have you tried using Windows disk manager or whatever it's called? Control Panel > Administrative tools. If it's not there then open up computer management and it should be on the tree on the left. Once you're there delete the partition you created and that should un-allocate all the space. I'm not sure but you may be able to partition the rest of the space. I never had this problem before lol. EDIT: I thought reformatting just deleted all the data on the partition, not erase the partition completely?

Memory/Hard drives are generally sold by GB and not GiB (GB = 10^9 bytes, GiB = 2^30 bytes). Generally people take GB to by synonymous with GiB (GiB stands for gibibyte btw), but in the case of hard drive/memory sales that is not the case. Because of this, a "600GB hard drive" comes out to read as 559GB once formatted and used by a computer, but the amount of space has not changed.
