EPTI never renewed my registration back in December (CA) because I had a lot of hard shit going on and no money and I had just moved into a new place etc. But besides that I didn't actually own the car yet, had 2 more months of payments before I got the pink slip. So I was gonna wait to do the pink slip name change, renew insurance, address change on my ID, and registration all at once to belay any complications and avoid going to the DMV 10 times.
Money & Time have been tight in order to actually go to the DMV and do anything (their hours are 8-5, M-F, no weekends). So its impossible to go in there unless I get a day off (which I can't afford). And on top of this I got a few street sweeper tickets because the motherfucker comes 8 times a month (not exaggerating), as well as a ticket for parking on the street in some fucked up zone because my normal parking place at work was full. Which is completely retarded because the same parking-nazi who gave me that ticket a few months ago didn't put any 'expired registration' check mark then. And last month my boss decided to start paying us legit instead of under the table which is knocking 100$ a month off of my pay to fucking taxes and other bullshit like Social Security.
I never have any money being saved ever because shit always comes up. So the registration has been on the back burner for months.
Today I once again had to park 3 streets down from where I normally park because the lot was full and when I go to my car I found a 60$ 'Illegal parking with expired registration'*.
The asterick on the back states: -Violations Requiring Proof Of Correction:
Section 4000, 5200-5204 & 27155 CVC. require evidence of violation correction. When proof of correction is obtained within 21 calendar days of issuance, the fine is reduced to a $10 administrative fee (40225 CVC). Evidence of correction may be obtained at any police agency or DMV office that will validate your citation. Please mail your validated citation to the above address and include the $10 admin fee.
So I can just fix my registration and save 50$ right?
But upon looking for address of local DMV it said that they do no do registration renewals there, they must be handled over the phone or via internet (the internet method is not simply pay with CC, its totally complicated; something about an RIN). EDIT- ok same with phone method, wtf.... But the problem with that is I need to do the validation thing. How do I go about doing that?
Also I found a estimated renewal fee calculator and it said it's gonna be 131$. And another guy on a forum said that its 8$ for the first late month and 4$ for every additional month. How much is registration renewal usually? I assumed it was like 50$ or less being that I drive a 1993 Chrysler Town & Country worth $2k.
I'm sure I left out some stuff as I am stressed out a bit and I have a lot of shit on my mind besides this.
PS- When I renew my registration will the tags be for this month and expire 1 year later (may 010) or do they expire in Dec 009? And I also read that there is a tax deduction available for registration renewal.
