What I Did During Spring Break.

So I know many TL.netizens have missed me (not), and my wonderful charm (non-existent) over the last two weeks or so. My inbox is full of PM such as "Why aren't you posting anymore?!?!" and "plz mak anothr blog entry PL0X!11!!1". So I decided to fulfill both requests, after the relative success of my first blog entry I have decided to make another. I know I said somewhere that I would update the video I made (see last blog) and I never did get around too it because of matters that will told during this blog.

So what exactly did I do during spring break? Every year a group of people, high school students and chaperones go down to Tijuana, Mexico to build homes. I was lucky enough to sign up this year, and have probably the most fantastic time of my life ever. There were approximately 85 of us going on two buses. Now I live in Central Alberta, and the trip took 3 days there and 3 days back. I'm sure many of you will think that it was hell, being cooped up in a bus for 6 days, however the experience was not all that bad. Quite enjoyable actually. I was interesting to get to know people around you, there is nothing akin to spending 3 days on a bus with someone relationship wise; you just get to know them. Other than that we got to see some beautiful American country side. Our route was the I-15, we traveled (by stopping destinations) through Dillon, Montana to Cedar City, Utah. Then to Tijuana, Mexico.

This was all done through a group called Youth With a Mission (YWAM). The point of the trip was to build 4 houses for the less privleged in Tijuana. The whole experience down in Mexico was amazing, the food was awesome, even the accommodations in the Mission base were excellent. I am not going to preach to all of you, because that is not my prerogative, however I will say: If you ever feel inclined to help in a larger way, visiting the YWAM base in Tijuana is a great experience. Now I'm sure some of you are thinking "Pics or it didn't happen", well I did take some pictures, but they haven't been uploaded and I really don't feel like doing such so here are some: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tjmaphotos/sets/72157616081538789/
I beleive that I am in some of those pictures, http://www.flickr.com/photos/tjmaphotos/3401293902/in/set-72157616081538789/ (like this one *points and laughs*). We were down there 5 days in all (trip was 11 days).

Well to wrap up, I am glad to be back in Canada (although more time in Mexico would have been nice) and I am glad to be back on TL.net. Unfortunately I have missed so great games, however I did get back soon enough to sign up for FPL. This was a really amazing experience, I highly recommend that people get out there and participate in Missions Trips. It is something that you will not regret. Also I will be returning in the Summer most likely so if anyone is going PM me.

Pz out,

EmperorChampion

EDIT: the pictures are a collection of most other people who went, I didn't bother to upload mine cause it was mostly more of the same

I just saw your blog posts and you only had 1, and it didn't get alot of replies ><

Anyway, nice job building homes for the less fortunate, it's kinda like those Alternative Spring Breaks in colleges they have. I thought it was alittle dangerous to go to Mexico though because of the drug wars.

I honestly didn't feel it at all, it was so safe when we were there. It was kinda ironic because when we got back into the States there was that shooting in NY where 14(?) people were killed. The place where we stayed was new, just recently built- it was like staying in Hotel Rooms. Also we were a few kilometers outside to Tijuana, in Rosarito, which is basically the tourist destination.

Btw, you should have seen my inbox tho

Wow you have so many pics I only want to know about this latin chick? I'll check the rest of ur pics out later but it seems like you had a good time. I never been to tijuana but I've been to various parts of mexico. And I've even rode a bus for 26 hours straight before and never ever want to experience it again. I would rather drive in my own vehicle. Then again I rode in the greyhound so that coulda taken a toll on it.

The drug wars dont interfere much into the general population but if you are caught in the mix they show no mercy. I don't live near any borders but my have lots of family around border areas. Especially san diego area.

My college, UCSD, sent us all warnings to not go to Mexico for spring break. They said it was dangerous.

That's really awesome.

During Spring Break I went to Hazard, KY and helped build homes with Service Project Appalachia.
