for the MSL. Instead of this prematch, they should do a "gardening round" with just the zergs to weed out the bottom 8 of them before the tournament starts.

Prematch is worthless. I mean, there is no need to compensate for nothing. They got it late cause they had trouble finding a sponsor. Big deal. Just move things quickly and move on. No need to torture us with some meaningless show off. We had enough this summer.

All this pre-match stuff is really Fox's 'So You Think You Can Dance' to ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars'. OGN has WCG exclusively, so they wanted to put up something that can hopefully compete. Whatever. More starcraft is never a bad thing.

I thought Royal Roaders were players that had never been in the MSL before...I could of sworn some of these guys have been in the MSL before...oh well whatever GO BEST!
-Edit: Right I just looked it up so I guess they should say MSL Royal Roaders because like I thought Royal Roaders is a term to a player winning the first OSL they play in.

The Nate MSL is like a starleague getting sponsered by Google or Yahoo. The Avalon MSL is like a starleague sponsered by Heroes Of Newerth. Clearly, a sponsorship by a web portal makes starcraft looks more mainstream.

So I don't get it. First they can't find a sponsor at all, then all of a sudden they're sponsored by a huge web portal? If being sponsored by something like Nate is way more prestigious than being sponsored by Avalon or something, what happened that let them all of a sudden get this huge sponsor?

Does this tourny affect a player's ratings? If it doesn't, I would personally just bomb the tournament and make people think I suck so they won't practice as hard for me.

They probably had to take some time to try and get NATE to sponsor the MSL. Maybe they didn't have trouble finding a sponsor, but they just really wanted to get something bigger than usual. Seeing as their last few sponsors have bombed, I think they might have wanted something bigger than usual? I don't think a big web portal would just randomly out of the blue sponsor the tournament. The negotiations might have been the reason for the long wait.
Just my two cents. Just excited to see the MSL rolling. Hoping for a fun Selection Show.
