I recently started sailing with friends on weekends, so much more fun than bar hopping. | ||

I don't necessarily agree with stereotypes, but I will say this much: if you think that all Asians devote their lives to Starcraft then you really need to re-examine the world. I've met my fair share of Koreans, and some of them are singers, some are artists, and some are researchers. I once worked in a research lab under a Korean PI, and he was in the lab working like 12 hours a day, even working on Thanksgiving and other holidays. The top TOP progamers are celebrities, but what about all the progamers that spend their entire career on the B team or get like one televised match a year? They don't get paid much as it is, and even after they retire they may not be able to do much. You're 15 and you're living in the United States, away from all the facilities that Koreans have like PC Bangs and Shield Academy and Korean clans. I don't know if you saw on SCForall, but some amateurs spend 5+ years trying to pass Courage and/or get noticed by a progaming team during the regular drafts, and even after then they fail to get drafted. Some people reach the age of 21 and then at that point stand little chance of getting in because of their age. I respect you a lot for trying to get good at Starcraft, but if you ask me and a lot of others, you're NOT going to get to B- in a few months no matter what and your chances of becoming a progamer are slim at best. It's good that you are passionate about something, but you also have to set realistic goals and be aware of your own physical and mental well being, and you also have to be realistic about the competition you face, as well as the fact that the best foreigners, the ones who make it to Korea, are often EXTREMELY talented and didn't play the game 12 hours a day prior to going to Korea. I encourage you to continue playing Starcraft and trying to improve yourself, it's really good that you have such a drive. Everyone admires that and so do I, I personally don't have the time or the dedication for Starcraft to improve myself as much as you do. But really, this is too much. I really think so. And you've known me since your debut on SC2GG so you know I say things to you with the utmost respect and concern for you. I'm not here to criticize or diss you, I'm just here to show you genuine concern and offer my advice. I hope that you will consider what I'm saying carefully. | ||
