So I'm a sixteen year old male and I'm losing my hair. I'm not actually bald in any area, but its thinnest on top(noticeably even when dry) and when wet you can see my scalp at the hair division lines and generally my hairs just thin. It's been happening very slowly for approximately a year and a half; but its hard to give a good figure cause I can't tell how long I spent denying it and avoiding for a lot of that time. I guess I was kind of floored but I'm past that stage. Then I guess I decided it wasn't a problem and I shouldn't be so vain but I'm through with that as well. Now I just want to do everything in my power to halt or reverse my hair loss I started using fairly gay shampoo (Tre-seme(?) anti-breakage shampoo) and stopped wearing hats (a myth I know). So I researched the causes using the magic of google and it wasn't too helpful. I don't have ringworm or cancer; I'm not iron deficient of malnourished; I'm an athletically built 5'8, 140lbs. So I'm fairly sure it's genetic, my brother also has a bald spot, which sucks. So does anyone have any advice for me; are their any things I should or shouldn't be eating? Is anyone else fucked over like this or beaten this? Most importantly, is their any stuff I can use to fix this, chemicals substances or what not. Really anything at all; I'm a fairly good-looking dude and I would very much like to get laid in the future and my hairs a big part of that (). So if anyone has any input, I'm all ears.

Well I'm a bit older than you but I've noticed my hairline seems to be going back a bit on the sides and it unnerved me.
I'm just keeping a positive attitude and assuming it isn't going to do much more for a long time XD

Are you stressed out hugely? If so, there's a chance that's it. If that is it, you need to get rid of the stress (obviously), and then it will stop.

see a doctor or get rogaine?

Seeing a doctor will probably get you more (and better) advice than here.
That being said, Sleeping a lot and reducing your stress should help, as artosis said.

try to reduce stress, try to sleep, eat well. try to live healthy. give yourself scalp massages.
also just accept that u may bald at a young age because that's life and it really won't be that big of a deal. really.

Go to a dermatologist and get a opinion. Only a dermatologist could tell you whether it's fixable or not.

sleeping incorrectly can cause stress, and since you are so young, you may have a hard time identifying this. im not saying this is what is causing it, but even so, just for your general help, aim for 8.5 hours of sleep a day.

Not sure about the hair loss but it is most likely genetic. I haven't really heard of anything that you eat that can cause hair loss. Stress and lack of sleep could be a factor, but I don't think it's that influential that you'll have such noticeable effects so early on. You definitely could ask your doctor next time you go in for a physical (or earlier if you are worried)... do you expose your hair to any sorts of chemicals or something? Maybe swimming + chlorine (don't think that causes hair loss but I know it changes your hair if your in it for a long time, like black hair being dyed brown)

you post like a douche but I'll help you anyway
here is a recommended source:
http://www.baldingblog.com/ (use the search, all sorts of stuff is answered by a reputable doc)
TLDR chemical overview: finasteride (sold as propecia) slows down/halts hair loss but won't grow back receding hair, taken as pill minoxidil (sold as rogaine) increases hair growth cycle, topical application only, does not slow down/halt hair loss
for young people finasteride is best
if you are taking drugs for hair loss, you must be prepared to stay on them for life or hair loss will catch up (so if you don't want to bother with applying rogaine on your scalp 2x/day or whatever your hair will be fucked harder if you suddenly stop using rogaine on minoxidil dependent hair)
both drugs have side effects
you really should go to a doctor though (preferably a specialist) for an accurate assessment

Only some styling wax every now and them (I've got bisu style long hair so its kind of a must). Thanks though

I'm sorry I wasn't aware. That said, if I could give you a best answer I would thank you. Edit: If your judging for this thread alone, you're probably right (I re-read it). I'm a bit stressed, and this scares me shitless. Thanks for being cool.
