I've been down with some kind of stomach virus or something all week, and it really sucks. D: I still went to class on monday and tuesday but then had to leave halfway through wednesday.
The really annoying part is that my school is super strict on attendance, so I had to go to the doctor today basically to just get a doctor's note so I could be excused from class for the rest of the week, otherwise a bunch of my grade is reduced because they are super strict like that and have a "no absence no matter what" sort of policy.
Does anyone else have ridiculously strict classes/schools for attendance? If not I am jealous of you.
I'd be enjoying my time off but I've been stuck on the couch the past few days. ;o I should probably think of something productive to accomplish while I have all this free time. Someone suggest something!

You need a medical certificate to be excused from most school related stuff here. I don't really see how it's 'super strict' for you to show evidence of your illness claim.

3 absenses and you get 0.0 for your grade, is that strict enough?? Dude, the worse that could happen is you missed A LOT of quiz and have to make up for it when you get back, which were I'm at right know, because of that overrated A(H1N1). Anyway, go game? 1v1 Heartbreak? xD

wait till everyone realizes you're a girl.

Well, it's like 3 absences total and the grade is reduced by a letter grade, then 4 classes and it's automatic failure. ;o Though 4 classes is a lot, but still. It's just there's a ton of reasons that you can't miss class for, having a doctor's note is pretty much one of the only ways you can get around actually missing it. And even then you have to go through an appeal process for the class, so. ;\
Playing poker sounds pretty fun ;p I used to play it some and was okay at it, but haven't in awhile.

My students are allowed to be absent for ten full days without penalty. After that they just have to do extra homework.

That's a lot of days haha. o: When I went to community college for some general ed classes, they were so ridiculously lax on attendance. Some classes you didn't even have to show up to except to take the final. So it was a pretty big contrast going from there to where I am now.

Compared to what every other school I've ever been to has been like, it is kind of strict. ;p Though what I mostly meant anyway is that they don't really even let you miss a couple days without requiring it. If you were out way longer than that I can understand but, I dunno.

Mhmm.. some days I just don't feel like going to school and my school is cool with it..
But see I'm top 20 smartest ( lmao ) in a middle school of 2,000 and my teachers know I just don't want to come that day & don't really care because thats how its done in Dallas! were lazy slobs lol....
But I'm going to start taking high school seriously thought.. I bet I'll still be top 20 =D

Our school had such strict rules for attendance... which were never really enforced, so people with +40 days absence were only given stern warnings and could nevertheless do their finals. It makes me still mad when I think about how often I dragged myself into school even when being ill -_-
To pass the time, watching a TV show completely (The Mentalist did it for me) or playing really big maps in Heroes of Might and Magic III helped me to kill the boredom. You could also do something useful and learn vocabulary of a foreign language - how many can you perfectly memorize a day? How many in a week?

Hm I was thinking about maybe watching a tv series, though I'm not too sure if I'd want to or not. Most tv series never really interest me too much to keep my attention for the whole thing haha. I've been wanting to learn either portuguese or korean, too, but it's all so daunting. :c
Though I guess I do just have the OSL to watch now, haha ;p

My school was extremely lenient. I think it may be all schools in the district, but the policy was at 10 unexcused absences per semester(quarter?), you'd flunk the classes. However, excusing absences was basically a note from your parent for anything less than a week, and a doctor's note for anything more than. That and you could file prearranged absences, that would be excused, depending on the circumstances.

Yes, in my school you need a medical certificate to be excused. Always. @Alsar please don't learn the brazilian portuguese... it's so annoying when an american says "oh yeah i can speak a little portuguese" and then it's brazillian!!! There are more diferences between portuguese/brazilian portuguese than between english/usa english. Still we understand each other perfectly.
