Pick up The Things They Carried too. That's another really good book about Vietnam veterans, and also quite a literary masterpiece at the same time.

I liked The things They Carried more, but this is definitely awesome. This is one of 2 books I read for class in high school that I genuinely enjoyed.

Read The Things They Carried in school.
It was good, but I don't know how many books about Vietnam I could stomach...

Yes, yes it does.

Is it fiction or non-fiction?
Also, just out of curiosity, have you read "A Long Way Gone" by Ishmael Beah?

I might pick this one up, sounds interesting. My recommendation would be "When Heaven and Earth Changed Places" by Le Ly Hayslip, which centers around the life of Hayslip who lived in a village on the "line" between the north and the south. Reading about her life between the Americans and Vietcong was really captivating.
Another book that comes to mind would be Graham Green's "The Quiet American," which, however, talks about the French in Vietnam in the 1950s written from the view of a British reporter.

It is also non-fiction; a memoir of a boy soldier from Sierra Leone.
I will definitely put the one in the OP on my list.
