It's true that I'm pretty much as good (or bad rather, since I suck) with terran as I am with zerg despite barely ever playing as terran. I think the main reason for that is the amount of info I've been able to get for terran. Zerg definitely have to learn on their own a bit more (of course there is some help, but not as much as there is for T or P).

And I would never try to argue that the dynamic of T and P isn't far, far different from Z. Someone recently wrote a 2 hatch muta guide that made the most sense to me thus far as a non Z user. The thing that doesn't seem to get covered much is how builds adapt to meet the build your facing. A simple example is the 9-minute push for terran is the same up until near the time you want your factory, 3 hatch = factory, 2 hatch = rax. it's stuff like that which i feel leaves zerg users in the dark, because if a terran adapts properly, I see most zergs immediately respond "oh fuck need hive tech" and it creates a painfully big timing window that I exploit repeatedly.

At first I read through every Zerg thread in the recommonded list in the strategy forum. After that, I just followed through by watching progamer vods.

I look to non korean zergs for possiblities and pro gamers for precision.

For instance I have watched hundreds of ret and mondragon replays to get a feel of what they can do with zerg( as a way of understanding the farthest limit of my potetential in my best single game) and I look to pro gamers Jaedong,Effort,Julyzerg,Yellow[arnc] for the excucution and builds of what is currently in vogue by the strongest zergs.

I think finding a favorite player/play style is the key to truly falling in love with broodwar, I feel in love with h.o.t-forever and then [nc]...yellow and then julyzerg, so for years I loved low eco play, then I saw blackman, 0gogo and oversky make 50 drones and drop hydra/lurker/ling and fell in love with that and so on and so forth. Currently my favorite ZvP style on the planet is actually eg.machine his 4 hat hydra openings are very strong and smart and set up for a very strong lategame. His playstyle is centered around 4-5 base - 4 gas into hive and from the first moments of the game he is pacing for that.
