My question is simply: would there be any interest from bw players if someone were to make a cashgame thread or site? i always wondered why koreans were able to have a dotori game channel(for example players would spam for a 1v1 game for money or there would be a teambattle match, like a 3v3 match between two teams etc.) on west while we never saw anything of the sort in the foreign community

My initial idea was something like this, make a thread somewhere(obviously it would preferabe to have it on a place like tl where everything can be moderated very strickly but i would never involve them without getting their approval - anyways this would be the second phase of the planning.. for now all i want to see is if theres any interest)with a few players as the supervisors,

We would start off with allowing only the more trustworthy players of the community to setup their games, every game which would be setup via posts on the thread would be updated on the OP post and next to the match we would have something like CLEARED PAYMENT for example, from there we would establish a trust list and would allow for a more public game spamming system, for example someone would post on the thread 1v1 BO5 30$ series(now here you can obviously play with odds, if its a higher skilled player who is making this post he can say for example i will give you odds on your money if you are a lower skilled player etc. in order to attract a larger range of players), now if someone who wouldnt be on the trust list who however is still fairly known to community and would want to participate in this match then that person then you would setup like a payment after every game played system, for example after his first loss he would have to pay his opponent 10$ right away and vice versa or if the poster is really picky he could say you have to give me 50% payment before the game even starts and then at the end of the match if you win the down payment will be paid back to you with the money youve won and if youve loss then you have to pay the remaining 50% of the money, if the payment is met after the game then that person would start to accumulate history and would be more of a trustworthy opponent to play against(basicly its like the same system as like ebay - approval ratings, but we would setup the lists ourselves), if the person doesnt pay after his first loss or whatever then after the game on the match report you would post the complaint and that person would be completly banned from any future matchs, payment could be from pokerstars, paypal etc..obviously this would be left at the players discretion

edit: games could range from anything, 2v2 games, teambattle games, 1v1 games and even ums games, the money belongs to the players and they have the liberty to make any of their own decisions

feedback/opinions would be great

the main thing that sucks about bw imo is that you have to maintain your shape by playing so much in order to play the odd 1 or 2 tourneys every every 4-5 months(if were even that lucky), theres not enough motivation

Your transaction system could be made much easier and safe with a trusted escrow.

I certianly would never do this myself, but it's a cool idea for some of the very top foreigners.

Lot of positive posts and lots of negative votes ????
Speak properly, and in as few words as you can, but always plainly; for the end of speech is not ostentation, but to be understood.

all this needs is someone to start it off so the bw players could get involved, i wouldnt want to make extra work for you but you know who the best person to start this off would be, or at least the person whos in touch with the most people who could help with the setup

btw forgot about the blog, if you want to post start posting in the thread in the bw forum

it won't work for many many many many reasons

and i'm too lazy to list them

if you want to bet on games just get friends you trust and do it, don't need some silly site

betgames with friends arnt as fun then as with strangers.. and it doesnt feel right vs a friend, if it works on west with op dtr why wouldnt it work for us? the only difference is your switching the channel part with a thread so you can control everything, also another option with the payment system is you could send the money to a reliable person before the game

theres nothing that is impossible, the only problem is people are too lazy to start something like this, if they werent someone would have done something in these past 11 years

it sucks that we dont have something like cyworld money t-t, it would been so easy

I agree with Rekrul that it's easier and more commonly done with friends.

My suggestion if you really want to make this as big as it sounds, is to have a site where people need to pay money into it before playing and the payment is automated. That way you don't have to trust the person to pay up after losing because the website already has their money to pay out.

In fact, it would be best with a private server like iccup where all the games are automatically reported.

I think that a system like this only works on a small scale (friends) or a large scale website that people trust (poker).

its called progaming. This is a terrible idea because there is such a huge skill gap, and a LOT of people wouldnt pay.. It would be limited to a VERY select group of people, that would have to be very well known to avoid smurfing and if you lose just disappearing.

hacking / smurfing / people refusing to pay claiming hack/smurf incorrectly etc etc etc will run rampant as brood war players are faggots, especially the ones that can't just trust eachother and need some site to keep it 'legit'

especially considering most broodwar players are broke and faggots would jump at this to try and make money and would never stop no matter how many times u ban them from the site

thats just one of the problems....

main problem: even if that wasn't a problem not enough people would play at decent enough stakes to make it even close to profitable for the website
