I use this basic program for simple graphs. Allows graphing functions (which probably is what you're looking for).

Give him a break about excel. Takes time to learn how to use it properly, and doesn't allow graphing pure functions without input data as far as I know. While there are ways of generating these data columns, they still take time to learn how to do properly.

look you guys must think I'm retarded. I know how to graph using excel. I know how to generate numbers, and I can generated data from a normal distribution.

BUT ITS NOT PERFECT
[image loading]

this is a graph taken from a normal distributed, randomly generated data using the inverse and function with rnd().

someone tell me how to make that, with 0 variance?

god, its amazing how little help the posts and the smartass attitude that comes with it.

yea it is amazing. so amazing that i made this in like 20 seconds

What exactly are you trying to create? Maybe I can help. The variance is just the standard deviation squared. Thus, for your variance to be equal to zero you just have to have the exact same value for all your data.

Additionally, set your excel chart to plot smoothed lines, it'll make it look nicer.

I'm trying to create a normal distribution graph, and a skewed distribution graph. when I generate random data for those graphs, they have a lot of noise. I just want to generate a graph with those two distributions with no noise so I can illustrate it in a presentation.

Skewed in what sense? You want to move the mean further to the right on the x-axis?

yea and never mind, I figured it out.

I didn't use the normdist() function in excel.

now chill you can really close this.

To be fair, he's asking how to make the graph, not for one.

However, he could still have googled a guide himself. sup

Edit: Beaten by the OP ninja.

The normdist() function will only help you find the probability at a specific value within a normal distribution.

Just take the x values you have for that one data set and +3 and leave the y values alone. Plot that on top of the original.

Look. If everyone made a thread "I have some exceedingly simple, mundane task that I don't want to do so I'm looking for a simpler way to accomplish it" then this forum would be a fucking waste dump. In teasing you, I hoped you would reach this conclusion yourself, but obviously you didn't. So here I am explicitly stating it to you in the hopes you understand.

Could... could baller be this guy?

If so, that would be hilarious, although it seems unlikely.
