Alas, I am back to give you another procratination story that just happened this very night! (if you want to read my first blog to understand how insane I am with procrastination first then do so by clicking HERE). I am currently in a class called Lit Themes and I have to read about 4-5 books per quarter (so 8-10 books this whole semester) and depending on what book I read, it's worth a certain amount of points. In order to get a certain grade you have to get a certain number of points accumulated (that's where the variation of books I have to read comes from).

There's one more thing though.

Points don't carry over to the next quarter...

SO! Here's my dilemma in which I am currently being lazy about. I figured since I had to read about 4 books this quarter I would read the Hunger Games series that everyone is so in love with. I read the first one, the second one, and now i'm about 1/4 through the last one.

Now, when you're finished with a book you have to do certain things with it. You have to have lots of notes from each chapter throughout the whole book filled with page numbers and everything, and you basically have to write about 4-6 pages worth of essay like questions that our teacher prompts us with. After we've done all that work for one book, then you have to have a conference with my teacher in class where basically you talk all about the book and she asks you questions about it that you have to answer etc. You also have to turn in all of your work for a book the day before you want to have your conference.

Now, here's where the kicker is.

We've been in the 2nd semester of school for about 2 months now and the end of the quarter ends this Wednsday (March 21) Technically this means that I have today to finish ATLEAST 3 of the books and all of the work and turn them in all tomorrow and hope to God that my teacher will let me do 3 conferences on Tuesday with her because I still haven't done a SINGLE one! I am currently a senior in high school (Grade 12) and this is the only class I need to pass in order to have all of my credits completed to graduate in May. I need to get a passing grade this quarter so that next quarter I can bust my ass and keep it that way. So now i'm stuck here again on TL being my procrastinating self while I have to finish reading the 3rd book of the Hunger Games, write about 12-18 pages worth of essay like questions and have about 20-25 pages of notes for all 3 books all done by tomorrow.

I went to a LAN party last night that was from 10 pm - 6 am so I got almost no sleep because I wanted to still try and get up somewhat early today. I'm tired, I just want to play some Starcraft or CSS pugs and instead I'm trying to get the nerve to do 2 months worth of work yet again on little sleep so I can graduate...

And here I ask again, What's your procrastination story?

EDIT:
Greeting all once again! It is now 5:32 a.m. and I have finally finished all of my book projects that I can hand in today Now i'm off to bed to try and get sleep for about an hour before I have to get up for school. This leads me to my next question I want to hear about, after staying up as late as you guys have from your procrastinating to get your work finally finished, what did you do to get through the next day since you had little or no sleep??

See you all next time I didn't do my work!

Wow man, that is pretty brutal. All I'm going to say is that I've managed to get 60% of my college communications course as 0s...

That is by far the worst procrastination story I've heard in a while. By god man, why not just read??
Reading is actually pretty awesome if you pick a book that is interesting to you..

Granted, I have enough procrastination stories to kill you, a la "image basilisk," but the most pertinent one so far is the one going on this very second. Organic Chem quiz in approx. 17 hours and I have not studied one word. But I can't stop watching Redbull LAN/NASTL/random youtube clips. Been doing this all day. And my girlfriend thinks I've been productive today... >.>

Got a 5 page essay due in... 12 hours or so.

I bloody hate trawling trough 500+ pages of literature just to be able to find the ~20-30 pages that mentions what I am writing about in a roundabout manner so I can cite the stuff I could just write down straight up due to discussions in class. Was supposed to start this about 12 hours ago, but the internet becomes so much more fun when you have something you have to do ;P.

Hoo brother. That's some crazy procrastination, I haven't quite approached that level in the past but my current situation is pretty bad too.

I've done about 3 pages of my senior thesis since I decided on a topic in winter of last year. Now I have 30 to 40 pages to write in the next week, get feedback from my advisor and have one more week to write more and fix everything.

Also, studied for about a half hour to an hour for each of my 3 midterms last week, all after the CSL Princeton LAN during which I was up all night playing mafia. Monday night I stayed up til like 4 or 5 in the campus center on reddit for one exam, so on tuesday I decided instead to go to sleep early and wake up early to study for two exams on wednesday. Turns out GSL was still on by the time I woke up so I watched some of the up-and-down matches instead. Thankfully I aced one exam, and I will be able to do a pass/fail on a second course. That still leaves one bombed midterm though...

Man, crazy high schoolers who think they have it bad when it comes to work... Just wait until you get to college (if you choose to go to a serious university)...I mean, the Hunger Games is basically pleasure reading, imagine having to do all that work on some godawful boring books instead....

Its funny, every time I'm procrastinating, I see ur blog.

so here is my procrastination story:

My teacher tells me on Friday that I have a 20 research about a controversial topic due in two months. I chose abortion. So once I got home, I thought to myself, "I'll get one or two pages done so I can procrastinate more later." I end up finishing the two pages while doing the research as I go and I'm thinking, "There is still an hour until I usually go to bed, I should finish another page so I have more time to procrastinate in the future when I don't feel like doing this stuff." So I finish three pages and for some reason, I could not fall asleep. Around 2 am in an fruitless effort to fall asleep, I get out of bed and I begin working on my essay again. I'm able to finish two more pages before I start to feel drowsy and went to sleep at around 6 am. I woke up at around 6 pm and I realized that I sleep for about 12 hours. After completing all the necessities, it was around 8 pm and I decided to finish all my other homework so that I can have Sunday all to myself. I finished at around 3 am and I went to sleep. This time, I woke up at 1 pm and finished all my necessities at around 3 pm. After idling around the house for an hour, I thought to myself, "I might as well get some work done because I have nothing to do so that when I do have something to do, I can afford to put off my research paper." I was able to power through another four pages before I went to sleep. Over that school week, I was able to complete another two pages by skipping lunch and working on my research paper instead. I was able to complete one page per day at home because I thought to myself, "Hmmm, if I do one page per day for this entire week, then I will only have a couple of pages left so that I won't be screwed in case something turns up." That Saturday, I declined an offer to go watch The Lorax so that I could finish my research paper. I wasn't very interested in the movie anyways so I might as well say some and work on the essay until something better comes up. I was able to finish the last four pages by 12 pm but I couldn't stop there. I thought to myself, "If I turn in what I have right now, I'll probably end up getting a B or C since this paper isn't particularly impressive. If I put in more effort, I can get an A on this paper and offered to fail another assignment due to my chronic procrastination habits." I stayed up until 3 am finishing another page and a half. That school week, I continued to work on my paper during lunch and I finished another two pages. At home, I was able to finish another 2 pages over the week. I didn't get as much done because I spent most of my time revising my research paper. By Friday night, I was completely finished with my 25 page research paper. I felt confidant in my essay. One week before the research paper due date, I hear all my friends complaining about the fact that they haven't even started. Some of my friends assumed that they will be able to finish over the weekend. I spent the majority of that weekend playing Starcraft. On the day the research paper was due, 8 out of the 40 students were mysteriously absent, ~20 turned in incomplete assignments, 5 people turned in complete essays, and the rest made excuses. I got an 98 out of 100 on that assignment.

So what did I learn? To procrastinate procrastination.
