Sup TL,
right now i am a high school senior in the US studying intro to Mandarin. i have fallen in love with the language and have enrolled in a Mandarin program at Fudan University in Shanghai for foreigners over the summer. Of course i plan on studying in college next year but i want to immerse myself in the language and culture.
I leave June 30th get back August 10th.
I do have an aunt who lives in Shanghai for business, but she will be out of town for most of my stay, so i will be living in a dorm on campus. I will have a lot of free time outside of class (it's only 3 hours a day in the morning) and i want to know of some cool things to do while i'm there. I don't really want to spend all my free time doing touristy stuff. I plan on befriending some locals and having a crack at the ladies of course. I'm just hoping if you guys could point me out to any of the cool spots in Shanghai that i should check out. Clubs/malls/restaurants/bars/whatever.

I went to Shanghai with a Canadian friend 3 years ago (I am China born Canadian). We mostly did the touristy things there for 1 week since we were going to visit other cities in China as well. But I recommand some nice and cheap shopping in some of the big malls. Finally beware of beggers in the poorer areas, if you are white they know you have money LOL. My friend was literally being grabbed by some of the people that live in the poorer areas, =( for them and my friend at the same time.

Shanghai from what little I know of it is a pretty straightforward Westernizedish city. It shouldn't be that difficult to find clubs and shit, but make sure you know what you're eating/drinking in the shadier portions of town

Shanghai is a great city with an active night life and no drinking age so I'm sure you will have plenty of fun during your stay.
