So my computer shut down when I tried to start up Team fortress 2. So I checked BIOS and went to computer health. I saw CPU temperature was 1000 degrees and was like "hmm, thats wierd... O SHIT ITS GONNA FUCKING EXPLODE!"

I took off the side panels of my computer and checked the cpu fan, and a cord was blocking the fan from spinning, I shoved the sucker somewhere else and restarted my computer. Don't you love happy endings :D

This happened to me when I forgot to remove the plastic thing sitting on the CPU so it didn't connect with the cooling paste (it got to 95 C which is a bit past 200 fahrenheit). You mean fahrenheit right? 200 degrees celsius is a bit... yeah...
I had it running like that for months before noticing. Actually, they can endure the heat a lot better than you'd imagine. And talk about it shortening their lifespan is not necessarily true.

my fan broke too, it has only two wings left and it makes horrible HORRIBLE noice.
it shuts down when i play bw like 10 min =)

i once had my laptop on my legs too long and they burned, or perhaps they more boiled? The heat built up slowly so that when I took the laptop off, my legs were sweaty and numb. For months I had these red/purple lines on my legs.

from now on- crappy dell laptop stays on desk.

pfft i win. i left my laptop (which runs pretty hot normally) in my backpack fan facing down thinking it was off. i later notice my backpack being very hot. i open it up and check my temps and was at over 100 degrees celsius, i think 215 or so farenheit. luckily it still works ~~ really surprised it didn't shutoff by itself but w/e.

o_O my laptop got really hot one time because it was still on in my backpack -_- sometimes it gets retarded and doesn't shut down after i close the top.

My average cpu fan temperature hovers around 49 degrees, although when playing GTA 4 or Crysis i have seen it get up to 60-70 degrees. I'm not really worried, the cooler is huge but the an the QX9650 is just so hard to cool.
