Found this interesting video on Chinese e-sports from Arirang:

Mainly focuses on WE, who have a lot of the top WC3 players out there. Interesting to see what their training house is like, and it's surprisingly similar setup to those in Korea.

It's interesting to see the difference between the e-Sports industry in China and Korea when displayed like this, side-to-side. I think, to some point, fans have a lot to do with it. A lot of Starcraft fans, for example, shun games like Warcraft 3 or CnC, which do have their competive scenes, only because they aren't Starcraft. Thankfully, this phenomenon is less pronounced when you move into games of different genres. But most players have their favorite RTS game, their favorite FPS game, etc., and the games of individual genres with the most fans enjoy growth, while the remainder are dropped to the wayside.

Awesome to see a look into what Sky does and WE house, it's kind of surprising to see how many people are still playing games like MIR 2/3.

Such a shame CS isn't more popular in Korea.

Chinese scene is very fragmented.
War3 is only popular because China showed some results. Other scenes are crap.

People play games but government policies and cultural resistances = no meaningful development of professional scenes.

Kids will get into gaming at college then quit when they found a job.

This was a very good and educational video. Gave a lot of insight into the development of the Chinese e-Sports scene. I also liked the insight of non-StarCraft progamers in Korea.

However, I find it suprising that European countries were mentioned as some of the leading countries in the e-Sports industry. Do not get me wrong, Europe has a very vivid competitive scene in a great variety of games. But the industry itself still remains a joke, particularly in comparison to the Korean e-Sports industry.

Yes, he does. He's not doing that well at the moment but TH and InFi to a lesser extent are doing very well with Hu.

Oh, I just noticed I have a full stop after my name.

Mir 2 has been popular for 7 or 8 years here. 2D MMOs still count 50% market shares in China, I'm not kidding.
No more SKT1, it's SKP2.
