Battlestar Galactica is a must-see show for anyone who hasn't. The show is amazing. The drama is high and the intensity of the acting is always top notch.
The show often chooses to focus on philisophical and political issues. The cylon, the major antagonists of the story, reflect the destructive nature of human beings as a whole.
I've just finished season 3, and i'll be starting season 4 as soon as my pizza gets here. Gaes Baltar is the one of the most developed and intriguing characters i've ever seen from a series. I love the paralells they make between him and jesus, like showing him with the white robe and beard. I definetly think he will end up as a martyr for humanity, but we will see.

All I can say is. If you haven't seen it this show is "A must before you die list"

I was addicted to this show and I was so sad when it ended. If you haven't seen it yet, then start watching season 1 ASAP.

Slightly offtopic but I played the boardgame and it was actually really good. I plan on watching the show soon.

I heard everything started sucking after season 2

i have to disagree, after season 1 i felt no more motivation to continue watching. it is essentially the bible story of journey to the promised land, but in space. Predictable plot, decent characters, but their deaths are essentially rendered insignificant because of cyclon technology.

It had its high and low points. I liked it as much as the last couple of seasons of DS9.

Well season 3 is all about evolving the cylons and build up the characters even more after 1 season 4 hour pilot and 2 hours of webisodes (just season 1-2-3) and then you have the movie.
For all those who like BSG, go watch Caprica!

Baltar is probably the best written and acted character I've ever seen in a series. BSG is by far the best series ever as far as characters and acting goes, with only The Wire coming close for me (and Mahone from PB ), and above all this, its a kickass sci-fi too
Definitely a must watch for everyone.

I've never seen BSG actually, but lots of people talk about it. I just think it looks so cheesy and star-trek like
Anyone seen The Shield? Now that is a good tv-series
|
is it better than Stargate: Atlantis?

They are both equally horrible.

Anyone seen The Shield? Now that is a good tv-series It's not at all like Star Trek. The sci-fi element barely plays a role in most episodes, and everything ties into the ongoing story line. I actually liked TNG, but BSG blows it away.
BSG and The Shield are two of my favorite shows, so I'd say give it a shot. :p
+ Show Spoiler [The Shield] +The ending was so perfect. From the time they announced it was going to end I was speculating on how it'd turn out, and there was really only one possible way. Sucks for Ronnie though.

This is a really fucking good show...great modern reinterpretation of the scifi genre as a whole: less focus on the scifi-ness and the cool spacey shit, and more emphasis on taking advantage of the setting to make something truly interesting to watch on many levels.
I haven't seen the third or fourth season yet, though. It's finished after the fourth season, right?

One of the greatest shows, no doubt about it.
SGA is pretty bad and in comparison with BSG it's little more than a joke.

its so funny that you meantion the wire, because i thought that show was amazing on the same levels as bsg is amazing. it was when, in season 4, they showed the drug trade through the eyes of the kids, it fascinated me. i remember the scene where the father drug leader was talking to his son, and told him to cut is ponytail, which was quite long, so that the police wouldn't recognize him. and also when the teacher takes them out to eat at a decent restaurant and all you see is this uncomfortable anxiety about fitting in. great show.

Show should have been two seasons shorter :/
