So I think it's safe to say that I am better at Starcraft than I've ever been at any other video game. I've been playing quite a bit since Feburary and have generally taken it more seriously than I usually do with most games. Anyway, I think it's pretty funny that that translates into finally stumbling into C- on Monday--please, hold the applause, I know everyone is just thrilled at this news . Plus I'm sure I will bounce back and forth for months now (like I did with D+). I must admit, though, I am pretty happy about it.
I've been playing Zerg (advice in this thread about starting races be damned) and I felt pretty stuck at low D+ until I broke an APM wall at 120 a few weeks ago.

Took you quite a few games, but congratulations none the less.

Congrats, don't give up and make it a straight C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Wow. That's a lot of games. With that sort of dedication, I'm sure you'll only improve. Nice job and keep going.

Play D+ to get to C-, why are you playing against D players. :[
|
Congratulations! Playing with C players will improve your game a lot. I also have just achieved C-.

I host D/D+ games and play whoever joins pretty much no matter what. I will admit that I got a lot of non-korean Ds at the end there.

Good job man I remember playing you last season, glad to see you're improving!
|
When do you play? I play 75% Korean's from 4 - 10PM PST
|
great job man! :D
BTW, lol@opponent nick: MicroJackson
|
korean or not doesn't matter. it's strange how almost every one of your games is against D you should play d+, the skill level really isn't that different and you will get more points.
|
I wouldn't be too proud. Just took a look at your match lists. There is an shit ton of games you played against D players.
There is a big difference between D players and D+.
Dunno, if I'm just hard on myself but I'd never consider myself C- unless I got there through beating only D+ players from 2000-3000.
Anyways, good job nevertheless, but expect to be knocked back in an instant, unless you plan on continue playing D's and D+'s.
|
Oh I expect to be knocked back down and of course I'm going to play my 2 games against C- players immediately. Why wouldn't I? I don't think I'm a C- skill level player. It wouldn't really make sense if the first time was anything other than luck. I'm still just kinda tickled that I got it at all
Edit: I'm sort of interested though... what is the accepted standard? I've always just hosted games with the tile "mapname myrank/myrank-1" and never really thought much about it.

5 minutes apart :D
Seriously, low ranks are really inconsistent.

Lol. I always see huge difference. From D I often face people who have no idea what their doing, to some people with decent idea of their BO and mechanics. At D+ pretty much everyone has their BOs down and decent mechanics. So the amount of ''standard games'' and otherwise more challenging games will increase at D+, while at D the amount of free wins is usually big. And with free wins I mean that you really just play your game and follow your BO and just roll them over at midgame without any challenge at all.
Also for some reason, I very often run into C- to C+ players at D+ levels. But this should change as the season reaches it end.

Wow pride cometh before the fall.
