well last night my computer crashed for no apparent reason
this morning i manage to get it on and everything looks fine except i cant run the majority of my games and i kept getting messages when i tried to open said games saying that there was no video card capable of running them which confused me so i went into the device manager to find that my computer was claiming that i did not have a gpu on the computer...my next step was to open up my laptop and what i found was that a bug had gotten fried on top of my video card frying the card too ofc and now my computer cant even run sc right (theres a rather severe color issue) and i dont have enough money to replace the card >.< especially considering its a laptop and the card is built into the mobo FML

You can probably pick up some bottem of the line card for a few bucks at a local comp parts store, enough to run SC anyways (I used to run it on a 16MB card)

I don't get it, if your video card is really fried, surely you wouldn't be able to see anything on your screen at all, right?

thats what i would think too but for some reason i can see stuff on the screen but i cant DO anything (possibly only part of the card was fried)

Yea that's weird. Maybe it was semi-working, in that it had some functionalities still, but Windows could not pick it up.
Btw, that's basically the story behind the word "bug" (as in software bug)

that's interesting. You could always get a really cheap GPU or ask a friend if they have a really old one from when they upgraded their computer.

Replacing a GPU in a laptop can be bitch, maybe some place can repair it cheaply? Otherwise you have a glorified semi-netbook.

Haha, computer fried by an actual bug! This reminds me of reading about technicians having to clean dead moths from giant rooms filled with vacuum tubes.

it got torn apart in the fan
edit: it was also around as big as the tip of a finger
