OnGameNet Starchallenge 2007 Results and Statistics
[image loading]

Banner by KiZzBG

What is the Starchallenge?
Sources tell me that this is the brand new name for the former Challenge League, or Dual Tournament Round 1. For those not familiar with the Challenge League Format:
Every Wednesday, 4 players in every group will play a Dual Tournament style round robin on different maps. The players who advance from their group go on to the Dual Tournament (Qualifiers for the Starleague). A few changes have been implemented this season, such as the 4th place finisher of the previous starleague goes directly to the Starchallenge semi-finals, while the Round Robin has been changed to a Bracket Style, Bo3 format with, as said before, the fourth spot taken by the 4th place finisher in the last starleague.

History of the Challenge League
This does not include automatic 4th place seeds.

So the Round of 6 and then the Semi-Finals (what about Finals match?) are for the 4th seed spot in the next OSL? It's just the one winner of the entire Star Challenge that gets to bypass Dual Tournament--everybody else goes to Dual Tournament to qualify for the remaining 12 spots?

I'm guessing that the 12 non-winners out of the 13 (including OSL 4th place) combine with the 5-16th place of the last OSL to make a 24-man Dual Tournament in 6 groups that yields those 12 spots. This right?

I believe the final hasn't been scheduled yet I think.

So what your saying is yes.

All 12 losers (with one man left for that 4th seed) go down to the DT to fight for the last 12 spots for the next OSL.

You should really read the article(s) on the Ongamenet Starleagues and the format.

The first stage is the Challenge League (they call it Starchallenge now?). Well, there's also qualifiers for the Challenge League, but no one really pays much attention to those. Let's just assume it all starts at the Challenge League.

Two players emerge from each group, playing the format as you can see by the results above. The player that won two games (let's call him the "Winner" of the group) and the player who went 2-1 (the "Runner-up") emerge from each group of 4.

The "Winners" all play a mini-tournament to see who advances directly to the next Starleague. Rock won that. He's the #4 seed in the next Starleague.

All the remaining "Winners" and the "Runners-up" (of which July is one) advance to the Dual Tournament (ODT, you asked what it meant) and those players and the players from the last Starleague (who didn't finish in the top 3) get divided into groups of 4, similar to the Challenge League / Starchallenge (whatever they call it now). They play in the same format, with two players emerging from each group to advance to the next Starleague (it doesn't matter who the "Winner" and who the "Runner-Up is, both advance likewise with no difference at all).
I have returned.
