(P)BeSt[HyO]: "I won thanks to my good luck."

-Your win in set one set the stage for your team's victory
▲Our team had a good feeling about today, so initially, I wasn't worried at all. However, as the game started, I worried a little and that led to a mistake in my control, but I still won. I didn't feel that pressured though because our lineup is strong. Even if I lost, we would probably have still won.

-Your corsairs played a big role.
▲It felt really good to kill those overlords. I was more successful than I ever was during my practice sessions. I think that my opponent lost more overlords than he should have because he was nervous, but I was still sad when my corsairs died to his mutalisk and scourge.

-You started out with a 2gate zealot rush build.
▲I was going to play based on what happened; if they were successful, then I was just going to play off that. However, it turned out even better than I expected. He was probably much more nervous than I was and it showed in his play. I think that even without my skill, I won with luck.

-You've been on the lineup in every match of the season.
▲Although I wasn't in the first match, I have been in every other one. I admit that I'm not as good as Bisu and my match results haven't been that good lately. However, the coaching staff has been putting their faith in my skills and have been sending me out often. Instead of feeling burdened, I feel that I should earn this honor. You won't get sent out if you make little mistakes, but since they keep sending me out, I am working even harder to make sure that I deserve their trust.

-Your team will play against KT in a few days.
▲Normally, either the game results aren't so good or we grapple with one another, but I think both will be good, it will be a big match. Although I don't know if I will come out on the lineup or not, since our opponents are #1 at the moment, I really want to face them and I will practice for our games.

-What do you do lately with your time?
▲I only practice. I sleep at 3 and wake up at 9. Our entire team lives like that so if I go to sleep early by myself, it would be a little awkward (laughs).

-Do you have any last words?
▲+ Show Spoiler +
I saw that 815 hyung won just now.
I felt like he's been having some trouble lately, but since he won, I'm very happy. We've known each other since we were amateurs in the same guild together six years ago. I said that if we both win today, we should go eat something delicious together, I really wanted to go. Also, when I was practicing, there were a lot of things about outsider that I didn't know; he gave me a lot of advice about how I should play. I'm really thankful for all he did.

(Z)Hyuk: "I am getting more and more confident in my ZvZ."

-How do you feel about winning set 2?
▲When I was getting ready, there was something uncomfortable about it, but the result was good. Although it wasn't like this when I was preparing for Jaedong, for some reason, it was very uncomfortable today. I'm not sure why.

-You just dominated Jaedong and Effort.
▲I've always been confident in my ZvZ, but with the improvements in my mutalisk control, I am doing even better. I feel like I never lose if it gets to an air battle. As my televised play shows the same results as my practice play, I feel that I can play with more resolution.

-Is there a reason that your mutalisk control improved so much?
▲I just practiced a lot. Although it feels that I might have realized something, I'm not sure what the underlying cause is. All of a sudden, I gained confidence and I've been doing well after that.

-The term t1 zerg has pretty much disappeared
▲That kind of talk always comes out, but I don't like it at all. Instead of t1 zergs, I've been hearing talk about zergs on other teams. Since the stress from hearing all this kind of talk is really burdensome, I really hope to get rid of the name t1 zerg.

-Your next match is against KT, how will you prepare?
▲Although I don't know if I will be sent or not, I think that it's better if the games start earlier. That's why it feels like a shame that there's such a long time before our series.

-Who would you like to face on KT?
▲There isn't any specific player that I want to go up against. Rather than concentrating on who my opponent is, I concentrate on how the game is played out. I feel that if I practice hard, it will turn out well.

-Do you have any last words?
▲I wanted to thank n.die_soo for helping me get ready for this match.

(P)Bisu: "I'm happy about earning all these victory marks."

-You finished off your team's sweep of CJ
▲It's a relief that I was able to finish it off cleanly and I'm happy about winning all these victory marks. I feel that my game was a fitting end to the series and I will work towards the same result for next time.

-You chose a strategical build.
▲Last time, in the MBC Heros game, I saw a similar build being used and tried it out in practice. Sometimes, it was good and sometimes it wasn't. The result was always a micromanagement battle and since my control was good, I was able to win. My opponent must have not seen my proxy 2 gateways, since he was very slow about adding his second gate. Although I had some errors in my micromanagement, my gateways warped in faster and my zealot count was higher, so it didn't matter that much.

-It seems that we are seeing you use strategical builds a lot lately.
▲I am pretty busy lately, so I don't have the time to practice a macromanagement-based game (laughs). I'm just kidding, it's just something that I tried out. I felt that I shouldn't just play an resource-based game, but I should try this and that. I tried these builds out and it seems that they worked out pretty well.

-What was your win percentage while practicing for these games?
▲At first, I won almost all the time, but as my opponents got used to it and prepared successful countermeasures, I got a bit worried about whether or not I should use this build.

-What do you think about lately?
▲We don't have games for about a week now. Although I don't know why, it's a bit of a shame. Since the IEF is just an event, I won't prepare that much for it. I will just go in with my basics and I guess I'll prepare a little bit for that WCG-like thing.

-Are you confident for the IEF?
▲Last time, I just went in without any previous thought, but it was still okay (laughs). Rather than arrogance, it's just that I have faith in my fundamentals, so even without any preparation, I'm sure that I can deal with it. This is because there is a gap in the skill level between me and the chinese players. If I lose like this, I guess it will be due to chance but my confidence level is about the same as the level of skill difference (laughs).

-Do you have any thoughts about the competition for total wins?
▲It's okay if I don't get put in the lineup now. There are many chances for victory; even if I am sent out, it's not a guaranteed win anyway (laughs). I don't think that the competition for total wins is that important anyway.

-It seems that your hair gets into the way of your eyesight, do you have any thoughts about changing your hairstyle?
▲If I change my hairstyle, won't I have to change its length? Although I want to try out a bunch of difference styles, since I'm not receiving the treatment that a movie star or television star gets, nor do I have a coordinator, so I think it's unnecessary. I guess it would be touching up a plain face, so I'm a little interested, but I don't want to put it into practice.

-Do you have any last words?
▲During my practice for the strategy-based play I used today, two players worked hard in helping me. I wanted to say thanks to them and that I will buy them something delicious. I will buy them whatever they want to eat. It's pretty sure I know what they want so I guess it should be okay (laughs).

At one o'clock on the 28th, at the Loox hero center. Bisu was the 3rd set in a five set match. He faced Jangyoonchul(cj) and finished the set. He racked up 4 wins.

Your team won with all wins:
Bisu: I'm glad I could finish it. I like how I added to SKT's wins. I'm glad I could continue the 2:0. I'll continue to show this strength in the next match.

You choose a (Julryak) strategic build:
Bisu: I watched this game during the MBC game. I tried it out, but it worked sometimes and didn't work other times. It was a matter of micro, but I didn't do so well. It still played out ok. I'm not sure if my opponent didn't see my second gate or he was just slow. Victory was due to my numerous zealots that outnumbered his.

You're using many strategic builds (Julryak juk in) lately:
Bisu: I don't have time to practice for Macro games because I'm busy. (Laughs) I just kid, but I just want to try out the strategic build this time. It worked out well.

How was your record with this build in practice:
The first couple times it was easy, but as my practice partner started to adapt, I lost, and I wondered if this was a viable build.

What occupies your mind lately:
Bisu: We don't even get to play once a week anymore. I'm excited about the event at IEF, and I'll trust my basic skills. I might practice for that WCG.

Are you confident about IEF:
Bisu: The last time I went, I didn't give it a thought, but it went well. It wasn't only confidence, but my basic skill that pulled me through. I feel like the last IEF came at a good time. There's a gap between the Chinese players and myself. It's nothing to worry about and as long as the gap exists I need not worry. (Laughs)

Do you want to go without a loss?
Bisu: I'm not even sure if I want to goto IEF. There's many tournaments, and it's not like I'm guaranteed to win. (Laughs) I don't think every match is that important.

Your hair seems to be getting in your eyes, do you consider changing your style?
Bisu: If I change my hair, won't I have to change my path? I can play a lot of styles so a haircut might be pushing it. It's complicated and I do think about my hair, but it's too much work to make a new image, I'm interested, but not worrying about it currently.

Your last words?
Bisu: Due to my strategic play, two pros at the house gave me some grief. I want to thank them, and I promise to buy them some great food. Want they want is limited, so I think it'll be ok. (Laughs)

Comments, suggestions and corrections are welcome and probably necessary.

Go Hyuk!

Also I bet Bisu wasn't really kidding when he said he didn't want to spend time practicing for a macrogame lol.

Nice to see so much support for l10f... Actually, he doesn't seem to translate much anymore. Oh well, good job on the interview.

EDIT: Anyone else find it impressive that T1 players go to bed at 3?

Thanks for the translation!

I'm glad BeSt is keeping a positive attitude.

I'm going to look forward to Hyuk crushing Luxury to complete the trio.

Bisu looks like the dude from Garou.

My bet? Khan Zergs.

I love that bisu actually expresses at least some personality in interviews, unlike most of he progamers. I know its not a very normal thing to do in their culture, but still.

Thx for the interview!

Seems that BeSt's confidence level is at a low point and understandably so. Anybody who credits his win more on luck than skill is obviously so. Hope that he can sharpen up and contribute to the restoration of the Protoss race.

Hyuk is just killing things left and right. I want to see Hyuk v.s. Luxury, ASAP! If Luxury gets hyuked, then HvZ would become a universally recognized term.

Loved Bisu's interview. The man is putting on some personality! He is learning from the birdtoss!

I really like it when the players speak what's on their mind, instead of the standard bullshit. I know that the western culture is different from the Korean ones, so my expectation may be a little unrealistic. This is why I love Stork so much. If Bisu keeps talking trash like this, he will be my absolute favorite player of all time, after Boxer.

i mean, why does this particular interview show any arrogance?
he's just telling it like it is

don't get me wrong. you can tell it like it is arrogantly... but i didn't feel any obvious conceit reading through it

enjoyed it.

At least Bisu is stating the truth. Who needs to practice when you're face opponents who are CLEARLY way below your skill level? I mean, if he had lost, then people would have been dissing him for being an overconfident dick. But he didn't.

But I do agree Bisu should stop doing this, I mean obviously he is telling things the way they are, but seriously, only oov can say "I will rape shit in this WCG thingy only with my basics" and get away with it.

2 Suggestions, albeit them being a little petty ;>

1) Add Player names (not everyone knows every player)
2) Add the matches (with results)

this way one doesn't have to look up things and it takes minimal extra effort =]

Thanks for the translation!

I guess you could make the point that Bisu is arrogant, but I like his interviews. At least it's a fun read, its better than having all 3 players say the same things.

Formula for general progamer interview:
1. Say how happy you are that your team won
2. Say that your opponent is really strong
3. Say that you will try and win next week
4. Mention people that helped you

At the least, we can get some discussion going about Bisu's interviews

That comment can also go another way, because it means when he meets a player of equal skill, his confidence isn't as high.

May a bit arrogant, but he does have the results and skill to back it up. And you also don't see the Koreans being bm about it either.

'Cause of the "(laughs)" part. Bisu didn't seem arrogant at all, he's just confident.

bisus arrogance is the main reason he keeps failing at OSL at early stages imo. Its rather sad for bisu fanboys to see their idol talk like hes the best when he has never won the most important individual league ever. Imo, he does NOT have the results to back up his arrogance, not getting anywhere near OSL finals for years is a clear sign he doesnt have what it takes to be a real champ, no matter how many proleague wins and GOMTV titles you stuff in there.

So 3 MSL titles are worth nothing? The difference between an MSL and an OSL isnt huge, and i personally think its rather impudent of you to call the most accomplished protoss player ever to play the game a chump that cant win the big one. He has the right to feel like he doesnt have to practice vs chinese players, snow, and perfectman
BTW, he has ONE GOM title and didnt even participate in it this season because its so meaningless. No one goes around waving Bisu's GOM title as his major accomplishment.

1) good call, I normally do this, but I forget.
It's kind of a pain because I have to tlpdize each name individually, otherwise if i say shine or something, that will get tlpdized, even though that player has nothing to do with the interview.

2)these things take like an hour and half for me to do anyway, I'm not interested in taking even more time =/
I'll start putting links to the matches though, good idea.

You seriously have no idea what you're talking about. Trash talking in interview has nothing to do with winning/losing in OSL. Saying he's better than the Chinese players is no equivalence to "I'm the best player in the world".

In term of titles, Bisu is the top 10 most accomplished players, so yes, he has every goddamn right to say he's good.

im not talking about this particular interview only. saying he is better than the chinese players is trivial, unnecessary and imo shows arrogance coupled with low confidence. do you really think there are many progamers out there that feel the need to point out there "is a skill gap between them and the chinese players" as a reason to why they dont prepare thoroughly? If you look past the face value of that statement you have to attribute it to insecurity or just bad personality. Someone really confident who has any sense of class would just state he doesnt prepare much for it and is confident in his abilities without any further explanation.

3 MSL titles are sure meaningful, but you are mistaken in thinking the difference between an MSL and OSL title isn't huge. It is. Ask any Savior fan how they felt after his 3rd MSL win and how they felt after his OSL win. Ask Savior himself. well, i think compared to the standards of the korean culture, bisu actually speaking out the obviously huge skill gap between them and the rest of the world might indeed be arrogant. but goddamnit, he can afford being arrogant!

and maybe he just said that because it is such a huge no-go in korean culture to admit that u are not gonna practice hard for a match... so that he felt like having to give some excuse for that.

imho thats a nice tradition. and i guess it doesnt hurt those kids if they go out to eat with some other dudes from time to time, especially if its guys from other teams.

bisus arrogance is the main reason he keeps failing at OSL at early stages imo.

Where did I say he is a chump? He certainly is one of the most accomplished protosses ever, still he isnt as good as he thinks he is, cuz from what I read between the lines in many of his interviews he seems to think hes the king, which he is clearly not.
3 MSL titles are sure meaningful, but you are mistaken in thinking the difference between an MSL and OSL title isn't huge. It is. Ask any Savior fan how they felt after his 3rd MSL win and how they felt after his OSL win. Ask Savior himself. Not recognizing the big difference for a gamers prestige between winning the MSL and OSL is ignorant and can only stem from blind bisu fanboyism.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL, there's your problem.

That's how the bias pours in and makes everything you say absolute BS.

obviously the ones who are "butthurt" are you bisu fanboys. Its my opinion and nowhere did I insult anyone else for his, whereas I have been flamed by you fanboys for my opinion in multiple posts. As for reading between the lines, everyone does it, its completely normal. You just did it detecting "bias" in my post. Clearly you read between the lines, because nowhere do I state explicitly im biased against Bisu. I guess Im done trying to have a civilized discussion with bisu fanboys.

I clearly remember nal_ra mentionning in a interview that after bisu won his third MSL he was commentating and then told him "you are the first protoss with 3 titles you are now a more accomplished player than me" (ra won 1 OSL and 1 MSL)
OSL is bigger of course for prestige (OSL finals is on public korean channel) but OSL isn't more difficult to win. One title is one title

lulz so much for the skill gap between bisu and chinese players.... so much for his right to be arrogant... well I guess he said it himself "If I lose its due to chance". What a sympathetic progamer.

PvP in a symmetrical map ^.^, wonder how you can get map imba with that. With that ego the results were deserved
