Fuck me. im downloading loads of stuff daily. When its torrents, its cool. but some files, i can only find on rapidshare, megaupload, easyshare.com...etc..all these fuckin sites make it so extremely obnoxious to download. U gotta wait + you can have to download a file separated into 13 fuckin parts. + you're throttled... (i know they're doing that so we are enticed to buy premium accounts)
still... an obvious question that can come to one's mind is;
WHY...ARE ....UPLOADERS....NOT UPLOADING ON ....TORRENTS ...instead ?!
seriously, whats the point of uploading on all these dumb sites when you can just click a few button and have your content shared on torrent?
|
google "cryptload" and youre fine
btw, torrents are/were heavily observed in several countries due to the fact its really easy to do. but they could never access the servers of megaupload, rs and co. only if they get your isp to hand out your connection data which has to be ordered by a judge. at least thats what it is like in germany.
oh, and rapidshare is back with full bandwidth for free users, dunno for how long but at least it is now

HTTP downloads have advantages too. If you are not willing or allowed to install a torrent client for example, or if ports are filtered at your place.
|
Because... uploading sucks up bandwidth and most people are jerks who won't seed after they're done and it's impossible to find anything obscure since torrents die after a short period of inactivity.
Generally, everything has been on a torrent at one time or another... The HTTP downloads you're complaining about are what keep the files available for laggers like yourself
|
avantages? only for uploaders. sometimes i find out about a new file that just comes out on the internet...(i search many many sites) ...it comes out , first on rapidshare....then a few days later, someone made a torrent...which saves people loads of time... i wonder why this is not done more often. on forums, we have a guy posting 13 links to rapidshare. and then bizarrely hes congratulated by countless forum posters about how its a great upload. yet no one takes the time to torrent the shit up. everyone goes through the pain
anyhow, Method, im really intrigued about your cryptload..ill be sure to check it out.

Yeah you should totally get pissed off you get to download free shit instead of paying for it. Sorry if that's too inconvenient for you.

EDIT I share a paid megaupload account with my cousin...I don't know if it'll be worth it in the long run, but as of now, the convenience of being able to DL like 30 files at a time at decent speeds is convenient as hell.

Torrents are usually slow and things you can only find on megaupload etc would be esp rare on a torrent and not everyone wants to make a torrent with their slow upload rate for a 1 gig file have to wait for a long time and probably never get properly seeded. I have a megaupload perimum account no wait no throttle always max download i found it ways more convient.

I love megaupload. It's the only site where I could download at max speeds (5.0mb/s). Torrents suck, they are so slow.

?! care to explain that? you mean slow like 300-800 k/s?
btw, im not just talking about rare files, most of the stuff i want on rapidshare are very popular files. tons of comments are posted on forums about them and they even are requested. so think i think its lame to use rapidshare just to save a little bandwidth. just seed it once, and then let others seed.
its not like its supremely important to go rapidshare//megaupload instead of seeding a torrent once, just to save a tiny bit of bandwidth.

skipscreen is cool but its not what im lookin' for ^^ it skips ...yes..but it skips screens. meaning it skips pages..which saves you seconds..you cant bypass the 5 or 10 minutes delays with that. it still cool because you get a popup download screen whenever your time waiting is done. kinda cool.
Cryptload is the way to go, but right now im not able to make it work. Router problems. (their forums are filled with Router issues) apparently its amazing when it works.. if anyone knows how to configure Cryptload for a 2Wire 2701HG-G router...please help.
i posted this on their support forum..

rapidshare and megaup are for noobs.
use newsgroup.
|
u gotta pay for newsgroup ^_^;;
im strictly free surfin
update; Cryptload is amazing lol. i just wish it could work for all sites...easyshare doesnt work-.-;; but its great for rapidshare...and i guess megaupload which i havent tried yet.

there are pro and cons for both, torrents/p2p or file hosting sites.
i used to do stuff with torrent but, i got me a megaupload 1 year premium account a few months ago and didn't regret it for 1 second. i find 99% of the things i want with megaupload, and if i can't find it then i also usually don't find it on (public) torrent sites. i can download at line speed, do batch downloads, you have the link checker to check dead links. i can start a movie download and watch it right away, while downloading. also megaupload links usually last a lot longer than rapidshare. i don't see any good reason to go back to torrenting right now. especially because torrent also kills my connection because of the upload, with megaupload i just throttle the down speed and can play games at the same time with no problem. yeah, it was 60€, but i think it was totally worth it.
and why is it for noobs? but whatever, i'm a happy noob that gets everything he wants in a matter of minutes, so i can live with that.

well, u can get everything on newsgroup that you can get on rapidshare, megaup.
There are wonderful communities and programs that you can use for newsgroup, no need for scraping forum posts.
also most nzb posts come with par files which you can use to repair any damaged files so no need to download shits again.
You download at full speed, no need to depend on peers.
5TB of movies, music, games blah blah are posted daily on newsgroup.
newsgroup servers are cheap. astraweb is 11 USD per month.
some ISP even offer premium newsgroup servers as part of their service.
To wrap it up, newsgroup is the omfg upgraded awesome version of rapidshare. you don't need to click through shits, everything is much more streamlined compare to http sites.
|
i dont think you ever tried rapidshare&co. if you did so you would know, theres no need for searching forums and shit. there are dozens of search engines which are working fine, there are 100s of sites having their downloads categorized etc.
i never torrented alot, when napster, kazaa, emule and the likes died off i went straight to http downloads. mainly because there was some crazy suing going in germany where the music industry randomly charged people because of uploading stuff, cousin of mine was charged with 6.000€ for "uploading" (seeding id guess) like 20 songs.
|
i've tried them all. i know there are sites where you can search for rapidshare files but essentially what i'm saying is that rapidshare and megaup and sites like them are just a miniture version of the giangatic newsgroup community.
http downloads are limited by the fact that sites cap your download (yes you can get programs and pay thus bypass them to a degree) but newsgroup does them naturally :-)
the two methods function identically but newsgroup is much more organised and has existed far longer.
