I really love Paradox games.

Anytime I'm bored, I can just pick one of those and play like it was my first time for hours. And after two Victoria II's games in the recent weeks, I decided to go for Kaiserreich once again. For those who don't know it, Kaiserreich is a HoI 2 mod taking place during World War 2, where Germany won WW1.

And from here, everything is just so different from our timeline, meaning a lot of countries have their own problems. Oh, Germany - and its allies - is just fine being a democracy, since they didn't have any economical crisis, but for the rest of the world, the spectrum of problems they're into goes from annoying to batshit insane.

-

And to spice up the challenge, you'll have the opportunity to pick the country. And decide for me when the huge events will come up, because they'll come and it will end in a bloodbath. :p I'm open to pick another country/faction when an insurrection takes place of course, as it is a big part of the game !

As much as possible, if you pick Canada, I would like to play New England, since Canada in itself is just too easy. If you really want to, I can also play Japan, one of the countries in China, Mexicanos, the African powers (National France / MittelAfrika). Just don't pick a democracy, it's not fun, and if you choose it, the country will deviate badly before being invaded.

Count three days before the start of the game, and as much time to pick the right nation !

Great idea. FYI--Darkest Hour KR is 10x better than HoI II KR since it comes with casualty tracker and many improved event chains.

You should try playing the AOG/Republic of China--I have some pretty sweet custom events written for them that I can give you, if you so choose to do so.

I'll play with Darkest Hour indeed.

Qing Empire is tempting, AOG not that much since it's bound to Germany. It can still be interesting to play, but you have to stay within the German domination, do you ?

Not necessarily. There is an event chain that converts the AOG into the Republic of China peacefully, and another that does so via armed insurrection (although you have to swap countries sometime around 1937).

I have only played a couple of asian games in Kaiserreich at the moment but you made me curious there. If not this time, I'll definitely give it a shot later.

Though the poll is going straight for a New England game.
Good thing I've never played that country yet.
He's destroyed each time I'm playing Canada/USA/Mexico, and even any substate of the USA.

New England is insanely hard. It's like playing Mongolia without Sternberg, the extra MP the American Union State or CSA has just crushes you, and woe betide you if Canada decides not to help

Even if it's a slow death sentence, it should be fun.
Not like Egypt, the country with no event whatsoever... Which is sad because it's far from being the worst.

In my KR game Egypt and the Ottomans had a three-year battle at the Sinai that ground up over 11k manpower. I was wondering why both countries were in the top five in MP losses until I typed in the fog of war remover cheat and saw what was going on

Ahah, it's the second World War 1.
Speaking of which, is a good mod about WW1 exists ? The Darkest Hour WW1 is too short to be interesting.

And I was a sad panda the day I opened Egypt's event file, it's just empty - except for those religious events once a year.

Darkest Hour KR has some EGY events, if I recall correctly. I think there's a chain that fires that lets them annex northern Sudan.

Anyhow, Canada might be your best bet for a decent AAR, as its the one country that the AI never plays well (due to the cross-Atlantic amphibious invasion AI being dumb) and hence would benefit the most from a human player at the helm.

#Egypt

event = {
id = 077050
random = no
country = EGY
style = 2

name = "Eid ul-Fitr"
desc = "Today is the first day of Eid-ul Fitr and all Muslims are celebrating the end of Ramadan."
picture = "EidulFitr"

date = { day = 15 month = december year = 1936 }

action_a = {
name = "Celebrate!"
command = { type = dissent value = -1 }
}
}

Repeat this once a year, and this is the only event i could find for Egypt (in KR for Darkest Hour 1.3).

And for the Canada/New England choice, the first one has a big gap of nothingness between the USA civil war and the effective invasion of Europe. Canada aims for world conquest, while New England is more about seing me struggle to survive. My preference for New England came just because I haven't tried it yet !

I should have done an AAR for my last game, it was a Canadian one, with so many fail attempts at invading Union of Britain for 4 years in a row. :p

It was under a previous patch, Commune was rolled so badly I thought I had nothing left to do.
Commune seems to always win on the current patch.
