Finding the SC stadiums in Seoul can be a real bitch. This guide adapts nevergg's original one and adds some more text/photos. Future pilgrims to the SC Holy Land need never be lost again - Happy Watching!
General Info + Show Spoiler + ~ You never have to pay for live SC events. Not even finals. There is no ticket process and you do not have to make reservations.
~ Getting seats: Normally it's fine if you arrive 30mins before the game starts. If you want to be near the front though you need to arrive at least 1hour early especially for bigger games.
~ If you don't get a seat at first, don't fret. Even in big matches, people will leave between the games. However, if there is something on the seat, it means the person is coming back, so don't sit on it unless you want to be slapped.
~ The venue for the finals for all the leagues is DIFFERENT. Don't use this guide for that.
Subway map + Show Spoiler + Game Calendar + Show Spoiler +Click here for a half translated schedule. The only reason to use it instead of TL's own calendar is that it shows which Proleague matches are played where. You need to hover the cursor over the matchup and find the Korean in brackets next to the time. Its close to the top of the window and all you need to know is that: 용산상설경기장 = OGN Stadium LOOX 히어로센터 = MBC Stadium OGN Stadium - for OSL and half of the Proleague matches
용산 (Yongsan) Subway Station ~ Find the iPark Mall. It is almost directly connected with the station but there are few signs pointing the way. ~ The entrance looks like this: + Show Spoiler +~ The inside is very memorable though... + Show Spoiler +~ Now keep walking straight to the lifts at the back of the mall. ~ Goto floor 9. You'll be greeted with a seeming maze of office corridors. Just keep heading in a north-west direction and within 20 seconds you will see the entrance to the stadium. + Show Spoiler + MBC Stadium - for MSL and half of the Proleague matches
문래 (Mullae) Subway Station ~ Take exit 4 and follow the steps round till you see this bench area. + Show Spoiler +~ Now turn right and follow the the corner of the building round to the right again. (So you are effectively doing a U-turn but on to street level) ~ Make sure you are facing a load of bikes and a weird metal art thing. + Show Spoiler +~ Just keep walking forward along that street. You will pass a parking lot on your right. Go past that until you see the light at the end of the tunnel: + Show Spoiler +~ That is the LOOX centre and the MBC Game Hero Centre is actually in the second building attached to the right of that one. ~ So, when you reach the main entrance of the first building, walk through the clothes/department store to the exit at the back and into the second building. ~ Take the elevators on your right to the 3rd floor ~ The Hero Centre is then 15 seconds away, walk through the doors on your left onto the open balcony area. Then continue forward and you will see the studio on your right. + Show Spoiler + GomTV Stadium - for GSL
목동 (Mokdong) Subway Station ~ Take exit 8 ~ You'll see a very typical Seoul street in front of you. Just keep walking straight ahead for a full 5mins. ~ You'll cross some small streets but you are looking for a big crossroad/intersection with traffic lights. ~ Once you reach that crossroad, you need to turn left. ~ The view of the road before the crossroad, looks like this. Try to look out for the "Deli Cious" shop: + Show Spoiler +~ Alternatively, on the corner of street, on your left, you will see this "HUE" shop. This is where you need to turn. + Show Spoiler +~ You know you have walked too far if you reach the next subway station (Sinjeong). ~ Once you have turned left, you will see another unremarkable street... + Show Spoiler +~ Keep walking straight ahead for good 3-4 minutes. You'll cross a few small roads but look on your left for this... + Show Spoiler +~ GomTV's studio is actually located in the middle of a Media High School so calmly disrupt the basketball game as you march into the building. ~ The studio is on the 2nd floor (just take the stairs on your right)
Extra Tips. + Show Spoiler + ~ If you're keen, wait until 30-40 minutes after the matches have finished. After having interviews and photos taken the winning team will come out for a fan meeting.
~ Keep an eye on the winning team's fans and see where they go - some teams have fan meetings in other places (outside at Yongsan and KTF often has theirs in a courtyard downstairs at LOOX.)
~ Don't be shy about approaching the gamer in the fan meeting. The girls may give you dagger stares but we all know that shaking Boxer's hand is worth it. If you want a photo with them, try to look for nevergg who will get you one with funny and brutal efficiency. ^^
~ Do not try to approach the losing team. They usually leave very quickly and often do not stop for autographs. If they have been stopped by other fans then it is possible to quickly give gifts, but it is considered rude to ask for photos/sigs from losing players most of the time.
~ You can eat and drink in both venues during SC. Feel free to take snacks or buy them from nearby stores.
~ Do not shout/get up and walk around during matches. It's generally not done except during the break or at the beginning when fans do a shout out of support to the players who are playing currently. As for walking around - you are on camera sometimes so they ask you not to leave your seat during matches.
~ Do not approach players during the televised matches. The time for signatures and photos is fan meetings - you will get told off.
~ Make signs - if you look foreign you're almost 100% guaranteed to be filmed. Asians will have a harder time. If you're desperate to get a sign shown, wave at a nearby cameraman and point to the omgamazing English you have written. If you take a sign and it looks interesting, it will definitely be shown.
~ LOOX is also home to the MBC Hero Centre's shop where you can buy Blizzard merchandise, MBC Heroes caps, keychains, phonestraps and badges.

This NEEDS to be stickied as Seoul is definately the Mecca for SC gamers around the world, and this is the MUSTHAVE map for it
(Seoul's metro system looks sooo cool and organized btw)

For anyone living in montreal: Did the subway map not completely blow your mind?
Also, really helpful thread. I'll remember it when I visit Korea... one day.

Np guys. If any of you are in Seoul over the next year, feel free to PM me up. I can't promise Rekrul-level night outs but I can help you avoid getting completely lost in Seoul (no fun, trust me ). For a more personal view of watching SC, also check out my blog /pluggg. ^^

Do they no longer have games at Coex? I remember some match always going on there when I used to live in Kangnam.
|
Nice, thanks for this post!! I just knew the directions but now I have a picture reference to get there!!
For those who don't know, I'm actually planning to attend this Saturday to OGN studio for a match between CJ and OZ! So yea, this helps big time though I already know most part of the direction! Thanks!!!
|
It said to look for nevergg to get a photo. How can I recognize nevergg? I'm going to be at all the events on the calender on july 16-21, I hope to see you there!
It also says that I can buy MBC Hero goodies at the LOOX mall. Does anyone know where I can buy CJ Entus stuff? I really want their tshirt!
|
|
Hey, I went to LOOX today... but when i got to the MBC Game center it was closed? it was only 5pm but it was pitch black. Did I enter from the wrong side or something? I entered by going into the first building... going to the third floor and crossing the "bridge" to the other building. But it was dark T.T Does it only open only when there's games?
~~edit~~
ah... I found the answer to my question. Its closed more often than open? I guess I'll just have to go the day of a game or something.
|
Thank you so much for this Nice explanation!
I'll be tomorrow at the Shinhan Bank Proleague 08-09 Playoffs at 13:00.
|
No problem~
I'm so happy you guys use the search function <3
|
Thanks so much for posting this! This helped me find my way to the MBC stadium last week. I wrote about my experience here.

Hi,
I'm gonna be in seoul like 2weeks from 4july - 18july it would be nice to see a sc2 match while im there Is it any gsl then? I don't really know there schedule when and where they play.
Thanks for answer!
edit: what korea time does it start? So i know when to be in gomtv station ^^
|
Same question here. I'll be in Seoul end of August. Any big tournaments planned then? Where can I find their schedule if there is any? and so on.
I'll make pictures. :D
|
So yeah, previous post tells the introduction. First day I got in Seoul, I was up for 30 hours and it was only 2PM there, so I couldn't go to sleep. What better to do then search for some stadiums?
Found 2 the first day, and the last one on the second day. I can confirm that your guide is as straight forward as they get but here's some comments that will help improve it even further:
- OGN Stadium: If you take the stairs (they're hard to miss and it's rollstair), you're not stuck in the maze on the 9th floor of the iPark mall, even though you could hardly call it a maze.
- MBC Hero Game Center: the open balcony area is the area between the two buildings you were talking about, and you need to stay in the second building. The label "MBC HERO game center" has disappeared though. If it weren't for the fans gathering there for Tekken Crash I wouldn't have found it.
- GomTV Stadium: the Deli shop and HUE Place disappeared, and still I found it no problem. The GomTV Stadium now has a huge ass poster with SCII on it. If time allows I'll post the picture I've taken from it, but it's on my laptop.
Nother great thanks for this wonderful guide. I witnessed two great evenings thanks to you.

I'm about to go to SK now, hopefully (!) this guide will help me find the studios without too much trouble. Thanks for the effort!
|
So, I'm thinking about going for vacation about second to fourth week of august. I want to choose a time to go where there is starcraft to be seen. GSL's schedule for august isnt up.
Is it safe to assume there will be regular starcrafts event these weeks? do GSL pause?
|
Thanks for this post! Next week is the first OSL Ro16 match for starcraft 2. Will it be held in the same OGN studio described in this post?
|
How valid is this today? It's been 4,5 years since the last edit... I don't want to stand at the wrong venue when I go watch SPL in march this year :D any ideas?
|
|
hmmm, no Starcraft from 28.03. til 30.03.
|
Heyho, anybody knows if GSL is still at the same place although it is not GOM anymore, but Afreeca now?
I am in Seoul at the beginning of February (14-19th) and desperately want to attend a show. Hopefully Code S will start that week already! Otherwise maybe PL...!
Are the other locations still up to date?
|
As far as I know, Afreeca took over the GSL studio. SPOTV (SSL, Proleague) are at the Nexon Arena.
|
Where can I find a list of matches and where they are held? The links here seem to be broken
